Description

The Global Elite series has become one of Mizuno's most popular Pro Level glove lines. With the VOP series of Global Elite gloves, Mizuno has outdone themselves again. VOP stands for Vibration Oil Process. This is unique conditioning treatment that creates soft, yet extremely durable leather. This conditioning process entails each component of the glove to be hand-oiled with Mizuno's Strong Oil Elite. All Global Elite VOP gloves are made with the highest quality American steer hide that is Japanese tanned to create a perfect feeling leather. Every Global Elite has a new Roll Welting to increase structure and support throughout the fingers. With a lightweight feel and extra structural support, these gloves are quick to the ball and will retain their shape for years to come. Each Mizuno baseball glove is handcrafted to the highest quality control standards. All of Mizuno's glove craftsmen have been through a rigorous certification process overseen by Master Craftsmen Kosaku Kishumoto (fielder's gloves) and Kuni Nakamura (mitts) who together have over 65 years of experience making ball gloves. Pros: Leather comes in extremely stiff, but it took 1 hour to break in surprisingly. It definitely forms to your hand and leave imprints where your hands are. Leather is one of the nicest I've ever seen. The web is pretty durable.

Cons: The fingers become very weak and sometimes can give the glove a weird form.

Pros: The flat pocket shape and the Axiom Cut heel makes for really predictable fielding and ball transfer. It's also light and has seemingly high quality leather.

Cons: Like others have said, it can get a little "floppy", especially the fingers (probably from Mizuno's strategy to trim weight from the tips of the fingers to keep the center of gravity closer to the hand). It does feel easy to control, but sometimes I worry that a hard hit ball will bend the glove too much and pop out.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Global Elite VOP Series: GGE52VAX? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What are your thoughts of expediting break-in, through a combination of steam and oil? Would that be detrimental to the glove? BBDad
To properly break in this Mizuno Global Elite VOP Series (GGE52VAX), I would actually avoid the use of steaming and oil/conditioner. I would suggest avoiding steaming because the water used in the process of steaming will eventually evaporate from the glove and dry out the leather. The use of oil/conditioner can be avoided as well until the glove begins to dry out with extended use (frequent use of conditioner will weigh down the glove). For starting out, I would recommend diligent use to get the glove game-ready. However, the VOP process used to make this glove will make the break-in process pretty easy!

Does this glove have a fur wrist pad like the Pro Soft Series? T-Bray
This Mizuno Global Elite VOP Series (GGE52VAX) will have an antimicrobial cushioned wrist pad. Therefore, I would say it will be slightly different from the fur pad on the Pro Soft Series.

What does the LV series stand for? Roger
Mizuno does not have a series of gloves called the LV line. LV is just an extra descriptor they seem to add onto a few models, usually with gloves that have the VOP (Vibration Oil Process) applied. It may refer to a change in that process, but you can contact Mizuno directly for more information.
