Description
This Shoeless Joe Glove 3400CM gives a player the quality, feel and style of the gloves worn by professional ball players over the last 100 years. You can choose glove models worn in the first half of century in the Golden Age Series or today`s models in the Professional Model Series. The Shoeless Joe gloves are individually hand-cut and sewn from Special Aged Antique Tobacco Leather Hides. Shoeless Joe gloves are then hand-rubbed with old time ingredients to soften the leather before they go through their breaking in process that leaves the Glove with a beaten up and game worn look and feel of a broken in glove. Thus each glove is unstructured giving it it`s own unique feature. Players can choose to play with an old time or modern day web without having to change to another model. A great play is lived only once, but, Your Glove, you`ll keep it forever. If you end a game with a clean uniform our gloves are not for you. Shoeless Joe: When it Was Just a Game! Pros: absolutely perfect! works right out of the bag. the look, feel and action of the glove are game ready. those concerned about the wrist guard, dont. its big enough for protection and small enough not to get in the way. so forget about those new fangled rubber wrist protector gloves, dont need it. great pocket, dont feel a thing on 80+ throwers. hopefully its the last catchers mitt ill need.
Cons: none
Pros: I am a 34yr old playing in an adult league with pitchers throwing anywhere from 70 to 85mph, i just got this mitt and can already tell it's a lot better than the 14yr old rawlings that i've been playing with. My son is about to start pitching in highschool and he throws pretty hard and has lots of movement on his fastball, the mitt is easy to snag any pitch out of the dirt. Also the day i purchased it, it was so easy to squeeze closed and open, already feels game ready.
Cons: I'm pretty sure my knees will give out before this mitt does.
Pros: One of the fastest break-in times for a catcher's mitt. My son is a HS catcher and his All-Star Glove was getting worn and we worried about it breaking with no back up. Saw this glove and right out of the box after a couple of practices it was ready to go. Now whether it holds up is yet to be seen but for $100 less than the All-Star Glove, well worth the money.
Cons: Too early to tell how much of a beating it can take.
Pros: Amazing glove. Began catching for the first time ever, last year in an adult league. Used a few other catcher's gloves, but this one is far and away better than any of them. Our pitchers throw a lot of balls in the dirt and I end up catching balls I didn't even think I had a chance at. This glove is making me look good! : ) Love it!!! I will seriously look at Shoeless Joe if / when I need to purchase my next fielder's glove.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
Pros: My 1980s Wilson A2400 32" -- a mitt I have used and treasured for decades -- is now beyond repair, so I ordered the Shoeless 3400CM. I love it. It is a softer, better smelling replica (in my opinion) of the Wilson A2400 single action. It wasn't ready to go right out of the box, but after a few days of pounding and stretching, I think it's ready for a game. Very fast delivery.
Cons: None.
Pros: Soft leather, soft laces
Cons: Failed during third game with it. The focus on producing a "ready-to-use" product means that all the components are too soft to withstand the rigors of real baseball. It was easy to use instantly but the main lace between the finger and thumb running through the bridge (holding the webbing onto the glove) broke during the third game of use. Nice to look at, nice to wear, easy to use, but not well-built enough to endure game conditions.
Pros: This is the nicest glove I have ever used. Getting in shape to play in a senior league, I was catching 70 to 80 mph pitches today, did not feel a THING. No sting. The leather is soft and nearly broken-in, and is made really well. Many have said this brand just makes novelty gloves, and while that may be true to an extent, the 3400 is a contender for serious players. Seriously love this thing. Highly recommend!
Cons: Not sure I am crazy about the wrist flap, have to give that some time
Pros: I catch in a 40+ league and found this glove to be the best glove I have owned. I haven't felt one pitch yet. It's worth the money to me even if I have to replace it in a couple of seasons due to the easy breakin nature of the leather.
Cons: Because it's so padded sometimes I have to look in the glove to see if the ball is there. Also, the pocket is not as long or deep as a traditional glove. I find picking a ball off the ground with the glove is difficult. Neither reasons for not going with this glove though.
Pros: Game ready and good feel. Authentic look.
Cons: Glove has to be continuously tightened. My son plays on the varsity team in HS with pitchers throwing in the consistent 80s. The pocket will barely last an entire game before becoming extremely loose. Sent the first glove back for exchange due to the lacing breaking while tightening the glove. The glove also lacks protection. My son suffered a broken thumb while tagging a runner out at home plate in a standing position. Several issues played a factor in this happening but the glove folded backwards during the tag and his thumb was broken off at the joint while inside the glove. Random deal but still out of playing for 3 months for healing and rehab.
Pros: good padding, big enough to use in high school
Cons: glove came already shaped and I personally like a glove that I get to break in myself and shape to my hand. the wrist protector had almost no effect because of how it curled up. overall, if you're older than 13 and looking for a glove to use in high school games, look somewhere else
Pros: Awesome right out of the box and awesome 5 years later. I caught in HS and now coach. I've caught 85 MPH fastball and felt nothing. My son took it over 14U and is still using in HS. I've spent $1000+ on catchers mitts and he still chooses this one.(Over his A2K and Rawlings Heart of the Hide) Buying a backup just in case. No breakdown in padding as others have said
Cons: Laces need tightened occasionally. Buying a back-up and having this one professionally re-laced.
Pros: Great look and feel! Nice padding in the palm.
Cons: Being "game ready" out of the box is a big stretch. I have pretty strong hands and I could barely get this glove 1/2 closed when I got it. It was pretty much as stiff as any other new glove I have purchased. I was a bit disappointed but I started working on it right away. Took a couple of passes with glove oil but it is about 2/3 broken in after 1 hard break in week. Not too bad really. I like the glove but don't buy into being "game ready" right out of the box - it's not. I'm sure I'll be happy after it is completely broken in - probably a couple more weeks I'm guessing.
Pros: Can't say enough good about this glove. Super well made, easy to adjust, padded really well, comfy, deep pocket and YES YES YES ready-to-go right out of the box without having to beat the glove for 2 weeks. Seriously the best catcher's mitt I've ever owned.
Cons: reading the 1-star reviews so obviously put in here by competing manufacturers to impart negativity on this line/ glove.
Pros: This glove has the protection padding of the best of gloves. Worked this glove against middle tier All Star Pro Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3100SBT and high end Wilson A2000 SuperSkin and my high school son preferred the Shoeless Joe over both in comfort and even protection of the thumb area.
Cons: Noticeably heavier than most gloves. Although, it does not take long at all to break in. The glove shipped in the most pancake shape of all the gloves tried and really has to be worked to get into the boxing form. Even now after a month of heavy work, the boxing is not complete and the ball still occasionally pops out. The attached wrist guard shipped sticking out at an annoying 90 degrees, but by tucking the wrist guard into the hand opening every night, it straightened out against the wrist and became beneficial rather than hinderance.
