Shoeless Joe Gloves give a player the quality, feel and style of the gloves used by professional ball players over the last 100 years. You can choose glove models used in the first half of century in the Golden Age Series or today`s models in the Professional Model Series. The Shoeless Joe gloves are individually hand-cut and sewn from Special Aged Antique Tobacco Leather Hides. Shoeless Joe gloves are then hand-rubbed with old time ingredients to soften the leather before they go through their breaking in process that leaves the Glove with a beaten up and game worn look and feel of a broken in glove. Thus each glove is unstructured giving it it`s own unique feature. Players can choose to play with an old time or modern day web without having to change to another model. A great play is lived only once, but, Your Glove, you`ll keep it forever. If you end a game with a clean uniform our gloves are not for you. Shoeless Joe: When it Was Just a Game! Free Shipping!
add_circle_outlinePros: absolutely perfect! works right out of the bag. the look, feel and action of the glove are game ready. those concerned about the wrist guard, dont. its big enough for protection and small enough not to get in the way. so forget about those new fangled rubber wrist protector gloves, dont need it. great pocket, dont feel a thing on 80+ throwers. hopefully its the last catchers mitt ill need.
add_circle_outlinePros: I am a 34yr old playing in an adult league with pitchers throwing anywhere from 70 to 85mph, i just got this mitt and can already tell it's a lot better than the 14yr old rawlings that i've been playing with. My son is about to start pitching in highschool and he throws pretty hard and has lots of movement on his fastball, the mitt is easy to snag any pitch out of the dirt. Also the day i purchased it, it was so easy to squeeze closed and open, already feels game ready.
remove_circle_outlineCons: I'm pretty sure my knees will give out before this mitt does.
add_circle_outlinePros: One of the fastest break-in times for a catcher's mitt. My son is a HS catcher and his All-Star Glove was getting worn and we worried about it breaking with no back up. Saw this glove and right out of the box after a couple of practices it was ready to go. Now whether it holds up is yet to be seen but for $100 less than the All-Star Glove, well worth the money.
remove_circle_outlineCons: Too early to tell how much of a beating it can take.
add_circle_outlinePros: Amazing glove. Began catching for the first time ever, last year in an adult league. Used a few other catcher's gloves, but this one is far and away better than any of them. Our pitchers throw a lot of balls in the dirt and I end up catching balls I didn't even think I had a chance at. This glove is making me look good! : ) Love it!!! I will seriously look at Shoeless Joe if / when I need to purchase my next fielder's glove.
add_circle_outlinePros: received my "shoeless joe 34" catchers mitt today and i am impressed with the following: broken in, fits perfect for large hands, craftsmanship, color, and its game ready. thank you justballgloves.com for an excellent product and two day delivery.
add_circle_outlinePros: My 1980s Wilson A2400 32" -- a mitt I have used and treasured for decades -- is now beyond repair, so I ordered the Shoeless 3400CM. I love it. It is a softer, better smelling replica (in my opinion) of the Wilson A2400 single action. It wasn't ready to go right out of the box, but after a few days of pounding and stretching, I think it's ready for a game. Very fast delivery.
remove_circle_outlineCons: Failed during third game with it. The focus on producing a "ready-to-use" product means that all the components are too soft to withstand the rigors of real baseball. It was easy to use instantly but the main lace between the finger and thumb running through the bridge (holding the webbing onto the glove) broke during the third game of use. Nice to look at, nice to wear, easy to use, but not well-built enough to endure game conditions.
add_circle_outlinePros: This is the nicest glove I have ever used. Getting in shape to play in a senior league, I was catching 70 to 80 mph pitches today, did not feel a THING. No sting. The leather is soft and nearly broken-in, and is made really well. Many have said this brand just makes novelty gloves, and while that may be true to an extent, the 3400 is a contender for serious players. Seriously love this thing. Highly recommend!
remove_circle_outlineCons: Not sure I am crazy about the wrist flap, have to give that some time
add_circle_outlinePros: I catch in a 40+ league and found this glove to be the best glove I have owned. I haven't felt one pitch yet. It's worth the money to me even if I have to replace it in a couple of seasons due to the easy breakin nature of the leather.
