Pros: My son likes the glove and I see a differance in his fielding also. The glove design makes since. I am from the old school where you formed a rounded edge on the glove. This design is the opposite and seems to work.

Cons: none yet

Pros: my school handed out these gloves for free, and the day i got mine i used it i the infield and outfield in a game. Despite it being unbroken in I still caught 2 pop flies, fielded 3 ground balls, and caught 7 other balls thrown to me with no drops. It also looks sweet and already comes in a perfect shape. I also have a had an a2k, nokana, and an a2000 and this glove is just as good or better.

Cons: It gets dirty since it is white, but I don't think it makes a different.

Pros: I got this glove for Christmas which was yesterday so I haven't used it in a game yet but everything about this glove is hard to beat. I have used my friends pro preferred before and I would prefer this mitt any day, especially for it's looks and feel. The inside of this glove is more comfortible to put your had in than a pro preferred and any A2000. Mesh back is just as comfortable maybe more and brings a cool look to the glove. Its also breaking in really quick. 80 bucks cheaper than pro preferred, buy it.

Cons: no cons

Pros: An amazing glove!!! Very light, fantastic leather, unique web and deepest pocket I've ever seen! Defenitely better or equal to the quality of a pro preffered, and $80 cheaper!!!!!

Cons: White/Gray laces lose some color when playing catch, but that won't effect performance at all.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series: FL1151SS? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

how deep is the pocket in this glove? would it be good for a second baseman, or would an 11.25 be better? mike
It has a shallower pocket because it is designed for middel infield play. You could go smaller but I think you would be fine in this model.
Mark
does this glove have a deeper pocket than other gloves such as the a2000 or pro proffered of the same size? trent
Because of the flare design of this glove it does have a nice pocket.
Linda
does the mesh back make this glove lighter? and does this glove have a deep pocket than other infield models? seth h
The mesh material will make the glove a little lighter in weight. The FL1151S also has a slighter deeper than average pocket.
Derek
i have the fl1125c and it has a deep pocket i love these gloves but i hate a deep pocket does this have that seth h
The FL1151S will have a deeper than average pocket.
Derek
will this glove be good for a 2nd basemen??? cjmalave
Yes, this bat is designed for a middle infielder.
John
Is this glove good for pitching just like the 11.75? Robert
Yes, this is a perfect size for a pitcher or infielder.
Kara
I'm 6'3" and have big hands and play 3rd base. Is this mitt to small for me? Joe
Thank you for your question. If you are playing third base, I would recommend a 11 and 3/4 inch glove. The Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series: FL1175SS model would work well for you.
Nick
Could this glove be ok to use as an outfielder I don't like the big gloves? Baseball star
Sure. When it comes to gloves, almost 100% of the decision comes down to your own personal preference. Some players prefer a smaller than average glove, others prefer a larger than average glove, and both are absolutely okay. If you prefer a smaller glove for the outfield, this would be a good option.
Tyler
Would this be a reasonable glove to use at 2nd base? I'm 16 years old, and I play for my high school varsity team. Colton
Since the Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series: FL1151SS is 11.50 inches, it would be a great fit for a high school second baseman.
Tom
Would this glove be good for my 9 year old son? He plays pitcher and outfield? D.C.
Yes. This would be a good glove considering he also plays outfield. Outfielders often like a glove that is a little bigger to snag those tough to catch balls.
Damon
Which is higher end, the TPX Pro Flare or this? Cmoney
The Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series and the Pro Flare Series are going to be the same quality gloves. The Silver Sluggers are going to have a mesh backing and the Pro Flares have a leather backing.
Nick K.
Would this be a good glove for a high school pitcher/shortstop? Would the light colors be an issue when pitching? YMCMB
The Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series would be perfect for a pitcher/shortstop. However, we recommend not to use the light colored glove for pitching. We suggest the Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1151CC.
Kara

Kara
Which glove would be better? This or the Wilson A2000 for a high school second/shortstop? Pearson

Nick

The Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series is being discontinued and therefore the price has been dropped. It is still an excellent glove with great durability.
Kara
Has it really been discontinued, and if so, why? yanks27
The Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series has been discontinued. The manufacture does not give us a reason, but most likely they will come out with a new model this year.
Kara
Will the new glove be looking different or the same? Thank you! yanks27
At this time, we have not received the specifications from Louisville Slugger to determine what the new series will look like.
Kara
I am moving on to the big 60-90 field and im a good outfielder. Im fast so I would like to have a light glove. I see there is mesh on this Louisville Slugger and like it a lot. Is this a good glove to use? firebreath1
The Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Flare Series will be very lightweight but this particular model, FL1151SS, is 11.50" which is a little small for outfield play. We would recommend at least a 12" glove for outfield play.
Tom
Is this glove recommended to a 15 year old middle infielder? Kv
Yes, the Louisville Slugger TPX Silver Slugger Flare Series would be a great choice for a 15 year old middle infielder.
Nick

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
