Description

Partnering with global footwear company ECCO, Wilson is taking glove innovation to the next level with the Pro Yak Series. Made from the skin of Himalayan Yak, ECCO and Wilson discovered that yak leather has extraordinary strength and durability. This strength has been one of the best-kept secrets in the industry, until now. In fact, due to the rugged and rough terrain that yak live in, this leather is up to 3x stronger than cowhide! This allows Wilson to skive the hide thinner, providing players with a much lighter and more manageable glove. It also makes for a quicker break-in and a soft, game-ready feel right off the shelf... without sacrificing any durability! With 2x Palm Construction, the Pro Yak Series features a thin strategically cut piece of leather between the palm liner and outer shell, providing maximum padding and pocket stability. A lower profile heel makes the glove more flexible and opens up the palm and pocket to make the glove more forgiving on bad-hop grounders. These Pro Stock patterns are exclusively hand designed by the Wilson Advisory Staff to make sure these gloves have top of the line quality. Wilson: Official Ball Glove of Major League Baseball! Pros: The Yak is incredibly tough yet very soft and easy to break in. I have had my for a year and it is incredibly comfortable. I coach and have caught thousands of balls with it. There is no sign of shredding, stretching or tearing. Absolutely a great glove. It has a great pocket and soft web for easy ball transfer. I will be getting one for my son shortly.

Cons: none. Even the price is good. Better than gloves twice as expensive.

Pros: Awesome glove! Had it for about 2 seasons, my everyday glove and still looks brand new. Real easy break-in and nice feel.

Cons: None so far, I would buy another but that makes no sense!

Pros: Played catch for 20 minutes with a weighted ball and it was completely broken in. Fits great and is well made. Works great at third.

Cons: Formed a deep pocket so if you don't like that, be careful shaping it.

Pros: This glove is amazing! Never had a better ball glove in my 8 years of playing ball. I'm an outfielder and prefer a smaller mitt, so I picked this up in 11.75". After being broken in and beaten, the pocket was bigger than the pocket on my old 13 inch ball glove. Buy this mitt!

Pros: I love this glove, I am 11 years old, I mainly play infield and pitcher. This glove does not take very much time to break in. I love the padding on the inside, it offers great fit.

Cons: I don't think there are any bad things about this glove! I reccomend it to anybody that needs an all around glove!

Pros: Great price and break in was little to nothing, same Wilson quality as my A2K. Bought it for my son who out grew his Glove Smith Field Commander; he loves the trapeeze look and softer leather--which makes it perfect for him.

Cons: I'm confident there wont be; as stated above the quality mirrors my A2K, the only difference being the softer leather. My son's previous glove was a softer leather and the only reason for the upgrade was he out grew it. No worries with it lasting at all.

Pros: Just received in the mail today. So far I like it. looks more shapeable than the thicker "heart of the hide" series gloves with the Wilson quality.

Cons: the only con would be that this material "yak" is so new that nobody really knows the longevity. I think it should be fine.

is this glove like most wilson a2000's but just more game ready? dneezy
You are correct. It is made similar to the the a2000's but it will be more game ready.
K.B.
I am looking at this glove for my 12 year old son, but I am worried about hand size. tj
Nokona gloves do run small, so I think the size will be fine for a 12 year old.
K.B.
Is this glove just as good as a wilson a2000? Chris
The Wilson Pro Yak gloves are great mitts, but won't be quite as high in quality as the A2000 Series. The A2000 gloves will be constructed with a leather that's a little higher in quality and a little more durable.
Tyler
Should glove oil be used on Yak gloves to help protect it and break it in? Brad
Yes I recommend putting glove oil on any glove to get the most life out of your glove, and to help break the glove in.
Noah
Is this glove better than the A1000? Jroth117
The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series: BBBW38 uses a higher quality leather than the Wilson A1000. It will be more durable.
Kara
Would this glove be good for a 5' 1", 13-year-old outfielder? I'm afraid it will be too small. pals
The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series: BBBW38 is an 11.75" pattern which would be more for a third baseman. We would recommend a 12.50" pattern for an outfielder. http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/

Just received the Shoeless Joe 11.50". wondering if this model will have better padding on the palm for my 10 year old? ajw
The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series: BBBW38 has great padding. However, it is an adult glove and will be a little too big for a 10 year old. We recommend a youth 11.25" to a 11.50" glove. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Showcase Baseball Glove: SCDW5SS Youth would be a good option for you.
Kara
Is this the glove I should get for a 14 yr old 5'3" for a 2nd basemen? She has the yak catcher mitt she uses when she catches. kdog
The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series (BBBW38) is a baseball glove and not designed for fastpitch. We recommend the Wilson A2000 Series (FPH1175) Fastpitch.
