Description

Partnering with global footwear company ECCO, Wilson is taking glove innovation to the next level with the Pro Yak Series. Made from the skin of Himalayan Yak, ECCO and Wilson discovered that yak leather has extraordinary strength and durability. This strength has been one of the best-kept secrets in the industry, until now. In fact, due to the rugged and rough terrain that yak live in, this leather is up to 3x stronger than cowhide! This allows Wilson to skive the hide thinner, providing players with a much lighter and more manageable glove. It also makes for a quicker break-in and a soft, game-ready feel right off the shelf... without sacrificing any durability! With 2x Palm Construction, the Pro Yak Series features a thin strategically cut piece of leather between the palm liner and outer shell, providing maximum padding and pocket stability. A lower profile heel makes the glove more flexible and opens up the palm and pocket to make the glove more forgiving on bad-hop grounders. These Pro Stock patterns are exclusively hand designed by the Wilson Advisory Staff to make sure these gloves have top of the line quality. Wilson: Official Ball Glove of Major League Baseball! Pros: This was a big upgrade for me because i have never had an over $100 glove before and let me just say that this is a really good glove. It has been 2 months and i still feel no sting at all when catching it in the palm. It is really comfortable too. The break in time took only 5 days using shaving cream and i havent dropped a fly ball in the game with it yet.

Cons: Yak?

Pros: It's my first wilson glove and the highest quality glove I've gotten. I'm very impressed. It broke in quickly so I wonder how durable it will be. For now though it has been like a dream come true.

Cons: A little bit heavy.

What country is this particular model made? SFG 55
This model is made in China.
Kara
Which glove has the better quality, computability, and worth the price: This model or the Wilson A2000 listed at $199.99? Franny
The Yak series is going to be one of the highest quality of leather that Wilson makes. I would give the edge to the Pro Soft Yak series.
K.B.
will this glove last a few seasons or is it a one year and replace glove due to the softness of the yak leather? jh01
This will be a very durable glove and will last longer than one year. This glove should last 3-5 seasons.
KG
Could a 12 year old outfielder use this glove? Ammall
This is a good outfied glove. However, I believe the size is probably too small for a 12 year old.
K.B.
what age group would you recommend this glove for 007
This glove is designed for use between 13 yr olds and up. It will depend on the player and their hand size.
KG
For a right fielder, what would be better?a1000 or yak. And for second base, what would be better, the a1000 11.5 inches or the yak 11.5 inches? lags002
The Yak series is going to be a higher quality leather, more durable and it is going to be softer than the A1000 series. An 11.50 is going to be better playing infield. I would go up a 1/2 inch for outfield play.
K.B.
Is there a lack of padding in the palm due to the thin leather? bbsuperstar
Not at all. The BBKP92 features a reinforced palm for added padding and protection.
Tyler
Would this be to small for a 16 yr old or should I go up to a 12.75? Team player
That's your call. A 12.5 inch glove is the most common size for a High School aged outfielder. A 12.75 inch glove will be just as serviceable in my opinion.
Tyler
Would you recommend the Pro Yak Series or the A2000? Is there much of a size difference between the 12.5 and .75? Also, would the glove size fit tight on a 16 yr old's hand? Team player
The Pro Yak and A2000 gloves are both high quality models. The Yak will be a little softer than the A2000. If you prefer a stiffer glove, go with the A2000. If you prefer a softer glove, go with the Yak. There is a .25 inch difference between a 12.5 and 12.75 inch model. It will be noticeable. These gloves should fit very comfortably.
Tyler
Will this glove fit a guy that just got back from afghanistan, or would you prefer he go with an a2000? supersoftslugger
Yes, this glove is going to work for anyone. 12.50 inch gloves are what most outfielders use.
Carter
Do you need glove oil for this glove? Good Sport
The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series BBKP92 is a glove that will require very little if any glove conditioning or oiling. The leather used in the BBKP92 is very soft and will be essentially game ready.

i am a 14 year old infielder playing as a freshman for my highschool. i had a 12.00 inch liberty worth glove and it was getting too small i play infield and was wondering if this was a glove more for outfielders or infielders. And if it is an outfielders glove if a shoeless joe 12.50 glove was made more for infielders? EJ
All 12.5" gloves are more common for outfielders. You can use a 12.5" glove in the infield if you prefer a larger than average glove. The average size glove for a High School infielder is 11.25" to 11.75".
Tyler
Looking for a new glove for softball . Would this be a good glove for infield & outfield ? Al
The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series is a baseball glove. We recommend a slow pitch glove like the Wilson Game Ready Softfit Series: A0800SP13.
Kara
I am a senior woman competitive, traveling tournament team softball player. Some problems with thumb so breaking in a new glove it tough for me. I play about 100 games a year. I need a new glove. Like a deep pocket and I play outfield. hayhook
The Wilson Pro Yak Series is a baseball glove. We recommend the Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series: FP125 Fastpitch which is designed for female hands. It will have a quick break-in period and will be very durable.
Kara
When you oil it does it change color? Dale
If you apply a thin layer of oil with each application then the color of the leather should not be effected. After a couple of years and a number of applications the leather might become slightly darker.
Tom
How do you care for the yak glove ? I bought one and it came with no instructions. John
I recommend our Glove Resource Guide. It has a lot of useful information: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-resource-guide/
Tyler
I know a lot of pros wear the A2000 and A2K models, do any wear the Yak series? TJ
From our knowledge, there aren't any pros that wear a Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series glove.
Tom
What's the weight of the 12.5 Yak and the 12.5 A2000 and 12.5 A1000 SS. Looking for the lightest weight glove for my son. W3
The A1000 Super Skin Series will weigh about a half ounce to one ounce lighter than the Yak Series. Exact weights are not measured for nor released by the manufacturer unfortunately.
Tyler
What would you recomend a2000 or yak? basebat
The Wilson A2000 blem has a small oil mark in the palm of the glove. That is why the price is reduced. There is nothing wrong with the performance or integrity of the glove. The A2000 gloves are made from American Pro Stock Steer hide that is hand selected for its rugged durability. A2000 series gloves also offer the new Dri-Lex technology. This Dri-Lex technology is an ultra-breathable wrist lining that transfers moisture away from the skin, keeping your hand cool and dry. The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series will be a softer leather that will provide a smoother, quicker break in process. It's made from the skin of Himalayan Yak, ECCO and Wilson discovered that yak leather has extraordinary strength and durability. Both gloves will be great choices. The difference will be the break in period.
Brandon
Is this a baseball or softball glove? Matthew
The Wilson Pro Soft Yak Series: BBKP92 is designed with baseball in mind, but it can be used in softball as well.
