Description

Since its introduction in 1957, the original Wilson A2000 Series has set the standard for premium quality ball gloves. Developed together with engineers, craftsmen and Major League players, the A2000 Series is the ultimate defensive tool. Used on MLB fields since 1998, the A2000 SuperSkin models were developed to be as lightweight as possible, without sacrificing performance or durability. SuperSkin repels moisture and reduces the overall weight of the glove while still being 2x stronger than conventional leather. The SuperSkin models strategically place American Pro Stock leather at certain points such as the palm and web to give it even more rugged durability. Pro Stock American Steerhide is prized by players for strength and unmatched feel. It has even been called "the perfect ball glove leather". Its durability is enhanced even further with Dual-Welting pre-curved finger design that helps the pocket keep its shape and stay stable. Think it's impossible to improve perfection? Think again. Put millions of hours of passion for excellence in the palm of your hand with a Wilson A2000 SuperSkin glove! Wilson: More Win! Free Shipping!

Justin (Update)

Pros: The glove is now fully broken in I am completely blown away by the leather quality and the weight of this glove. The A2000 1788 is perfect for the infielder looking for a shallow pocket.

Cons: The laces are really thin and frail on this glove and it almost seems like they are cracked. I dont know if it just came like that for my glove or all Wilsons.

My 11 year old plays 3B in a travel team. His Mizuno is getting a bit soft and he has his eyes on the Wilson 2000. I don't mind spending the money to get him a really nice glove. Which one would you suggest for him? Thank you. Marco
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBSS1788 would be a great choice for him. The SuperSkin material provides a very lightweight feel, and will be very durable.
Kara
My 9 year old plays SS travel ball and looking at getting him a Wilson A 2000 model. Which model would you suggest for him? Monster
I would recommend going with a 11.25" in the A2000 line. I would also take a look at the Wilson A1K line. The A1K will have smaller finger stalls and fit tighter around the wrist which is ideal for the younger player.
John
What treatments are recommended for the SuperSkin? Marman
We recommend using a light layer of Wilson glove oil for the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBSS1788. We do not recommend steaming or baking a glove as it can damage the leather.
Kara
Would this glove be good for a 14 year old second baseman? If not, what other models do you recommend? Luke 1999
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBSS1788 would be a good choice for a 14 year old second baseman. It will be made with quality, durable leather.
Tori
I know 11 1/4" is not a size you would recommend for 3b,(He also pitches) my son borrowed a Wilson A2000 11 1/4" glove from his teammate who plays second, He liked it and had no problem using it and he is big. Do you see any problem... tks CC
Generally third baseman prefer a 11.5"-12" model. It will come down to personal preference and if he is comfortable with a certain size. If he likes a smaller glove then I would stick with it.
John
Does this glove have the Dri-Lex on the inside of the wrist? Tucker
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBSS1788 has the Dri-Lex technology on the inside of the wrist.
Kara
I am a 9 year old third baseman on a travel team. I use a Mizuno 11.5" and it is not so good. I really want a Wilson A2000. Would this be a good glove for me? If not some other A2000 models. Miggy
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) and the Wilson A2000 Baseball Glove (A2000BB1788) are great options for a third baseman your age.
Jason
I'm wondering which would be better for an 11-12 year old who mostly plays second with some shortstop, 3rd and pitches? Jen
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBSS1788 is a great option for a 11-12 year old infielder. It uses top grade leather and will be very durable.
Kara
I'm 18 and have a decent sized hand. I play 2nd base and short stop. Would this glove be too small? jay
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) may be a little small for you. We would recommend an 11.50'' glove. For more information on sizing please visit our Glove Coach at http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/.
Tori
Does this glove come in 11.50" size? If not, what Wilson glove is comparable to this one in 11.50"? Jeff
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) only comes in the 11.25" pattern. There are a few 11.50" SuperSkin models that play similar. The two closest models are the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (G4BSS) and the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1786).
Jason
Does this have the snug fit like the A1K 1788 model? weezy
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) will be an 11.25". However, the wrist opening and finger stalls will be an adult size. The fit will not be a snug as the A1K 1788 model.
Brandon
I'm a 13 yr. old that plays on my JV and Varsity Middle School Team. Would this be a good size if I played 2nd base or Shortstop? Caleb F.
Absolutely. The 11.25" pattern size of this Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) would be a great option for a middle infielder. Ultimately, it depends on what size you are comfortable using. But players your age will use either 11.25" or 11.50" gloves (typically) because they offer a more shallow pocket that helps you speed up the transfer of the ball to your throwing hand.
Mac
Would this glove fit a 16 year old high school second baseman/shortstop? Jeff
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) will be an 11.25" size. I see more 11.50" glove sizing for middle infield at the high school level. The 11.25" would be a great size for a player who prefers a smaller glove or a tighter wrist opening.
Brandon
Would this or a DP15 be better for an 11 year old who likes a glove where the palm of the glove ends at a little more than halfway on his hand? Parker C
The Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4DP15) will have a snugger fit on the hand than the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) so it will be better for that style of use.
Patrick
Is this a good glove for a 10 year old who plays middle infield? parker
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: (A2000BBSS1788) is an excellent, high quality model that will be very high performing. This model was created for infielders, and will work well for your position. The SuperSkin incorporated in this model will also make it very light weight, The leather will be very strong, and will require a break-in. This model is an 11.25" and might be a little big for a 10 year old, but ultimately it will come down to the size of the player's hand. However, most players that use this glove have an adult sized hand and are around middle school, or high school age. Therefore, I might recommend looking for a youth model.
