The big factor that will get a lot of young backstops to check out this mitt is going to be the extra protection that Mizuno adds to the thumb portion of it. When a catcher slips on this mitt, it is going to feel like they are putting their thumb into a cast within the mitt. Their thumb will be tightly secured while in the mitt and it will be protected from any excess pounding that could be caused by catching a baseball.
Lastly, this mitt is going to be perfect for players aged 7 years old to 13 years old. It will have a snug fit that should keep it nice and tight on a youth player's hand. Because of this fitting, it would not be one that we really recommend for adults catching their young players.

My 10 yo son has a Mizuno GXC110 for 2+ yrs and it's time to upgrade as he is going to club ball. The GXC112 seems the closest to the 110, but the GXC95Y3 reads as the better choice, so I'm leaning that way. Which would be the better option? If it's the 95Y3, does it being 33 inches pose an issue and how long to break it in? Aaron
Is this mitt a good choice for the money? My son is 11, will be 12 in Sept., and looking for a mitt that will last him a couple years for catching. Ryan
I'm 15, but I have small hands. Is this glove for youth because of the glove size or the durability of the glove? The average speed of the pitches at my level will probably be no more than 75 mph. Thanks! Alex
