Description

Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G ContoUR Fit 11.25" Baseball Glove: PROR312U-2R

Get a special Heart of the Hide designed specifically for a young ballplayer that plays middle infield and has a smaller hand!

Glove Benefits

No glove out there exemplifies baseball lore quite like the Rawlings Heart of the Hide. When you see a glove that has the famed snorting bull in the palm, you know that you are dealing with baseball glove greatness!

Rawlings constructs the shell of their Heart of the Hide gloves with top-grade U.S. Steerhide and this material will be able to handle the rigors of a grueling travel slate of baseball games. And to match the shell's quality, the glove's hand slot is made from a deer-tanned cowhide that will be extra comfortable on a player's hand!

This Heart of the Hide packs a real wallop in regard to technology that will allow the glove to break in fast and be used by younger players. To make the glove softer, Rawlings works with the leather a little bit more at their factory to ensure that it is easier to get ready for game-play. They also go ahead and thin out the heel pad of the glove which will further cut down on the time needed to get the glove into game-ready shape. And to make sure that young players can use this glove, they make it with their Contour Fit which gives it more narrow and lowered finger stalls, an adjusted back opening and an overall smaller hand opening.

This 11.25" glove will be a stalwart at 2B and SS. The length will allow it to have a shallower pocket and a young infielder will be able to easily pull the ball from the glove!

Warranty

You can buy this Rawlings glove with confidence as it is covered by a twelve (12) month manufacturer’s warranty period (Be sure to note that the warranty does not cover gloves that were placed in a microwave or oven, gloves that have been over-oiled or gloves with broken laces). If you buy the glove from JustGloves and find yourself with a possible warranty issue, please reach out to the JustGloves Glove Experts. They will be sure to get you the info needed to reach out to Rawlings and begin the warranty replacement process.

Don't let the looks fool you. Alex Parent

Pros: Great looking glove.

Cons: Laces started snapping 3 months into playing with glove and my son is only 8. For the price and quality of this product, we were very disappointed. Rawlings “warranty” does not cover the laces they provided in their own product. We have never had any issues at all with Rawlings products in the past but this glove was a nightmare.

Pros: Good Pop Easy to Break In Nice Webbing Looks Great

Cons: The blue in the pocket turns a darker blue as it is used more. Also in the beginning the blue may rub off on the ball but after the initial break in it stops.

True youth fit Jesse Parent

Pros: Quality is better than the other gloves aimed to the smaller youth market. I was deciding between this glove vs the A2000 DP. The fact that this one was so easily adjustable from the wrist strap was the best feature. We tried a A2000 DP glove from a buddy that was way too tight even for my 4’4” 10-11 YO. We have given this glove heavy use and it has held up very well. Used it non stop and still going strong through multiple practices a week and multiple tournaments each month.

Cons: Wrist strap lacing is a little stiff

I am 17 years old with a medium sized hand and have worn a Marucci 11.5 for 3 years. Would this glove work for, size wise? Rowen H
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide R2G Contour Fit 11.25" Baseball Glove: PROR312U-2R will feature a smaller fit (narrowed and lowered finger stalls and smaller wrist opening) which would make it most likely too small for most 17 year old infielders.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
