Ever since 1876, when A.G. Spalding opened his first sporting goods store, Spalding has been a dominant name in baseball. That same year, Spalding introduced the first Major League baseball, and the following year introduced the first Major League baseball glove. To say this company knows a thing or two about baseball equipment would be an understatement. Today, Spalding's Pro Staff includes over 100 Major League and Minor League players that lend their professional expertise and preferences to make Spalding products the best they can be. The Pro Select Series gloves from Spalding are a prime example. Made from premium Top-Grain Kip leather and butter smooth cowhide lining, these gloves are extremely durable. The Pro Select Series also features the patent pending expanded small finger slot that will make it easier to lock down those tough catches. Inside, a premium palm pad reduces the sting of hard hit or thrown balls, while an index finger pad provides extra support on the outside. With a custom fit and professional style design, the Pro Select Series is everything you're looking for in a quality and professional baseball glove. Spalding: America's FIRST Baseball Company. How does the Kip leather on this glove compare to a Rawlings Pro Preferred or an Academa Torino Series glove?
Gold glover
The Spalding Robinson Cano Pro Select Series: 42001 will feature a soft Kip leather. It still will require a period of break-in. It would rank right up there with the Pro Preferred's and Torino Series gloves.

What is the difference between this model and the $189.00 version?
batspeed3
The only difference is the Spalding Robinson Cano Pro Select Series: 42001 does not have Robinson Cano's signature.
Kara
Is this the same leather and everything, just without the Robinson Cano signature? Will it have the same durability?
esizzlewizzle
Yes, the Spalding Robinson Cano Pro Select Series: 42001 is made from the same leather as the 42001RC and will offer the same durability. The 42001 just does not feature the Cano branding that the RC model does. The embroidered name and RC logo in the palm are the two differences.

What is the best oil that should be used to break-in this glove?
batterup
Any glove oil would be perfect for the Spalding Robinson Cano Pro Select Series: 42001. The Champro (All-Purpose) Glove Oil would be a great choice.

Is this a tough glove to break-in?
Jp
This Spalding Robinson Cano Pro Select Series: (42001) is constructed from a high quality kip leather, so it may require some effort toward the break-in period; but I wouldn't consider it "tough" to break-in. However, kip leather will offer a lighter and softer feel when compared to a full-grain steerhide leather.
Spalding was founded in 1876 by Boston Red Stockings pitcher A.G. Spalding. Spalding has been a leader of innovation and quality in sporting goods ever since. Spalding has been credited with developing the very first official baseball, basketball, golf ball and football.
A.G. Spalding was a very prominent and influential figure in baseball back in the early days of the game. He played for the Boston Red Stockings and in 1876 he left to play for the Chicago White Stockings, which would later become known as the Chicago Cubs. Spalding helped the White Stocking win the 1876 Inaugural National League Title. After the start of the following season Spalding retired from his playing days to become a full time businessman and team president for the White Stockings.
With an $800 loan from his mother Al Spalding opened up his own sporting goods company, which got its start by selling baseballs. Spalding’s baseballs became The Official Baseball of the National League, which gave him great advertising and exposure and people started to know Spalding Sporting Goods as quality products. As his company expanded Spalding started expanding into numerous outdoor activities and began developing golf clubs, tennis rackets, basketballs, and any other equipment needed for popular athletics at the time. Spalding sporting goods are now official products for many professional sports leagues and college conferences and amateur leagues.

PRICE MATCHGUARANTEE
Yes, JustGloves.com will price match a competitor's listed price!
To do so, we verify some information. If you see an item listed at a lower price elsewhere, this is all we require:
We must verify that the website you want to price match is legitimate and an authorized dealer of the products they sell.
We must confirm that the competitor has the same size and product in stock and ready to ship. If the same size and product is out of stock on the competitor's website, we are unable to match their price.
We must confirm if the competitor charges sales tax and/or shipping fees since these are added to the final price of the product.
Lastly, our Glove Experts must check on the cost we pay to stock the item from the manufacturer. The price match must cover that manufacturer cost for the item.
We have the final decision for matching an online price.
Did you purchase a product from us, but noticed that it is now at a lower price? Please let us know, and we will honor our lowest price within the past 30 days by issuing a refund for the price difference or adjusting the price for you over the phone.

DIRECTIONS:

(3) - Work it into the web, palm, laces, inside of the glove, & any other area that has become dry or is starting to crack. (4) - When finished, place your glove in a warm, dry area (70 - 90 F) & allow the leather to absorb the conditioner for 24 hrs. (5) - Re-treat your glove when you notice the leather is starting to dry out. Prior to the off-season, apply a light coat of conditioner to keep the leather from becoming brittle.
