Pros: I bought this glove for my 10 yr old little league/10u club baller. He plays shortstop and loved it from the get-go. He was pleased with how fast and easy it broke in. he bought the 11.50 and I believe this should last him for many years to come as a middle infielder..

Cons: absolutely nothing.

Pros: This glove is an amazing value. The structure is very well made and durable. Love it so much I may buy a second one in case I lose the first one. Had a $399 Wilson A2K but gave it to a family member as I liked this glove much better...and all for less than a quarter of the price!

Cons: Absolutely, none. All gloves need to be broken in and this one is no different.

Pros: Absolutely great quality for the money. Stiff perimeter with a shallow pocket is perfect for the mid infield. Holds shape well has good padding & I love the sound of a ball hitting the leather.

Cons: I lost mine after I had it perfectly broken in. Takes more effort than expected to break in but worth it. Younger players who want a deeper pocket should look at the Flare series.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series: OPRO1154? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My 8 year old son currently uses this glove: Mizuno GPP1151 Prospect Youth Baseball Glove (11.5"). He plays centerfield and first base. Would he be able to handle this Omaha glove? Are there youth Omaha gloves? mdogg56
The OPRO1154 is a pretty high quality glove. It would probably take quite some time to break it in to the point where an 8 year old can use it with ease. Louisville's Omaha Crossover Series would be a better option for a younger player. They'll be made from a softer leather that will be easier for a younger player to use before transitioning to an adult style glove.

Hello, I am looking at purchasing this glove for recreational use during the occasional ball game with friends and while practicing with my niece for fastpitch. I currently have a 12.5 Rawlings Mark of A Pro glove, but wanted to give this glove a try so I could work on my fielding. Is this a quality glove that will last? I am an adult male and I'm wondering if this 11.5 would be ok to use (or if it would be too small). Thanks in advance- AJ
I think an 11.5 inch glove would suit you well for use on the baseball field. I've known infielders in high school and college who've used a glove as small as 11 inches but others who have used a glove as big as 12.25 or 12.5 inches. It really comes down to personal preference. For me, a 11.75 inch glove felt the best when playing the infield. A 11.5 inch glove may be a little too small for playing catch with your niece with a softball, but it would be manageable.

Do you think the webbing in this glove is ok for pitching in high school, or will you be able to see finger movements through it? Daniel27
I think it would be okay for a pitcher to use. I've seen multiple pitchers use a modified trap glove. I don't think you'll have any issues.

My son plays on an 11U travel team, he plays center field but does spend some time at 3rd. He's average size for his age group. He currently uses a 11.25 Nike glove and would like a deeper pocket. Would this glove offer this option, will it be heavier than the Nike and will it fit a smaller hand? A-Dawg
Yes, the omaha pro will fit a smaller hand and is a great option for a player who wants a quailty glove under $100. At his age that size glove should work just fine in botht the outfield and the infield.
Mark
Will this glove fit an 11 year olds hand who is a little bigger than average and is this glove all leather? Kenny
This glove is all leather and it should fit your 11 year old just fine. I know a few adults (18 years +) who use this glove and it fits them very well.
TJ
My son is 8 playing in a 9u travel ball team and he is using a tpx slugger 12.25, he is doing fine with it. I know its to big for him i like this glove what size glove do u think i should get for him. He plays infield, pitch and outfield. Paulie
This will be a great fit for him. This is a very durable glove that has good padding. If the glove does not work for him you can always return it within 100 days for a refund of exchange.
KG
My son is playing 11U travel and is looking to upgrade. He plays 2nd and outfield. Please let me know if the pro series 11.5 or the Flare 11.5 would suit him better. Huck
Both are made for infielders. The Flare Series is going to have a slightly bigger pocket. The Pro Flare is a higher quality of leather and will be more durabe than the Pro Series.

Do you really have to use that glove oil stuff because it seems like a pain? I play catch with my son who plays for the atlee all stars and i was wondering if we played catch everyday would it eventually break in without the oil. Beast Man
No. Players of all ages and skill levels have been breaking gloves in without glove oil for over a century now. Glove oil just helps to break it in quicker. If you were to ask your average major league or collegiate ballplayer, they would tell you that repetition is key and glove oil is not needed.
Tyler
What padding do you think is better, the Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series or the Rawling Gold Glove Legend Series? Thanks again for all your help. nate
The Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series and the Rawlings Gold Glove Legend Series have about the same amount of padding.
Zach
My son is 13 1/2 and will start high school next fall. He primarily plays SS, 3B, and P. I almost got him an Omaha Select model as a youth as I've always liked them. Looking at this as a first "adult" primary glove. Would like thoughts on this and suggestions for other quality/high value gloves to look at ( I don't have the resources to go $200+). RSMBob
The Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series: OPRO1154 would be a fine choice for the 13 year old player. This glove will be 11.50" which is typically found to be the size choice of middle infielders. It could also be used as a third baseman or pitcher. The leather will be professional grade steer hide and oil-treated. Is this glove good for a 14 year old third baseman that plays c prep and is going into high school next year? Beast22
Yes, the Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series: OPRO1154 should work well for a high school third baseman.
Jeff
Is this glove durable, and will last for a couple yrs. second is this glove good for a 12 year old. I don't want to. Buy a heavy glove and would like a light glove. My sons glove is very heavy right now. HotHand12
The Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series: OPRO1154 features an 11.50" pattern size and would be a good model for a 12 year old infielder. Price is the best indicator of leather quality and durability, but this glove should last a couple seasons with good care. I would not consider this a "heavy" glove, but we have a 100 Day Guarantee on our new gloves so you can try it out for yourself.
Mac
Is this glove heavy? Hot hand 55
The Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series: OPRO1154 is made with professional grade steer hide and will have some weight to it. It won't be too heavy but it won't be as light as their TPX HD9 Series that has a mesh back.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
