Description

Since its introduction in 1957, the original Wilson A2000 Series has set the standard for premium quality ball gloves. Developed together with engineers, craftsmen and Major League players, the A2000 Series is the ultimate defensive tool. Used on MLB fields since 1998, the A2000 SuperSkin models were developed to be as lightweight as possible, without sacrificing performance or durability. SuperSkin repels moisture and reduces the overall weight of the glove while still being 2x stronger than conventional leather. The SuperSkin models strategically place American Pro Stock leather at certain points to give it even more rugged durability. This durability is enhanced even further with Dual-Welting pre-curved finger design that helps the pocket keep its shape and stay stable. This 34.00 Inch Catcher's Mitt features a Closed Web, extra large pocket, extended palm and is ideal for players looking for a mitt with the lightest possible play weight. Put millions of hours of passion for excellence in the palm of your hand with a Wilson A2000 SuperSkin glove! Wilson: The Official Glove of Major League Baseball. Free Shipping!

Pros: Great glove, but more geared towards bigger guys. I'm 5' 6" and its been really hard to break-in. I've been breaking it in all winter and have made little progress. Might save this one for college.

Cons: Very stiff, long break-in required, maybe a full year.

Pros: I just got my glove yesterday and I'm in love with it. It's rock hard and it's going to take a while to break in, but it's worth it! I wish I had one earlier.

Cons: None.

Pros: VERY GOOD GLOVE for the highest level ball player. High school level OR HIGHER. This glove will play at a very high level for quite a long time if taken care of. Solid protection yet once broken in the ball will close the mitt when catching the ball. This is the glove I use as my LOANER when re-lacing customers gloves

Cons: With todays ball players needing EVERYTHING ASAP > A great glove NEEDS TIME to break in. Break in time is a little long for todays players (DON'T HEAT IT UP)

Pros: When the ball hits this glove it absorbs all of it's energy. My hand does'nt feel any shock. Which makes the exchange to my throwing hand much more of a smooth transition.

Cons: A little more required break-in period.

how do they measure a catchers mitt? Bryan
Catcher's mitts are measured by circumference. Regular fielder's mitts are measured by length (tip of the index finger to the heel of the glove).
Jeff
Is this glove's pocked deep? i rpefer a deep pocket. rm
This mitt should meet your needs. It has a pretty deep pocket.
Jeff
My Grandson plays Highschool baseball-catcher-and is being reviewed by several scouts. He desperately NEEDS a new glove of "professional" quality. Will this qualify OR is there a recomendation for a better glove? Ernie
All Wilson A2000 gloves are high-quality and professional grade models. This mitt would be an excellent choice. I would find it difficult to recommend any thing over this one.
Jeff
i have this mitt now and im looking at the a2k and an allstar mitt. what do you think is better for a competitive catcher at the highschool level? brendan
All three would be great options. All Star is known for producing some of the best catcher's equipment out there. Wilson also make top of the line catcher's mitts. The A2K is a little higher in quality compared to the A2000. It really comes down to personal preference, but I really like the feel and fit of Wilsons, but All-Star makes a very high performing catcher's mitt that is hard to beat.
John
would u recommend this glove to an advanced experienced 14 year old catcher? beez
Yes, this would be a glove that I would recommend for you to use. The 34.00 inch glove might be a little big, but some like their gloves to be a little bigger. Most 14 year olds use a 32.00-32.50 inch catchers mitt. It all comes down to personal preference.
Brett
i am 15 years old can i catch with it ? luca
Yes, this glove would work for a 15 year old.
Sean
My son is 14, bigger than most, he needs a new catcher's mitt should I go with a 32.5 or a 34.0? Can you tell me the difference in the A2000 series gloves which one is preferred or the pros and cons of the different models. td
If he is a pretty big guy , then I would go with the 34.
Linda
I am a 17 year old catcher and I need a new mitt. I've been looking at this one for a while and want to know if it would be okay to use from now till spring 2013 with pitchers that throw from 70-85mph? I play year all around and need a glove that does not bruise my hand easily. CHS Catcher
The 1790SS will hold up just fine for you. The A2000 catchers mitts are common among elite level high school and collegiate players. It is a very durable mitt as well.
Tyler
Im playing college ball and the pitchers on the team throw 85+ and also some throw 95+. Would you recommend this glove? sunday2012
This Wilson A2000 SuperSkin will definitely be a great option for top of the level competition. It has great padding and is very light weight giving you the quickest reaction time on the higher velocity pitching.
John
Is 34" catchers mitt too big for a player 5' 8 tall? baseballkid
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1790SS Catcher's Mitt would be a great selection. Using the glove coach on justballgloves.com I found that a 34" Wilson A2000 Superskin Series: 1790SS Catcher's mitt is recommended for a player 19 years old. A 32" Wilson A2000 Superskin Series: 1790SS Catcher's mitt is recommended for a 13 year old.
Brandon
I'm 15 years old, would the gloves size be good for high school baseball and last me all 4 years? Big h
Using the Glove Coach on justballgloves.com I see it says for a 15 year old catcher a 33" mitt is recommended. If you do see yourself using this Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1790SS Catcher's Mitt for all of high school and possibly college this would be a great mitt to break-in now and grow into.
Brandon
I'm a 6'1", 15 year old, that plays high school ball. During the summer I catch Division 1 college pitcher's bullpens. They throw 90+, would you recommend this mitt for me? big ky
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: 1790SS Catcher's Mitt would be a great selection for the type of catching you do. This 34" Catcher's Mitt will come with an Extra Large Pocket and Extended Palm. The Pro Stock Leather is strategically placed for rugged durability. The Dual Welting this mitt provides will have this mitt holding its shape for a long time. This mitt also features Wilson's Superskin which is 2x stronger than leather. It is lightweight, will repel moisture, and will break-in easier.
Brandon
Would this glove be good for a 5' 8" 15 yr old that wieghs 160 lb? LB
A 33" mitt is more common for a 15 year old catcher. I'm sure he could fit into the 1790SS, but it's hard to say without being able to see him try on different size mitts.
