Description

Mizuno's top craftsmen have over 65 years of combined glove making experience that translates into high quality ball gloves for players of all ages. The new Samurai Series catcher's mitts are no different. Made from full grain oil-treated leather, these mitts are soft to the touch and easy to break in. That doesn't mean that they sacrifice any durability or hand protection. Featuring patent pending thumb protection technology, these mitts are easy to close while still providing that extra protection on the inside of your hand. The Samurai Series mitts also feature Mizuno's ParaShock Palm Pad that absorbs sting even after repeated use. ParaShock provides less rebound, more protection, and an overall sense of comfort for catcher's. These mitts feature a conventional open back and a two-piece closed web to give players fantastic control behind the plate. The GXC31 is a pro-sized catcher's mitt that is the ideal for the serious ball player. Mizuno: Never Settle! Free Shipping!

Pros: Great Thumb protection while still giving you a chance to close the glove on any kind of pitch... Real deal leather that broke quickly in after a little oil 3 days of bullpen plus 15 mins of help from Iron Mike! Pocket is great size but not too deep so you can easily get the ball out!

Cons: None so far...

Pros: This is the best glove out there. It offers the only glove out with a belt in thumb guard. All the catchers on our club team use it over their wilson a2000 and rawling hoh.

Cons: none

Pros: Used this glove for 2 1/2 seasons and my current Samurai Pro will be my backup glove as soon as my new one arrives. The leather is great, thumb protection is great, and break in time didn't take long. Ordering a new one to use for this season.

Cons: The leather in the glove started to tear after 2 1/2 years as expected but glove is still usable.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Samurai Pro Series Catcher's Mitt: GXC31? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this glove made in a 35 inch size? JZ
Unfortunately, Mizuno does not produce the Samurai Pro Series glove in a 35" model.
Tyler
How heavy is the Mizuno GXC31? Also, which would be heavier, the Mizuno GXC31 or the All Star CM3100SBT? Baseball Pop
We do not have the weights on our gloves, but comparing the GXC31 and the CM3100SBT the GXC31 is going to be much heavier, because of the higher leather quality.
Noah
My son is 12 yrs old and plays 12U and 13U travel ball. What size catcher's mitt should he be using for his age? JW
The Mizuno Samurai Pro Series: GXC31 Catcher's Mitt is is too large for a 12 year old player. We recommend a 32.00" glove for his age.
Kara
How would this compare to the GXC54? He loves that but it is worn out. Ma
The Mizuno Samurai Pro Series (GXC31) will be the most comparable model to the Mizuno MVP Series (GXC54). They will have very similar leather used as well as a similar shape. They both also feature the ParaShock Technology for added protection.
Kelby
My son is 16. What size catcher's mitt would be good for him? jim
Typically, for a 16 year old catcher, I would recommend using a 33.00" mitt. The Mizuno Samurai Pro Series: GXC31 Catcher's Mitt features a 34.00 inch pattern so it might be a tad too big for him but that is dependent upon your player's height and weight.
John
my son is 5'4" and only weighs 100 lbs. he is 15years old and plays on a 14/15u traveling team. he started catching in practice and has developed into a relief catcher. the pitchers throw hard and his current glove is a youth model that does not have material/padding and the pocket is smaller. is there a recommendation. $$ is really not an issue if the equipment is justified. thanks brant Coach G
I would actually recommend the Mizuno Samurai Pro Series: GXC31 Catcher's Mitt, I think it will ave the necessary padding and it is very much worth the money. If you wanted to look at something a little more high quality the 2016 Mizuno Global Elite Series Catchers Mitt: GXC11 is a great option. Really you cannot go wrong with either one.

How does this 34" size compare to a 44 Pro catcher's mitt 33.5" size? spencer
Besides the Mizuno Samurai Pro Series: GXC31 Catcher's Mitt being bigger, the main difference will be in the leather construction. The Mizuno will be easier to break in as it is constructed from full grain leather shell while the other catcher's mitt is comprised of steerhide leather.
Cameron
Can this glove be used for fastpitch softball? A teammate of mine has this glove and I love the thumb guard, but is there any reason why I should not get it since it is considered a baseball mitt? MG
The Mizuno Samurai Pro Series: GXC31 Catcher's Mitt can be used for softball, but it features a smaller pocket designed for baseball so you will want to consider that before purchasing.
Logan
Would this be a good glove for high school and college level play? My son uses the Mizuno GXC93 and he like it a lot, but now and with the higher pitching velocities (80-85mph) it hurts his hand. He is 6'2" and about 230 pounds. Thanks Darryl
This glove should work just fine for high school play. I would probably recommend something a bit higher quality for college play or when you start seeing velocities of 85+ more regularly, as I wouldn't anticipate the padding holding up much more than one season against 85+.
Kyle J.
Can I have a wrist guard attached to this glove with purchase? Ryan
We do not customize gloves since we do not manufacturer them, so we would not be able to add this on.
