Pros: Bought this for my 13yo son who plays travel ball and catches - he's a lefty and the fact it came in a left throw was a plus - It was fairly soft when it arrived and has taken little to get it going - it will need a few good hard bullpen sessions and some good hard massaging to get it game ready, but it should not take more than a couple of weeks - it is built nicely and seems to be padded in the right places - he seems very happy with it and has caught some practice games already.

Cons: Not game ready, but what glove ever is?

I would reccommend either a 31 inch or 31.5 inch mitt for a 10 year old. Easton NE2Y, Rawlings RCMYB, Glovesmith GP3102, Akadema ADS90, or Louisville GENYCM would all be good options that would break in pretty easy.

for a 14 yr old boy who needs a new catchers mitt. He had an old glovesmith worth $250 it was a little to big and the glove has to be bigger than 33.5 how big should i get? izzy

Honestly, for a 14 year old, a 33 inch catcher's mitt is typically recommended. However, if the glove has to be bigger than 33.5 inches, then I wouldn't go any bigger than 34 inches. 34.5 or 35 inches would be too big for a 14 year old in my opinion.

My son is a 12 yr. old Travel ball catcher. A year ago he switched to an adult fastpitch softball catchers glove and is excellent with it. We have noticed a few big league catchers using similar gloves. Are there any baseball catcher gloves out there similar? Flare series ? Griff

The closest comparison of a baseball catchers to a fastpitch softball catchers mitt would be model CM3000KM by All Star. It's designed/marketed as a knuckleball catchers mitt and will have thinner padding around the edge of the mitt and a larger pocket.

Looking for oversize mitt to catch my 16 year old high school son. For years I have used an Easton youth mitt but he throws too hard now. Does it make sense to move to a 34" mitt? From a price perspective (and available in left hand throw ) is there much difference in the Easton red line RLX 24B and the NE 24? Any other suggestions? Dan

I think this would be an excellent option for you and you shouldn't have a problem playing with it. I think moving up to a 34" (or at least a 33") mitt would be beneficial to you. The leather used in the NE24 will be a little higher quality than the RLX24B.

Would this be a good glove for Dad with a size 91/2 hand to catch my 11 year old daughter with? I also was looking at the Mizuno Franchise Pro Series GXS92? mike

This is a baseball catchers mitt and its pocket will probably be too small to accomodate a softball. The GXS92 if a fastpitch softball mitt, but it will be stitched tighter to fit a smaller hand of a female and most adult men will find it pretty uncomfortable to use. I would recommend either a 13 inch baseball firstbase mitt or a 13 inch baseball fielders glove.