remove_circle_outlineCons: Because it's so padded sometimes I have to look in the glove to see if the ball is there. Also, the pocket is not as long or deep as a traditional glove. I find picking a ball off the ground with the glove is difficult. Neither reasons for not going with this glove though.
add_circle_outlinePros: I just got this mit about 5 days ago. I am totally surprised on how broken in it is. I absolutely love it. I will definitely be purchasing an in fielder's mit from shoeless joe. Definitely highly recommend this mit.
add_circle_outlinePros: Game ready and good feel. Authentic look.
remove_circle_outlineCons: Glove has to be continuously tightened. My son plays on the varsity team in HS with pitchers throwing in the consistent 80s. The pocket will barely last an entire game before becoming extremely loose. Sent the first glove back for exchange due to the lacing breaking while tightening the glove. The glove also lacks protection. My son suffered a broken thumb while tagging a runner out at home plate in a standing position. Several issues played a factor in this happening but the glove folded backwards during the tag and his thumb was broken off at the joint while inside the glove. Random deal but still out of playing for 3 months for healing and rehab.
add_circle_outlinePros: good padding, big enough to use in high school
remove_circle_outlineCons: glove came already shaped and I personally like a glove that I get to break in myself and shape to my hand. the wrist protector had almost no effect because of how it curled up. overall, if you're older than 13 and looking for a glove to use in high school games, look somewhere else
add_circle_outlinePros: Awesome right out of the box and awesome 5 years later. I caught in HS and now coach. I've caught 85 MPH fastball and felt nothing. My son took it over 14U and is still using in HS. I've spent $1000+ on catchers mitts and he still chooses this one.(Over his A2K and Rawlings Heart of the Hide) Buying a backup just in case. No breakdown in padding as others have said
remove_circle_outlineCons: Laces need tightened occasionally. Buying a back-up and having this one professionally re-laced.
add_circle_outlinePros: Great look and feel! Nice padding in the palm.
remove_circle_outlineCons: Being "game ready" out of the box is a big stretch. I have pretty strong hands and I could barely get this glove 1/2 closed when I got it. It was pretty much as stiff as any other new glove I have purchased. I was a bit disappointed but I started working on it right away. Took a couple of passes with glove oil but it is about 2/3 broken in after 1 hard break in week. Not too bad really. I like the glove but don't buy into being "game ready" right out of the box - it's not. I'm sure I'll be happy after it is completely broken in - probably a couple more weeks I'm guessing.
add_circle_outlinePros: Can't say enough good about this glove. Super well made, easy to adjust, padded really well, comfy, deep pocket and YES YES YES ready-to-go right out of the box without having to beat the glove for 2 weeks. Seriously the best catcher's mitt I've ever owned.
remove_circle_outlineCons: reading the 1-star reviews so obviously put in here by competing manufacturers to impart negativity on this line/ glove.
Is there any other way to remove the wrist guard other than un-lacing the mitt?
There's really no way to remove the wrist guard without unlacing it. I guess you can always cut it off, just make sure you don't cut any of the lacing.
There is no option for a LHT mitt. Does this company not make them or are they just not in stock?
We are out of stock in the right hand thrower.
How is the padding in the glove and how long is the break in time?
The 3400CM has great padding. The glove is partially broken in during production, so there should be a minimal break in time.
Looking for a glove to catch my 9 year old. Is a 34 inch an adult size ? Just want to make sure of sizing before I order one.
A 33 to 34 inch mitt would work perfectly for an adult just looking for a mitt to recreate with. I think this is a great option.
Would this be the appropriate size for a 12 yr old, 5'4" tall, 130 lbs and playing for Pony Division?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series is and adult glove and would be too big for a 12 year old. We suggest a 32" to a 32.50" for a 12 year old player.
As an oncoming freshmen, I am playing JV Acme this summer. I realized that my glove that I bought for my late late little league and Jr. High years is much to small to be catching in high school. Would a 34 inch be fine to use for my whole high school baseball career? I'd rather not purchase more than one.