Merritt
Is there a left handed version of this glove? Scott
Wilson only makes the A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) in a right handed thrower.
John H
Just curious, How long will this glove last on average? Ajf_24
Unfortunately, there are too many different factors that go into the life span of a glove and it is impossible to predict just how long it will last. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) is a very high quality glove though, and if you take care of it, it will hold up for multiple years..
Jason
I am 15, and I start High School baseball in 2 months. I want it to last throughout High School and need it fully broken-in in the next month. Is this a good glove for me? GHolley
I think the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) would be a great choice. It's a very high quality glove. And with good care, it should last quite a few seasons. Also, the SuperSkin material improves durability, cuts weight, and will help speed up the break-in process; compared to other A2000 models.
Mac
My son has a little trouble making the exchange from glove-to-hand. Will this glove be able to close easier? Mightykay
This Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) will be able to close easier straight out of the box when compared to other Wilson A2000 gloves with a leather backing. The SuperSkin is a much more flexible material than regular leather backing and allows a player to close the glove much easier when the glove is new.
Ben
What size is this glove? Alexbaseballpro
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) is an 11.25" glove.
Kelby
Is this glove to small for third base? datboygotleather
At 11.25" the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) would be an excellent option for a younger player who's just moving into adult gloves. If it is going to be for bigger player, maybe someone who is moving up to high school, the 11.25" may be a little small and I would recommend moving up to an 11.50" A2000.
Jake
I play 2nd base, I like a light weight glove. Is this one of the lightest gloves on the market? What are some other options for me? Reagan baseball
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) is one of the lightest options available due to the SuperSkin material used in its construction. A comparable model would in terms of weight would be the Rawlings GG Gamer XLE Pro Mesh Series (G1122LE).
Patrick
Is this glove for youths or adults? Ben
This glove is going to be recommended for an infielder. The 11.25 inch does make this a smaller glove, I would recommend ages 13-16 for this glove.
Frankie
Could the staff at just ball gloves do me a huge favor? Take this glove, tighten the wrist strap to the Pedroia fit and tell me if it fits like the DP15? I am looking to make a purchase and I want to know this info. thegloveguy
We do not modify the gloves from the way they come from the factory before sending them out. The Pedroia Fit on the Wilson A2000 Baseball Glove (A20RB15DP15GM) is a combination of a smaller wrist opening and narrower finger stalls. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) would not be able to duplicate this fit exactly.
Patrick
How much of a difference is there between this and the 1786? Do you think the 1/4 of an inch is that important? I'm going to be playing 2nd base in college and I want a small light glove for quick transfers. Which would you recommend? L
If you want something very small and light, the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) may be the better option for you. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1786) would be a great option as well but would be a bit bigger which makes it just that much heavier. Ultimately, it will come down to your preference but both could be used. The 11.5 inch size would be a bit more commonly selected.
Patrick
Which country is this made in? ray
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) is made in Vietnam.
Patrick
Would it damage the SuperSkin if I used Nokona NLT classic Glove Conditioner on it? Tre_baseball3
You would want to use the conditioner on the genuine leather parts of the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) but use it in very small amounts and letting it fully sink in before applying more.
Patrick
Is an 11.25" too small for high school? matty
If a high school aged middle infielder prefers using a smaller option of glove, then this Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) and it's 11.25" length will be just fine for use. Overall, this 11.25" length will not not be too small for use by a high school middle infielder.
Ben
When trying on gloves I noticed that the A2K is a lot softer than the A2000. When worn for awhile, does the A2000 get too crusty and hard? Would it be better to get an A2K? LeoCubs11
Both the Wilson A2K and A2000 series gloves are great ones to consider. The A2K is cut from the top 5% of Wilson's leather and will be more supple; this is what gives the glove and the leather a softer feel and easier break-in. The A2000 series, although not cut from the same leather, is a great glove as well and should not get crusty or hard with proper care and maintenance.
Cameron
Is it possible to get this model in 11.5 inches? Will it cost extra? Ryan
Unfortunately, the 1788 style of this Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBSS1788 is only available in the 11.25" length. An 11.5" length model would not be available.
Ben
As a middle infielder at 13 years old should I be able to have this glove throughout my high school career? hubb
If well taken care of you might be able to get four years of high school ball out of the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788).
Jake
I plan on playing 2B in high school and this glove seems to be a good fit for me. However, should I get the A2K or the A2000 model of this glove? CodySox01
In regard to leather quality and amount of craftsmanship, an A2K option of glove will be the higher rated option when compared to an A2000. However, if you take care of the Pro Stock leather on this Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788), it will be able to last multiple seasons of use.
Ben
Is it possible to get this glove in a 11.50 inch? bobby
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin A2000BBSS1788 is only designed in a 11.25" pattern.
John
Is this glove to small to play outfield? bobby
Yes, the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series A2000BBSS1788 is designed for infield use.
John
I am 13 years old and I play 3rd base. I have very small hands and this glove fits me well. Could I use this A2000 as a third basemen? austin_a2k
If this glove fits you well and you are comfortable using a glove with an 11.25" length at 3B, then you could certainly use this Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) at that position.
