The Nokona Black Shadow would be a very good glove for a younger catcher. This glove has great padding and uses some of Nokona"s best leather. This glove is made in America.

It terms of quality, both will be pretty similar. Base on some feedback, the Rawlings Gold Glove Gamer mitt has a slightly larger pocket and a little more padding. Both are excellent gloves though.
