Pros: Great for 11" softballs. Easy to start using.

Cons: Not a good fit for a 12u catcher & 12" ball. Ball doesn't get deep enough unless perfectly caught where web meets palm.

Pros: For those wanting a catchers mitt for higher end pitches in the 7-10 year old range this glove is about the best I think you can find. My daughter catches and needed a little more protection since she receives a lot of pitches. It was really hard to find a glove that would work that she could control. This is not a "until high school" glove, but for the money it should make it a couple years of catching 15-20 tournaments a year, practices and playing catch. At that point she may have grown enough for a higher end glove. Generally speaking making a hinge for a young girl should be easy. Out of the box she could close it - put on some conditioner and it's getting easier and easier for her to do.

Cons: Finger placement in the glove is an issue, but I suspect this will subside as she gets used to it.

Is this mitt good for 14u softball with a 12" ball? She is a younger catcher, but seems her 31.5" glove is just a little too small for the ball. mike
At that age, your player is most likely ready for a more standard fitting glove, such as the Mizuno Franchise 34" Fastpitch Softball Catcher's Mitt: GXS90F2. With the Mizuno Prospect Select 32.5" Youth Catcher's Mitt: GXS102 being a youth model, it may be a bit small on the hand for a 14 year old player.

We do not have a glove sizing chart, as the size of glove (especially with catcher's mitts) is mostly down to personal preference. Some prefer a larger glove, some a smaller glove. I would probably look at getting an adult model and not a youth model though. At her age she would most likely be able to use an adult glove.

A 32.50'' glove would be an appropriate size for her age. You could move up to a 33'' as well if you wanted. Both sizes would be appropriate.
