Pros: Glove was very easy to break in and it feels like an extension of my hand.

Cons: Lacing around pocket deteriorated after two years. I contactacted the company and they offered to send me a brand new glove. I really liked the feel of mine and spent $20 to have it relaced. It is now better than ever.

Pros: Extremely easy to break in. The ball seats well in the pocket and does not jump around like other mitts I have owned. Extremely good leather and very large pocket. I have used it for two years and it has held up extremely well. I have not had any problems with the glove being durable.

Cons: I wish I had two.

Pros: It stunk, didn't stay in the pocket. The ball would always fall out, my coach yelled at me to catch the ball and pop up and throw. I couldn't do that

Pros: Extremely quick to break in, very durable, and extremely comfortable. I've had mine for three years and the only problem I've had is lacing coming un-tied once.

Cons: The wrist flap is kind of weird and I don't really think it's necessary but it never really bothered me that much. I haven't used many other mitts but the padding on the palm is a little slim and a good fastball caught wrong can sting pretty good but I suppose it's one way to learn how to catch right.

Pros: Love this mitt!! As most stated, easy to break in & ball seats well. Great for knuckle-balls. This mitt has been exceptional for me for 4 years now. The wrist pad protects on splitters, changes & bounced pitches; also worked well to protect against spike injury on a play at the plate.

Cons: NONE!! Like any glove, regular oiling & brushing will preserve it for years.

Pros: Great glove. Easy to break in and great leather. Old school feel to it with a great look. Great "pancake" feel to it. If you know how to shape it it will be great. Oil it up and you can't go wrong.

Cons: Lacing is a little weak. Tougher lacing helps in the pocket.

Pros: Really nice, protects my hands, (son throws around 70mph) now, and I feel like I just have to have the glove in the vicinity of the ball to catch it. And there is an ever so slight cup at the outer edge that hangs on to balls nicely. I'm able to use it without break-in.

Cons: None.

Pros: Got it on sale for $49.99. What a steal!I'm an older guy who remembers the old days and bought this as a kind of collector's item that could be passed down. Although it appears old, the leather is soft and supple and responds well to oiling/glove dressing. It darkens the leather slightly but had no negative effect and the glove was quite easy to break in. I can see how it originally cost $169.99. It is well constructed and laced well.

Cons: The soft pliable leather might possibly wear more quickly in comparison to gloves made by Wilson, Rawlings, All Star, etc. especially with the lacing which seems softer/weaker than on other gloves I own. Glove is made in Mexico. Never-the-less, the workmanship is excellent.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Roy Hobbs Game Ready Series: RHGR3400 Catcher's Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What would be recommended for an 11 year old boy for best performance? joeseph
The RH3400 is an adult glove and would be too large for an eleven year old boy. We suggest a 31.50" to a 32.00" catcher's mitt.
Kara
Hi the glove in your pic is different than the ones I see at the Roy Hobbs sight. Your glove doesnt have a finger guard. Please explain. thanks Mike none
Occasionally, manufacturer's will change or make updates to their products without informing their retailers. This is the case with the Roy Hobbs RH3400. All the mitts we have in stock have the finger guard on the back. A request has been sent to our Creative Team to have the glove re-imaged. An updated product image should be on the site within the next 1-2 weeks. Thank you!

What are the differences and similarities between this mitt and the Shoeless Joe mitt? Which would last longer and is "better"? Wonder Boy
This Roy Hobbs Game Ready Series (RHGR3400) Catcher's Mitt and Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3400CM) Catcher's Mitt are very comparable mitts. Both are made of very comparable leather (price is a good indicator of the quality), feature the same 34.00" pattern size, and are game ready and require minimal effort toward the break-in. Unfortunately, they're so similar that I wouldn't say one is better than the other. Please take advantage of our 100 Day Guarantee and free UPS returns label if you decide to pick one and it's not what you expected.
Mac
Is this a baseball catchers mitt or a fastpitch softball catchers mitt? Tim
The Roy Hobbs Game Ready Series: RHGR3400 Catcher's Mitt will be a baseball catcher's mitt.
