Pros: Replaces GFN1102. Great quality, easy to break-in, nice looking, perfect for my 7 yr old. Best bang for your buck in a cow leather glove.

Cons: Had to buy this to replace a lost GFN 1102 Franchise. just a sad deal, but no cons for the glove itself..:)

Pros: 8 year old sons old 10.5 inch was too unforgiving if the ball didn't land right in the pocket, and 11.5 was too big for him to squeeze. This 11 inch pattern is just right, and he catches almost everything now. Fine glove, breaks in fast cause it comes deeply oiled and soft.

Cons: maybe a little too much spring caused by the padding in the palm, but I think it just needs to be broken in more. No big deal in any event.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Franchise Baseball Series: GFN1100B1? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I'm not seeing "Youth" in the name of this glove, but your glove coach recommended this glove for my 10 year old. Is this a youth glove? Deacon
The Mizuno Franchise Series: GFN1100B1 is intended to be a transitional glove. It's great for players around the ages of 10-12 that have outgrown their Youth models, but aren't quite ready for the larger finger stalls and wider wrist opening that an Adult model has.

What is the difference between the Mizuno Franchise Series: GFN1100B1 and Mizuno Franchise Series: GFN1102? Is one just the "newer" model? n/a
The Mizuno Franchise Series: GFN1100B1 is the newer model. It features new parashock palm padding. The GFN1102 has been discontinued.
Kara
I am looking for a new good quality glove that is under $100 for my average size 10 year old son. He plays mostly short stop and 2nd base, but also some outfield. Would this be a good choice for him? Does it need breaking in? Any other recommendations? bbdad
The Mizuno Franchise Series: GFN1100B1 would be a good choice based on his age and position. It will come game ready and will require little to no break-in. Any other glove around the same price will be of the same quality. The 11'' would be a good size for him.
Tori
Would this model be good for an 8 year old that plays some outfield, mostly third base, and pitches? beastmode35
The Mizuno Franchise Series (GFN1100B1) is a great glove for an 8 year old utility player.
Jason
My son currently uses an 11" Prospect, we want to upgrade to a better glove. Should I stay with the same size, meaning will this glove fit the same as his current glove, or would you recommend a different size? Thanks. Frank
The sizing on the Mizuno Franchise Series: GFN1100B1 would depend on position and age. If he hasn't grown out of the other Prospect glove you could use an 11" again or possibly move up to an 11.50".
Brandon
My son is 5'5" tall and has smaller hands. Is an 11" glove the right size for him? marshall
If your player is 12 years or younger and is playing a middle infield position, I think an 11.00" model like this Mizuno Franchise Baseball Series (GFN1100B1) could be an excellent option of glove for him. However, if he is older than 12 and playing on the infield, I would recommend looking at a glove with more of an 11.25" to 11.50" length on it.
Ben
Would this be a good choice for a 7U travel ball player? I'm looking at this glove and a Mizuno Prospect. Colby
Our general recommendation for a 7 year old player is a 10" glove. However, an 11" size like the Mizuno Franchise Baseball Series: GFN1100B1 is also suitable if your player is comfortable using a larger glove. This glove has very soft leather which permits for a quick break-in period. The Mizuno Prospect Series is very similar in quality and construction. They both feature a palm pad that allows for extra protection. The Mizuno Prospect Series is a youth fit so it has tighter finger stalls and a smaller hand opening for a more snug fit on a younger player's hand. The Mizuno Franchise Baseball Series: GFN1100B1 is an adult glove so it's likely that it will be too large in the hand opening for your player.