We recommend a 33.00" or a 33.50". The Shoeless Joe gloves run slightly larger than other models,
I have a 13 yr old son who is 5'10" and has huge hands. What size catcher mitt do you recommend for him?
We recommend a 33.00" catcher's mitt for his age and size.
My 16 yr. old, 6'0" son is new to H.S. varsity catching. Is the 3400CM the correct size?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 3400CM is a little large, for his age we would recommend a 33.00" to 33.50" mitt. For more information on sizing, please visit our glove coach at http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Your advertising for this glove stresses that it arrives broken in. is there any reason to purchase the glove care kit for $29 if this is the case, or simply buy the oil?
Gloves that are softer and pre-broken in do not require the use of a glove care kit or glove oil in my opinion. If it were me, I would just use the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 3400CM Catcher's Mitt is a few bullpen session to get a feel for it and to ensure it is in fact, broken-in to my liking.
I am considering the following glove:Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 3400CM Catcher's Mitt. I am 5'8", 170 lbs, playing in an adult baseball league (55 and over); I don't know if this glove will be too large for me. How can I tell what size catcher's glove to buy?
Our Glove Coach is a great tool to help determine what size is best for you: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
What about is this good for a 13 year old?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 3400CM Catcher's Mitt may be too big for a 13 year old. We recommend a 32.00" to 32.50" model. For further sizing information, visit our Glove Coach at http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Is this glove right for a 20 year old woman catching for a fastpitch college softball team?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM) is a baseball catcher's mitt. We recommend the
Shoeless Joe Shoeless Jane Fastpitch Series (3400FPCM) for fastpitch softball.
Would this glove work for my husband who catches his fastpitch daughter?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM) would be a great option for your husband. It is a quality glove that will not require a break-in period. The pocket will be large enough for a softball.
How much does this glove weigh?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM Catcher's Mitt) does not list a play weight on the mitt. Here is Shoeless Joe's direct line if you'd like to call them and ask: 855-503-4568
Trying to find the Shoeless Joe catcher's mitt in 33" but can't find it. Do they make this mitt in that size?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM) is not offered in a 33 inch design.
I'm 17 and looking to use this mitt as a senior in high school. Would this glove fit a 6'1" person?
Yes, the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM) would fit a 6'1" high school baseball player.
I'm 13 years old but play for an 18U and 14U team. I have pretty large hands for my age and was wondering if this glove would be good for me. I play about 3-5 days a week and catch up to 90 mph pitches. I am also wondering if this glove will last me about 2-3 years?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM Catcher's Mitt) would be a good size for an older high school or college catcher. If you have large hands and need a 34" size mitt this model would be perfect. It will come pre-oiled from the factory and break-in very quickly and easy. It would definitely last you at least 2-3 seasons.
Do you make it to fit the right hand?
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 3400CM Catcher's Mitt is available in both a right hand thrower and left hand thrower model.
Is the 34 inch good for my 14 year old daughter? I'm looking for a 33 because 32 is too small.
A catcher's mitt is always going to be one of personal preference in terms of size. Based on your daughter's age, our general recommendation would be a 33.00 inch model. With that said, we do offer a 100 guarantee on the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 3400CM Catcher's Mitt as well as all other gloves and mitts ordered. So if you wanted to go with this 34.00 inch option you can rest assured that if it is too big you can send it back for an exchange or refund even if the mitt has been used.
Do you have the 33 inch catchers glove for right handers? I am looking for a glove for my 14 year old.
Unfortunately we do not carry a Shoeless Joe Catcher's Mitt in the 33" size.

Pro Soft Glove Conditioner
(1) - First remove any existing dirt by wiping the glove with a clean, dry cloth. (2) - When clean, rub a small amount of conditioner into the leather with hands or clean cloth. (3) - Work it into the web, palm, laces, inside of the glove, & any other area that has become dry or is starting to crack. (4) - When finished, place your glove in a warm, dry area (70 - 90 F) & allow the leather to absorb the conditioner for 24 hrs. (5) - Re-treat your glove when you notice the leather is starting to dry out. Prior to the off-season, apply a light coat of conditioner to keep the leather from becoming brittle.
