Pros: durable stiff leather, smells great, big pocket

Cons: 13.5 is great for the outfield and a bit too big for an all around player. I would recommend getting the buckaroo series, just a little softer and game ready

Pros: American Made!! Top quality-very durable so it should last forever.

Cons: Plan on working hard to break it in. This glove seems much larger than cheaper 13 inch gloves.

Pros: Awesome leather, strong, durable, won't take long to break in...great pocket, perfect for OF, 3b, 1b, size is more like a 13" than a 13.5"

Cons: NONE !

Pros: Unrivaled leather quality. Nice pocket. Best thing is that it fits people (like me) with larger sized hands without the bottom of the palm of my hand sticking out of the glove. Treated it with NLT (Nokona Leather Treatment) and the color changed to a darker shade immediately, which I like even better. Can't imagine ever being able to wear this glove out.

Cons: Some people would say the leather is too stiff and too hard to break in but I look on that as a sign of the high grade of leather used. I think this glove is being phased out by Nokona so if you want one you probably shouldn't wait.

Pros: An outstanding glove--a bushel basket of a glove. Easy to break in and durable. I didn't even condition the pocket. Just play catch and shape it with an ace bandage and you're good to go. The crunch leather is very durable and breaks in easily. Also, the pics don't do justice to the beauty of this glove.

Cons: None. Do not abuse the glove by baking it, putting it in a dryer, or soaking it. You'll destroy the leather.

Pros: Received glove yesterday afternoon. Applied Nokona conditioner and worked the glove a little last night. Left a ball in the pocket, and love wrapped in a sleeve. Love the look and smell. Glove is heavy and stiff, as advertised out of the box, but should be very durable. Used it at BP this morning, and was pleased with it's performance. Still a little stiff, but definitely game ready for first game use tomorrow.

Cons: Only thing I had problem with was trying to open up the pinkie finger holder. I want to put pinkie and ring finger in there, and had a heck of a time trying to adjust it. Yes, it's stiff, but I fully expected that, and frankly, it's not all that stiff that a little work won't loosen it up.

DOES THIS MODEL COME IN A 13 IN boone
This exact model of the Nokona Walnut Series, the AMG700WCW, does not come in a 13" model, but Nokona does offer a 13 inch glove in the Walnut Series. The model for that is the Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Series: WS1300C (AMG650WCW). Here is a link for that glove. http://www.justballgloves.com/product/nokona-classic-walnut-softball-series--ws1300c--amg650wcw-/1959/

The Nokona Walnut Softball Series: WS1350C is a 13.50" glove. The Nokona Buckaroo Series: BS1300C (AMG650KCW) will be a 13.00" glove.

The Nokona Walnut Softball Series: WS1350c should run true to size. Remember that the glove is measured before the pattern is stitched together, so it will measure shorter when you receive it.

I need the best outfield glove for slow pitch. What do you recommend? BillyO
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1350C) is a very quality quality slow pitch glove. It is a great option for an outfielder. It has a deep pocket and is very durable.
Kara
Does Nokona make yearly models? Is this the correct image of the glove? I've seen many other sites with it having a Velcro strap. Michaels
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1350C) does not feature a Velcro strap. I believe the model you are referring to is the Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1350), which we do not carry. That model features the Velcro strap.
Tessa L.
Is there a cloth (or similar) liner in this glove? How does the two straps for tightening the glove work? Is that just friction? Thanks! echolynch
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1350C) will have a wool liner where you enter your wrist into the glove. The straps can be pulled tighter or more loose depending on the player. They are placed in lace knots near the wrist opening.
Brandon
Is the palm of this well padded? Jim
The Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1350C) would have fairly standard palm padding.
Patrick
Does this glove come pre oiled already? Rudy
I wouldn't necessarily say that the leather on this 2016 Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Series (WS1350C) is going to be pre-oiled, but it will be conditioned by Nokona in their factory so that it is very soft for a customer when they receive it.
Ben
Do they make a throw with your left hand model? Joseph
Nokona has manufactured the Nokona Classic Walnut Softball Glove: WS-1350C in a left handed throwing option, however they are no longer doing so. We will not have any more of those options made available to us.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
