Description

The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series provided an industry-first design with its Kipskin Leather construction. Ever since, it has been a staple for many of baseball's elite players. Each Pro Preferred glove begins with the selection of the high-quality Kip Leather. This leather is only picked from hides weighing 30 pounds or less, giving the end product a lighter feel than a similar design made of Steerhide. Pro Preferred leather features a tight grain structure which leads to a supple feel, exceptional durability, and custom break-in for the player. Every inch of the Pro Preferred Series exudes a premium quality. Rawlings requires the laces in each glove to reach 100 lbs tensile strength in testing; where strength is needed most. Each model is also exceptionally comfortable with its Pittards Performance Sheepskin Palm Lining, new Deertouch Finger Back Lining, and the 100% wool padding to ensure a premium fit.

This Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt is the game-day design of Adrian Gonzalez and features a 12.25 Inch Pattern, H-Web, and Double Heel Break Design. Pick yours up today with our Fast, Free Shipping and 100 Day Money-Back Guarantee!

Pros: I had the previous Adrian Gonzalez model, the black one and from what I know this one is exactly the same aside from the color. This is a great glove. Leather is 2nd to none and it breaks in perfectly

Cons: The Price :(

Legal Eagle

Pros: This is a superb quality leather glove with one of the better design patterns. It actually feels much larger than the 12.25 inch pattern would suggest it should be. I only wish that Justballgloves had had it in stock when I finally went to purchase it. I had to buy it elsewhere. I understood this model had been discontinued and wasn't going to be available anymore.

Cons: Way too expensive. Glove manufacturers, if they keep this up, are going to price themselves out of the market for the recreational user or for parents looking to put a really good product in their kids hands to improve their fielding capabilities.

Have a question about the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Why doesn't Rawlings make any 13.00" first base mitts with a fastback design?
dude
When creating their first base mitts, Rawlings must have decided that the fastback design for a 13" mitt was not a design that would very popular for players searching to get first base mitts. Because of that, they limited their first base mitts with the fast back design to this 2016 Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove (PROSFM20C First Base Mitt) and the PROFM20JBS First which are both available in the 12.25" length.
Ben
DO YOU CUSTOM EMBROID THE PLAYERS NAME ON THESE GLOVES?
ROBERT
Unfortunately we don't do direct embroidery for the 2016 Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt or any other gloves. You can get a custom name added through Rawlings custom glove builder here: http://www.justballgloves.com/product/rawlings-custom-glove/22318/

Is this glove to big for an 12 year old?
Jc
Typically, a player around the age of 12 will move into an adult fitting glove. The 2016 Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt is a stiff glove to start off with and it will take a while to break-in, but it should work well for a player that is 12 and up.
Jason
How long will it take a 12 year old to break in this glove (assuming that we get is steamed first)?
Trystar
I would imagine that this 2016 Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove (PROSFM20C First Base Mitt) will take a few weeks at a minimum to break in and get ready for game use. More realistically though, it will probably take a-couple-to-a-few months to get it exactly how you like it. Also, I would recommend avoiding the steamers with this mitt. They do soften the leather, but once the moisture evaporates out of the glove, the leather will dry out and start to show some signs of cracking/distress. The best way to break-in a glove is with extensive use and a little glove oil when the leather starts to show some dryness.
Ben
Does this glove play bigger than actually measured or does it play true to size?
Tyler
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt will be true to size, but depending on the shape of the break in could play larger.
Max
How stiff is this glove out of the box?
John
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt will be quite stiff on arrival, which allows for the player to break-in the glove exactly to their liking.
Tyler
Interested for my 12 year old; does it say Adrian Gonzalez on the glove?
Douglas
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt will say "A. Gonzalez" on the inside thumb of the glove.
Max
Looking to buy for my 12 year old who will be turning 13 by start of next season. Is there a 12.25" glove for youth? Or is there just the one size for youth and adult?
GP
The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series Adrian Gonzalez Game Day Glove: PROSFM20C First Base Mitt is certainly designed with the adult fit in mind. This mitt could be too big still for a 12-13 year old player. One could wear a batting glove to help with fit or consider a youth model such as the 2017 Rawlings Gamer Youth Pro Taper 12" First Base Mitt: GFM16B.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings' glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
