Description

Breaking in a glove isn't the rite of passage it once was. Some folks still like to spend hours a day for weeks molding their glove just right, yet others would rather take their new glove right to the field. If you're a fan of the already broken-in feel, the new Wilson Game Ready Softfit series is the glove for you. These gloves feature Wilson's Ecco Leather which is game ready and engineered to specifically provide softness on the first day of ownership and keep its durability for years to come. Players are not sacrificing protection with a game ready glove though. The Softfit series is made with 2x Palm Construction which places a thin piece of leather between the palm liner and outer shell. This creates ideal pocket stability and maximum protection for your hand. These gloves also have a lower profile heel to make the glove even more flexible. When Wilson was trying to come up with a name for this series, they figured they'd just tell the customer what the glove is: Game Ready. Soft. And It Fits. Enjoy. Wilson: More Win! Free Shipping!

Pros: Smaller cut inside the glove to fit smaller hands. Velcro closure strap to provide a tighter fit. Very soft feel inside and very well broken in for the younger player with weaker hands.

Cons: none

Pros: First, I want to thank justballgloves.com for getting me the glove for my son so quick. Ordered on Sunday and it arrived by Tuesday via UPS. My son is a lefty and has been working really hard on his defense, so I bought him this mitt. He couldn't wait to use it so we took it to the practice facility tonight. He and the glove performed awesomely. I am sure it will last him for at least the next 4 - 5 years once he out grows it. It is a nice thick cowhide leather and constructed really well so I doubt we will have any issues.

Cons: The hand compartment is huge. I wear a men's size large batting glove and have no problem putting my hand in it. My son is a taller than average 9 year old and it is big for him. All that being said we are very happy with the purchase.

Pros: Great glove. Purchased the 11.5 glove for my 7 year old. It's a little big for him but he's a small 7 year old. Even though it's game ready he had a little trouble closing the glove. It took a little while for him to get comfortable with the glove but now he loves it. Looks like it will last a few seasons.

Cons: None

Is good for a six years old kid?? Angel
The WIlson Game Ready Softfit Series: A0800BBYTHBM is an 11.5" youth first base mitt that is great for players 9 years old and younger. It may fit an 8 or 9 year old better, but it's definitely something a 6 year old can use and grow in to.
Tyler
Will a 11.50" size last more than 1 year for a 9 year old? jalport
If you want a first base mitt that will last your 9 year old more than one year, I would recommend at least a 12" model as it's a larger size and will provide a little more room to grow in to.
Tyler
My daughter plays first base on an eight year old travel softball team. Until now, we have not considered a first base glove. Would this 11.5 first base glove work with an 11" softball? Also, what are your thoughts on the 12" ball because we are considering moving her up to fill in with on a team with the older girls. She is eight years old and has an 11" Vinci which is getting too small. Steve
For an 8 year old fastpitch softball player at firstbase, I would recommend stepping up to a 12" model. A 12" mitt will have a slightly larger pocket and will be better suited for an 11" or 12" softball. Something like the Wilson Game Ready Softfit Series: A0800BB2800 would be a good option.

I have an athletic, eight and a half year old grandson that is a solid first baseman for his age group. I want to upgrade his mitt but I am uncertain on the size and style opportunities. What advice might you have? Forever
For an eight and a half year old first baseman, using Glove Coach on our website, it is recommended that he use the 11.5" model of the Wilson Game Ready Softfit Series: A0800BBYTHBM Youth First Base Mitt.

My 7 year old is currently using an 11.5" Nike glove. He plays first base and is ready for an actual first base mitt. I am trying to determine what size to get him. Is an 11.5" first base mitt any bigger then a 11.5" regular baseball glove? Ryan
A youth first base mitt for the 7 year old player should be 11.50" to 12" in size. It will feel similar to the 11.50" glove he is currently using. The Wilson Game Ready Softfit Series: A0800BBYTHBM Youth First Base Mitt would be the glove that I would recommend for him.

My son has an 11.5" Akadema 1B mitt. It is about 3 years old and pretty worn. He is 11 but small for his age... 4' 8" and 70 lbs. All the docs I see say he should go up to a 12" but I am worried about the hand compartment being too big with a larger glove. What do you suggest? Wayne
A 12" youth glove will fit the exact same as an 11.5" youth model. Hand/finger area will not be different.
Tyler
My son is 8 1/2 and plays both select and little league baseball. He plays third, first and catcher and uses a fielders Mizuno fielders glove 11.5". He needs a first basemen's mitt. Is this the best option for him and should he go with the recommended 11.5" or go up in size to the 12"? Also, with this glove being "game ready" will it be too soft after so much use? K
If you want a mitt he can use for longer than one, maybe two seasons, then a 12" model with better durability would be recommended. If you're fine with a mitt that will last him this season and maybe next season, the Wilson Game Ready Softfit Series: A0800BBYTHBM would be a great option. It designed for a youth ball player and even though it's game ready, it should definitely last 1-2 years, while holding it's shape well.
