Description

Since its introduction in 1957, the original Wilson A2000 Series has set the standard for premium quality ball gloves. Developed together with engineers, craftsmen and Major League players, the A2000 Series is the ultimate defensive tool. Used on MLB fields since 1998, the A2000 SuperSkin models were developed to be as lightweight as possible, without sacrificing performance or durability. SuperSkin repels moisture and and reduces the overall weight of the glove while still being 2x stronger than conventional leather. The SuperSkin models strategically place American Pro Stock leather at certain points to give it even more rugged durability. This durability is enhanced even further with Dual-Welting pre-curved finger design that helps the pocket keep its shape and stay stable. This 11.25 Inch model features an I-Web and is ideal for infielders looking for a glove with the lightest possible play weight. Put millions of hours of passion for excellence in the palm of your hand with a Wilson A2000 SuperSkin glove! Wilson: The Official Glove of Major League Baseball. Free Shipping!

Pros: this glove is a very great glove. it is light, has an already shallow pocket, perfect for the second basemen (like me). it is easy to get the ball in and out, since it is a little stiff all the time.

Cons: it is a little stiff out of the box, it remains kind of stiff, especially over the off-season, and the padding on the palm is kind of thin. otherwise, it is perfect for intermediate and high school ballplayers!

Pros: The A2000 SuperSkin 1788BSS is a great glove. A little stiff out of the box, but only took a week's worth of throwing and my 12 year old son(middle infielder) was game ready. Perfect size for highschool players.

Cons: Black glove with white lacing looks cool, but going to have to dye the laces because my son pitches.

Pros: Great glove. Great feel, snug on your hand, and easy to break in. Quite stiff when you first get it but I played pass with it for like an hour and i made a pocket and I could use it in a game. WORTH THE MONEY. It's not too small like alot of people say and it has a good size pocket. I reccomend getting the break in kit with it.

JH
would this be a good glove for a highschool 2nd baseman/SS? bubba
Yes, this would be a great glove for someone that is playing 2nd/shortstop. Most infielders use a 11.00-11.50 inch glove. This glove is very durable and you should be able to use it for a long time.
Brett
Which glove has thicker padding? this glove or the Wilson A2000 Series: A2000 1788BG? (Grey and black 11.25 inch glove). if the padding is the same, which glove do you reccomend? Corey
Padding will be similer between the two. It really comes down to personal preference. Because of it's SuperSkin material, the 1788BSS will be a little lighter in weight than the 1788BG. Other than that, the differences will be aesthetic.
JH
I'm a 15 year old soon to be sophmore second baseman who's 5'6"-5'7" and has smaller hands than most. Would this 11.25" A2000 be a good size for me or should i look at the 11.50" A2000's? All-star

I ordered this Glove and it is a great glove but it seems to have extra laces where the two "X's" form under the "I" web and it has double lacing instead of single only on the x's and I was wondering if this is normal? Sully
I went out to the warehouse and looked at all of the gloves in this model that we had. All of them have the double lacing on the XX's. The picture doesn't show it very well because of the color of the lacing it just doesn't show up well.
Linda
Oil or no Oil/conditioner? Don't want the glove to be too heavy, but I have heard conditioner makes the glove last longer. And should I use a softball to break it in? NickAir
Glove oil is recommended to increase the lifetime of the glove. Just make sure you apply it lightly and no more than twice a year. Placing a softball inside the glove and wrapping it with rubber bands will help break in the glove as well.
Kara
Which is longer lasting/more durable, the 1788BSS or the BB1788? My son is a freshman (HS) middle infielder. AZOne
Both are Wilson A2000 gloves and will be very durable. The SuperSkin material is lighter in weight than traditional leather, but is still just as durable.

Does this glove, with the super skin, come with laces in a color other than white? I've heard that pitchers are not allowed to have a glove with white laces. Thanks! Charlie
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1788BSS is only available with white laces. However, if you move up to a 11.50" the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBOTIFSS would be a good alternative that does not have white laces.
Kara
Is it legal to pitch with this glove according to USSSA? And what's the difference between the adult size and youth size according to weight and heigth of player? bdog
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1788BSS is only available with white laces, which is generally not legal for use by pitchers. If you wanted move up to 11.50" though, the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: A2000BBOTIFSS would be a good alternative glove that does not have white lacing.
Marcus
I heard the SuperSkin is more plastic-like than leather. Should I get the 11.25" SuperSkin or the 11.25" regular A2000 for a 16 year old shortstop? Matt
The SuperSkin leather is not plastic. It is real leather. The leather used in the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1788BSS simply provides a lighter feel. This type of glove is perfect for a shortstop. The SuperSkin material will also be easier to break-in.
Kara
Which one will perform better and last longer? The A2000 SuperSkin or Rawlings Pro Mesh? dropbox DEV
Price is the best indicator of material quality in gloves. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1788BSS and Rawlings Pro Mesh are at the same price point and both feature lightweight material on the back of the glove. Either Series would be a lightweight and durable option for a middle infielder.
Mac
Why is this discontinued? I have been looking for this glove for weeks and finally find it and its discontinued. Sween
Wilson has not given us any indication as to why the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (1788BSS) has been discontinued. It may just be that that color option was discontinued. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series (A2000BBSS1788) is very similar by design but just a different color and it is currently available.
Patrick
I was wondering if superskin keeps its shape as well as a full leather? The main thing I'm worried about is if the pocket will get deep after a while without real leather behind to support it. Thanks. HJTOWNS
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1788BSS will certainly be able to keep its shape like its full leather counterparts. The SuperSkin is actually more durable so there shouldn't be any reason for the pocket to not hold its shape overtime.
