Description

The most sought-after glove technology in years is now featured in premium Heart of the Hide ball gloves! The Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series from Rawlings features their popular Solid Core Technology that has revolutionized the way baseball gloves are made. Solid Core eliminates traditional lining inside the glove, and instead uses layers to cater to how a player catches the ball based on their position. These layers, combined with the absence of heel and palm lacing, result in a glove that is less time-consuming to break in, naturally easier to close, and fits better. The shell of the glove is made from Rawlings premium Heart of the Hide Leather. Handcrafted from the top 5% of steer hides, Heart of the Hide Leather is not only durable, but incredibly comfortable on your hand. This 11.50 inch pattern features a conventional open back and an I-Web. With its shallower pocket, this pattern is best suited for infielders that use two hands to scoop the ball. Pros: My 13-year-old travel player loves this glove. Once broken in, it molded nicely to his hand. Perfect glove for a pitcher or middle infielder.

Cons: Very stiff at first! Breaking in this glove takes effort, but the result is worth it.

Have a question about the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series: PRO150SC? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does an 11 yr old that is 4' 10" and 75 lbs need an adult glove or youth glove? Fred
We do not recommend the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series: PRO150SC for an 11 year old player. A youth model such as the Rawlings Gold Glove Gamer Pro Taper Series: GG1150G Youth would be a better option.
Kara
What is the difference in how this glove and the Wilson A2000 break-in? ephus
The break-in on the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series: PRO150SC will be different than the A2000 because the Solid Core eliminates traditional lining inside the glove, and instead uses layers to cater to how a player catches the ball based on their position. These layers, combined with the absence of heel and palm lacing, result in a glove that is less time-consuming to break-in, naturally easier to close, and fits better.

Do you think this glove is a better glove for middle infield than a Wilson A2000? jordy
No, the Wilson A2000 and the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series: PRO150SC are both high end gloves and they will both be great for middle infield.

What is the difference between this glove and one with dual-core technology? NCbaseball
Rawlings Heart of the Hide Dual Core technology has position specific break points in the glove pattern, whereas the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core technology eliminates traditional lining, and instead use layers to cater to how a player catches the ball based on position and personal preference.

Is this a good glove for a 15 yr old middle infielder? Mac Pender
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series (PRO150SC) features the 11.5" pattern, which would be a great glove for the middle infield position. Typically a middle infielder use a 10" -11.5" pattern so this glove would be a great option within that size range.

Would this glove be good for a 15 year old 3rd baseman? brandonean
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series (PRO150SC) would be a great choice for a 3rd basemen at that age. Some people may prefer a 12.75 in their later high school and college years but would be a great choice for now.
Aaron
Does this glove have about the same leather quality as the Wilson A2000? Glove Buyer
Yes, both the Wilson A2000 Series and the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series (PRO150SC) will be very high end glove options. The A2000 will feel much more stiff and take longer to break-in. The Solid Core Series will feature a laceless palm and heel for a more comfortable fielding experience.
Brandon
I'm 10 years old. I play fall ball and spring ball. I want a glove I can use for 4-8 years. Would this be a good glove for that? theHam-Mer
Yes, the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series (PRO150SC) will definitely be a great choice and have the durability to withstand many years of use. The 11.50" size would work for an adult middle infielder also. If you play any outfield you may need to look for a glove at a size of 12.50"-12.75" in high school.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
