Pros: I bought this glove for my 8 year old son who plays year round leauge and travel ball, it's a perfect fit! He loves it! Breaks in pretty easy, just use it at a few practices.

For a 5 year old player, we would recommend a glove at 9.00 inches. The Nokona Alpha Select 9" Youth Baseball Glove: S-50 would be an excellent option to thus consider for your player. As for the game readiness of the glove, it will likely require some slight break-in.
