Pros: Great glove for infielding. My son started using this for 6U, he played all positions in the infield. Then 6U A All-stars he played OF and infield. He has great D skills but some hard flys did pop out, so this is definitely a infielder glove. We had it broke in with an air gun, some steam, and the webgem.

Cons: Shall pocket (not bad) just note infield glove.

Pros: My 8 year old son loves the way the glove looks and feels. The glove comes 90% broken in, so the break in time should be short. Seems to be a good glove for players with small hands.

Cons: My son has had the glove for a couple of weeks now and he still hasn't gotten it broke in where he's comfortable using it for games yet. The ball tends to pop out on him and he definitely is not ready to use it for his 9U travel baseball team yet. I'm not sure how many seasons he can get out of this glove since the finger openings are so small.

Pros: Very well made & high quality glove for a reasonable price. Break-in was pretty easy.

Cons: The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because there's no means of adjusting the fit at the wrist. I had to "rig" a tighter fit to keep the glove secure on my 7 year old even when he's wearing a batting glove underneath.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings Gold Glove Gamer Pro Taper Series: GG1125G Youth? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Although this glove does not say youth, I see a review that it fits an 8 year old. Is this glove made for 8 to 9 year old with small hand? Ignacio
The Rawlings Gold Glove Gamer Pro Taper Series isn't a traditional youth glove, but it is ideal for players between 8 and 12 years old who is ready to move up from a regular youth glove. The Pro Taper Series will fit slightly smaller than full size adult gloves.
Mark
Whats the difference between 11.5 youth glove and 11.5 adult glove? Jr.Bob
A youth model will have a smaller hand opening and more narrow finger stalls to better fit a younger player's hand. Youth gloves often have a slighter larger pocket as well.

My son is 8 years old and uses 11.75 Mizuno Franchise GFN1176. Because he has a few bobbles and dropped balls I was thinking of down sizing his glove to Rawlings Gold GG1125G or Rawlings Pro Taper PT1124G. Help. Jr. Bob
The PT1124G is a glove that is exclusive to HomeRunMonkey.com. The leather used to make the GG1125G will be a little softer than that on the PT1124G, which means the GG1125G will be a little easier to break in. The PT1124G will be a little stiffer on day one. If you would like to purchase the PT1124G, you'll have to go through HomeRunMonkey.com.

My son is 11 and currently has a 11" Mizuno Power Close glove. It seems to be getting kind of flimsy. He plays mostly middle infield, but will get time in the outfield as well. - Would it make sense for him to move to a little bigger glove or is 11" good (this one is 11.25) - Would this glove be a good glove for him given the positions he plays. Paul
You may want to go to a bigger glove. Please give us a call and we will be more than happy to help you with your questions.

Picture shows it's for a lefty... but selection indicates for a right handed thrower. Which one is it? Ric21
The image is just a stock photo. You will want to look under "Choose a Size". This is where you will see the options that glove is available in.
Tyler
Is it pre-oiled? ews
The Rawlings Gold Glove Gamer Pro Taper Series gloves are made with an oil-tanned, tumbled leather. Due to this, these gloves have a super-soft, game-ready feel along with full-grain leather finger linings.
Tyler
My son is a small 11 year old using a Mizuno Prospect GPL11 that plays 2nd and outfield. Would the Rawlings 11" or 11.25" be a better glove to switch to? Cary
The Rawlings Gold Glove Gamer Pro Taper Series: GG1125G Youth might be a bit big at 11.25". I would recommend an 11.00" glove.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
