The Ideal Fit System features a contoured index finger channel which combines the flexibility and comfort of an open back with the control of a closed back glove. The inside of these gloves is made from Pro Fit steer hide which is built soft for comfort, yet strong for the rigors of professional level play. The gloves are held together by professional grade USA-tanned rawhide lace that is tested to a tensile strength of 100 lbs! That means that the chance of the laces on these gloves breaking is slim to none. This 11.50 Inch glove features an I-Web and is preferred by infielders. Unfortunately, Easton only produces this glove in a Right Hand Throw.

what size is this 1st base glove? it says 11.50? coach

This is not a first base mitt, it is an infield model, more designed for short stop, 2nd and 3rd base. First base mitts are usually more of an enlongated pocket.

I read the product description and it sounds like a good glove. The individual I would be purchasing it for is an 8-year old Little League player. Is the hand opening appropriately sized for a youngster of this age? He also likes to position his hand in the glove so his index finger is on the outside to give him maximum expansion of the glove when catching or fielding the ball. Is this glove designed for use in that hand position also? Carl

The Easton Premier Pro Kip Series: PPK45BT is considered an adult glove that might be too big for an 8 year old player. Most players that age generally play with youth gloves. I would advise looking at the Wilson A1000 Showcase Series: SCG4SS Youth (found here: http://www.justballgloves.com/product/wilson-a1000-showcase-series--scg4ss-youth/14304/) or something similar in the youth category.

At 11.5", it's better suited for a High School age infielder, but will provide plenty of room for an 11 or 12 year old to grow in to.
