For your 8 year old grandson, I would recommend going with the following model from Nokona: 2016 Nokona Alpha Select Series Baseball Glove (S-200 Youth). The reason I would recommend the S-200 Youth over this 2016 Nokona Select Plus Series Glove (SV-17) is because the S-200 Youth will have fitting and an 11.25" length that will be more beneficial for an 8 year old player when compared to the larger fitting and 12.00" length of this SV-17 model.

This 2016 Nokona Select Plus Series Glove (SV-17) is described as a 12.00" utility glove that can be used across baseball, fastpitch and slowpitch play. Typically, the 12.00" length is solid for a 2B playing fastpitch. As well, I think the pocket will be deep enough to handle a 12.00" softball and the glove will have a snug fit that should fit a female hand. If you wanted another 12.00" Nokona model that has received good reviews to compare to this glove, I would recommend looking at the 2016 Nokona Buckaroo Black Fastpitch Series: BKF-1200CBLK (BS1200CBLK).

I am wondering is this glove will fit my son's tiny hands. He is 11 yrs old but only weighs about 64 lbs and stands 54 inches tall. Plays a little bit of 2nd base and mostly center field on a high level travel baseball team. I was also looking at the Nokona S-222. Dave
The Nokona SV17 model would probably be a good option for someone with small hands due to the adjustable wrist strap. The Nokona S-222 would also be a good option. Despite not having the wrist strap like the SV17 model, the S-222 is constructed for youth players with a smaller hand opening and tighter finger stalls.
