Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1300CC? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

which is better in aan honest opinion, this one or the sliver slugger gray one and why Shinny
It really comes down to which color you like best. The design and type of leather used will be the same in each and the ultimate decision is simply which color scheme the player likes the best. Both are high quality gloves.
Brett
what pocket do you get? single post web or trapeeze? shinny
With this glove you receive a trapeze web. The pocket in this glove is going to be a little deeper then normal.
Brett
Would this be a good slowpitch softball glove? T-Dog
At 13 inches and with a flare design for a larger catching surface, this would be a good slow pitch glove.
Brett
Is this more of a slow pitch glove or baseball? Reid
The FL1000CC can be used for both baseball and softball play in the outfield. The extra deep pocket is perfect for softball and baseball play in the outfield. Because of the trapeze web it should only be used for outfield play.
Mark
which is the best of the three leathers horween, kip,or steerhide hollywood12
Horween is a tannery in Chicago where Wilson receives their leather from. They produce high-quality leathers and most are made from steerhide leather (and the FL1300CC is made from their steerhide leather). Kip and Steerhide will both be on par in terms of durability, but steerhide glove often tend to hold their shape a little better over time. Steerhide will be a little stiffer and heavier than Kip as well.
Mark
how does this glove compare to the pro preffred or wilson a2k hollywood12
In my opinion the Pro Flares are a little stiffer than the a2k and the pro preferred but the overall quality is the same. All three are great gloves.
Mark
are these in stock or backorder and if so when will you get more in hollywood
All options available on the website are in stock and ready to ship. As of 9/21/11, we have the right hand throws in stock, but not the left hand throws. Our next shipment of FL1300CC gloves is expected around the first week of December.
Mark
We only show what we have in stock.

I tried on a 12.75 flare at sports authority and it seemed liked it was smaller than a normal 12.75. It almost seemed like a 12.50, so is the 13.00 more like a 12.75? Red Mtn. baseball
I've heard from multiple people that they think the Pro Flare gloves fit just a little snug and slightly smaller...and I would tend to agree. A 13 inch Pro Flare sounds like a good choice for you.
Tyler
Do you think this would be a good glove for softball as well? kyle
Absolutely! The extra deep pocket of the Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series would work just fine for softball or baseball play.
Jennifer
What is the best method for breaking this glove in? I have the 12.75 bar web design. I've heard soaking it in water and tossing a heavy ball works best. True? Harper
Three words... Repetition, repetition, repetition. Just repeated use is the best way to break in a glove. Do not soak it in water. This may help break it in quicker, but it will also jeopardize the integrity of the glove and cause the leather to break down faster. Tyler
How would this glove do for slow pitch outfield? seaneeeg
The Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1300CC could be used for outfield play in slow pitch softball, but the pocket would be a little narrow since it is a baseball model.
Tom
Is this glove too big for a 14 year old about 5'2" playing outfield? jack
We recommend a 12.50" to a 12.75" for your age and position. The Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1275CC would be a good alternative.
Kara
How much does this glove weigh? LoveInTheGame
Unfortunately, glove weights are not released by the manufacturer. However, the Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1300CC will be average in weight for a 13" model of similar quality.
Tyler
What exactly is the difference in the 12.75" Louisville Slugger Pro Flare and Omaha Flare? Leather, Lacing, etc.? Hunter
The Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1300CC is made of a higher grade Horween leather that will prove to be more durable with a quicker break-in period than the Omaha Flare's steerhide leather. The Pro Flare also features a deeper pocket and a single post web, as compared to the Omaha Flare's six finger web.
Katie
What are the differences between this glove and the Louisville Slugger TPX Icon Series: IC1275? :)
The Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1300CC will be a 13.00" glove and the Louisville Slugger TPX Icon Series: IC1275 will be a 12.75" glove.
Noah
Do these gloves get floppy quickly? D-RAW
The Louisville Slugger TPX Pro Flare Series: FL1300CC glove features top grade Horween leather and would retain the shape and not get floppy quickly.
Aubrey

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
