Description

Mizuno has once again made it their priority to develop the games most exclusive line of ball gloves. One of those series is the Prospect Series. Mizuno's patented PowerClose technology is unmatched in the industry. Others may try to duplicate, but no technology closes as easily. Multiple technologies like PowerClose, PowerLock, V-Flex, Side Bar, and SureFit Foam, afford the youth player the best options to make catching easy. The V-Flex helps initiate easy closure while the PowerClose makes it easier for younger players to close the glove and catch the ball. The Parashock palm pad with buttersoft and SureFit Foam lining in select Prospect Series models reduce shock to minimize "sting" while delivering superior feel and comfort. Above all, the PowerClose design MAKES CATCHING EASY! Mizuno: Your passion is our obsession. Free Shipping.

Pros: I coach a 9U team and love this glove so much I bought extra for kids who play little league or try out for travel ball with poor gloves. If a child can get his glove on the ball but it pops out often, then the chance is very good it's a bad glove for that child. This glove is ready to use day one! Easy to control and I recommend for our infield and outfield at this age.

Cons: Not enough in stores in the fall. I searched several for this specific glove and in six stores, only found one.

Pros: My 9 year old plays shortstop and we love this glove. It's about 80 % broken in and it's durable. He is 4'6 and 80 pounds.

Pros: Short break in time. Cost.

Cons: After some use, the pinky finger on the glove has started to curl in, half way closing the glove. It makes it difficult to catch with. Webwill be replacing it soon.

Pros: Not a bad little glove. After having bought too big a glove we needed to find the right size for my 9 yo son. 11.5 was just right, 4'8" and plays first. Closes easy and he says fits his hand better. Has more confidence and control with this glove.

Cons: Not much padding but it does make him catch in the pocket instead of the palm. Laces are not leather. We'll use this glove for the rest of the season while he breaks in his thicker better glove over the next few months.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1152 Youth? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What does "youth transitional size" mean for this glove (Mizuno GPP1152)? Also, what is the difference between "Tartan Diagonal Web on the GPL1153 model and the "Tartan Flex Web" on the GPP 1152 model? Tom
The transitional size provides the perfect finger stall and glove sizing for the youth player not quite ready for the full size adult glove. It would be a good choice for a player between 11-13 years old who may have smaller hands.

I purchased the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1152 Youth Glove for my seven year old son about a month ago. This is basically his second year playing baseball not counting a couple of years of teeball. He is going to play 7U coach pitch again this year on a traveling team that typically uses a RIF 5 Baseball. He is fairly tall and lankey for his age. My only question is what age group is this glove typically recommended for? I am wondering if it is a little to big for him at this stage. What model and size would you typically recommend for a 7 to 8 year old? Thanks Chad Foster diesel
Based on recommendations from our 'Glove Coach' resource on the website, a suggested size for an average 8 year old would be 10.50 Inch. If the player is a little bigger than average then you could move up to a 10.75 Inch. If a player is a little smaller than average then you could move down to a 10.00 Inch.
Jeff
Other than the color, how does this model differ from Mizuno GPT1150? Bobber
The GPT1150 has a paraflex palm feature that is supposed to help reduce sting. The GPP1152 does not have this feature.
Jeff
how do you break in this glove? alex
This glove comes game ready and really doesn't require an extensive break-in period. I would still recommend playing catch with it 2 or 3 times before using it in a game. I would also recommend placing a couple of baseball in the pocket of the glove and wrapping it with some rubberbands whenever it is not in use.

I bought the GPP1151, which I assume is a similar model, for my 8 year old son. He is average size and has been playing with a Rawlings PL129BPU for the past six months, which is now literally falling apart in the pocket. Even though the Rawlings is listed at 11", and the Mizuno 11.5", they measure and seem to be identical in size. Is this going to be an appropriate size for my son, or could you recommend a different model glove. Thanks. BretB
Every glove is measured while the leather is laying flat, before the gloves are stitched together. And each glove takes on a different curve as they are stitched, so the measurements will vary. The GPP1152 is a great youth glove, it has the Power Close technology that makes it easier for small hands to squeeze the glove around the ball. Keep in mind, we do offer the 100 day guarantee, so if you chose a glove and he doesn't like it, you just return it.

whats the difference between this and the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPL1153 Youth glove? and does it have a deep pocket mr.baseball
The GPL1153 is a newer version of the GPP1152. The pocket depth will almost be the exact same.

My 8 year old son plays right field. I was looking for a glove for him, and I really like this Power Close...I like the notch to help it close easier, and the exterior thumb pocket. My only concern is the closed webbing. I would prefer it to be open for some visibilty. Is this glove availalble with open webbing, or do you have any other gloves with the features I am looking for? JP's Mom
Unfortunately, Mizuno does not make an 11.5" opened web glove in their Prospect Series. There are no 11.5" youth gloves that have open webs with the notch on the heel to help the glove close easier.
Tyler
Is the exterior thumb pocket on the Power Close also availalble on any other Mizuno gloves (youth or adult), or is it specific to the Power close Series only? JP's Mom
Mizuno's Power Close technology is only available on the Prospect Series and Prospect Fastpitch Series.
Tyler
Is this a infield glove are outfield? momo
That depends on the age of the player. I recommend our glove coach. It's a great tool to help determine glove size: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Tyler
Can you get this glove in a 12" or 12.5" model? My daughter loves it but needs larger glove for the 12" softball . randal
Check out the Mizuno Prospect Fastpitch Series: GPL1258 Youth, which is a 12.5" glove. Also check out the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPL1203 Youth which is a 12" model.
Chad M.
My son is playing with this glove for his second season. The glove has become pretty soft and a bit dried out. Can you recommend anything to stiffen it? Mike D.
Unfortunately, once gloves like the Mizuno Prospect Series (GPP1152) have softened, it is an indication of wear on the leather and there are not really ways to reverse this. If it is dried out, you may be able to use some glove conditioner to refresh the leather but this would not fix any issues with softness.
