Description

The Wilson A1000 SuperSkin Series has been improved once again; this time with the focus being on softness. The A1000 SuperSkin Series uses Wilson's exclusive ECCO Leather inside and out, leaving you with a consistent break-in and feel. The ECCO Leather is one of the highest grade game-ready leathers available and is found only on Wilson gloves. On the back of these baseball gloves players will find SuperSkin, an innovative material that is 2x stronger and lighter than leather, to create a glove that is not only more durable but lighter too. The A1000 SuperSkin Series gloves offer the new Dri-Lex Technology which is an ultra-breathable wrist lining that transfers moisture away from the skin, keeping your hand cool and dry. A1000 Series gloves also feature the patented Dual-Welting system that offers a pre-curved finger design that helps maintain a stable and durable pocket. The Dual Welting technology is a patented design used exclusively by Wilson in the United States. The A1000 uses a Sorbothane Palm Pad which is a revolutionary material that diffuses shock away from the hand, giving your hand maximum protection. These gloves also offer MLB Pro Patterns which provide consistency and control. All patterns are endlessly field tested and constantly improved by hundreds of professional and top amateur players. Pros: Soft, already somewhat broken in. Great for a 12 to 13 year old catcher. My son was thrilled with it.

how does the size of this mitt compare to the pudge? I am looking for something that will fit a larger hand. this will not get a ton of use so i did not want to pay for a a2000. how heavy duty is a mitt like this one? any better options? pitchers dad
It's going to be similar in size. It would be a great glove for what you are using it for. The leather is a little softer than the Pudge model, but still very durable.

This glove is listed on Wilsons web-site as a "junor" size. Is it for youth with smaller hands? I need it for a 10 year old catcher. Thanks Ed
This glove does run small and be perfect for a 10 year old. This glove is designed with smaller finger stalls than adult glove for a tighter fit younger players.
Kris
Would this be a good glove for a 15 year old, who catchers every other game? I need a mitt because i don't like the one my team provides. Bobby
The average size catcher's mitt for a 15 year old is 32.5 to 33.5 inches. This is a very good quality mitt you should have great success with.
Tyler
What size would you recommend for a 13 year old everyday catcher? Peter
We recommend a 32.00" to a 32.50" catcher's mitt.
Kara
my son is 12 yrs old catches everyday is this a good fit? the youth glove seems to small durham
A 32" or 32.5" catcher's mitt is recommended for a 12 year old. The BB1791SS should fit your son very well.
Tyler
How does this compare with the A2000? My son uses an A1000 infielder's glove and loves it but we need a catchers mitt. Scott
The A2000 Series uses a higher quality leather compared to the A1000 Series and will be a little stiffer and more durable.
Tyler
What would you recommend for a 13 year old player who intends on using it for 2 or 3 seasons, the A1000, A2000, or the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh? hi
The Wilson A2000 will be more durable than the Wilson A1000 SuperSkin series.
Kara
My son is 11 and plays on a travel baseball team. I am interested in purchasing a glove to last the next few years. Would this be a good fit for him? parent
The Wilson A1000 SuperSkin Series: BB1791SS Catcher's Mitt would be a great choice for your 11 year old. He would be able to use this mitt for his entire high school career if his hand size allows. This is a top model in Wilson's glove/mitt line behind the A2K and A2000. The great thing about this particular model is the Superskin. Superskin is 2 times stronger and lighter than leather. It will have a lightweight feel and an easier break-in period because it is made with Wilson's Ecco Leather. It will feature Extra Palm Padding and a Half Moon Web. A young catcher will absolutely love this Mitt.
Brandon
Is this glove a youth model or an adult model? I'm a 14 year old catcher and a freshman, would you recommend this glove for me? r
The Wilson A1000 SuperSkin Series: BB1791SS Catcher's Mitt is an adult model and would work great for your entire high school career. This model features Superskin that is two times stronger and lighter than leather. It would be a very good option for a 14 year old catcher.
Aubrey
I am 11 years old. I want a non youth catchers glove. Would this be good for me? hitstreak9
The 32.50" Wilson A1000 SuperSkin Series: BB1791SS Catcher's Mitt would be a good fit for an 11 year old with larger hands.
Marcus
Hi, I am an adult with average size hands. I routinely catch pitching practices for my 16 and 14 yr old boys and my current catchers mitt lacks the padding I need. I am debating between the Wilson A1000, Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series: OPROCM Catcher's Mitt and the Nike N1 Air. I have tried on the Omaha and Nike in the past, So which of those three base on quality, durability and protection Shawn
In terms of leather quality and durability, the Wilson A1000 SuperSkin Series: BB1791SS is the best option. The Louisville Slugger Omaha Pro Series: OPROCM has slightly better padding, but not by much.
Tyler
I am a freshman in high school and a backup catcher I am between the freshmen and JV team (They switch me between the two). Should I get this? I want my glove to fit my entire high school career and to keep it's shape. Can I use oil on the palm? Noah
At 32.5", the Wilson A1000 SuperSkin Series: BB1791SS Catcher's Mitt is a good size for a freshman in High School. It has average durability and should last 2-3 seasons. If you want something that will be a little more durable, I would recommend an A2000 model. Yes, you can oil the palm.
Tyler
I am trying to find a catchers mitt for fast pitch softball. I coach a team and need a catchers mitt to catch as the pitchers warm up. A adult male with average to above average size hands. Dano
The Wilson A1000 SuperSkin Series: BB1791SS Catcher's Mitt is a 32.5" model. That might run a bit small for a adult with above average hands. We would suggest a 34" size catcher's mitt.
