Pros: Sold my old Nokona I bought back in the 90' on e-bay for $150 and bought this new one. Love the way it feels and looks that kills. Nokona is the best...all the others are imported junk.

Cons: Hard and stiff at first but when broken in it fits like it was custom made.

Pros: Made in USA, Long lasting feel does not turn into a dish rag after extremely large amount of use. Looks unique you won't mistake it for another glove. The price helps you to not forget it at the field. The weight of it screams quality and I assure you after lengthy break in U W LUV

Cons: Lengthy break in but well worth it.

Pros: Great leather quality. After about a week of practice it was broken in. When it isn't being used, the leather naturally stiffens up, resulting in the glove not getting too floppy. Has a great feel to it.

Cons: kind of a "tweener" glove. On the bigger side for an infielder's glove, but too small for an outfielder's glove.

Pros: Great glove, this was our 1st Nokona. MADE in USA is the reason we purchased this glove. Trust me is is a great American product. Very very well made!

Cons: A little stiffer than what we thought it would be, but that just gives you a chance to throw more and break it in.

Pros: Just got my glove today and all I can say is wow! This is the best glove I've ever had on my hand. You can feel the top quality of the leather instantly. This blows all that Chinese stuff away. The glove is brand new and needs a lot of breaking in, yet it already pulls the ball into the pocket like a magnet. Worth every penny. As far as the 12" size, I'm very pleased, good all around size.

Cons: Not enough choices for lefties. The infield wasn't set up for lefties but we still like to have some more choices.

Pros: Like always, Nokonas like this one are made with great feeling leather. Although a quick break-in can mean poor leather quality, that is not the case with Nokona's CW series. These are just fantastic ball gloves. I'll never buy anything but Nokona ever again.

Cons: If you're one of those weirdos that likes rock-hard gloves (and I know you're out there), I'd stay away from the CWs and go with a different Nokona leather choice.

Pros: I've had mine for about two months now. Wow! This is so much better quality than the wilsons and rawlings I have had before. This will be my 8 year old grandson's glove when he is big enough for it-and with the qualityof the leather could be his son's also some day.

Cons: I didn't have anyone to play catch with for a while-broke in just fine with mallet and wrapping it.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C (AMG1200WCW)? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

what positions can you play with this glove? Q
Based on the size of this glove it could be used both in the infield and outfield as well as on the pitchers mound. A 12 inch is a good all around size.
Mark
is this glove an infielders type glove? moony
Based on the overall size and pocket structure, this particular model could certainly work very well for corner or middle infield play. This would be an ideal glove I would personally recommend for such positions.
Jeff
Is this glove true to measurement? It seems as though I see a lot of your gloves described as fits small. Is it big enough for softball infield? Bryan
All Nokona gloves are handmade which is why sometimes they run just a little smaller than advertised. This one in particular will be pretty true to size. It will fit like a 12 inch glove, but it may measure just a little smaller. I'd almost recommend at least a 12.5 inch glove for infield in softball. Any 12 inch glove would be a tad too small in my opinion.
JH
Would this glove be recommended for HS ball? particularly 3rd base? dubs
I would not recommend this glove for a third baseman. I would recommend a smaller glove, 11.00-11.50. Most 12.00-12.50 inch gloves are for the outfield.
Brett
would this glove be perfect for a baseball pitcher? What glove does nokona make that would be the ideal glove for a BASEBALL pitcher. max
Any glove that they have between 11.00-11.75 would work great for a pitcher. That is the range that most infield gloves fall under.
Brett
I have a large hand. Does that play a role in what size glove you should choose? Also, what size would you recommend for outfield, slow pitch softball? Mark
For a softball outfielder I would recommend a 13.00-14.00 inch glove. A 12.00 inch glove is going to be too small for the outfield. You are going to be wanting to look for a glove that is built for softball, not baseball.
Brett
Is this glove stiff ? Cam
The Walnut Series from Nokona will be moderately stiff. They won't be as stiff as Nokona's Bloodline Series, but will be stiffer than their Kangroo or Buffalo leather gloves. It will take a good 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to break in.
Brett
I'm looking to pass to my son in a few years. He has not settled on a position yet. Will 12 inch be usable for infield and outfield in high school? RD
A 12.00 inch glove will be more geared towards someone that plays in the outfield. Most infielders use an 11.00-11.50 inch glove. Most outfielders use 12.00-12.50 inch gloves.
Todd
What about fastpitch and playing the middle ( SS or 2nd ) ? Doc
This particular glove could be broken in for fastpitch softball, the pocket is big enough. And would be about the right size. Only real difference in baseball and softball gloves is fastpitch gloves have smaller finger slots.
Linda
Is this a utility(mostly outfield) glove? I'm 13 and 5 3" Baseball
Yes. This would be a great utility glove.
K.B.
Would this be a good glove for both infield and outfield play? I'm a utility player and usually play many positions all season. Eli
Yes, this would be a good sizing for a utility player.
Tom
Does this glove come in a 11.50 inch? keeblerg
The closest option in a 11.5 inch model is the WB1150M.
Tyler
The Nokona folks referred me to you. Here's the question: I love the look of this glove, and particularly prefer the back, classic look. I play short and second - slow pitch - but would think this 12" would be just fine, similar in size to my current mitt, a Wilson A750. Do you think there'd be any problem using this for softball? Jimmy
Most of the infielders I've played with and against in slow pitch softball use a 12.5" to 13" glove. I've known a few who have used a 12" glove, but they were very experienced infielders and were very comfortable using a smaller than average glove. If you are comfortable with a 12" glove in the infield for slow pitch, then the Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C would be a great choice.
Tyler
Is this the 2013 model glove made with the HHH Leather? K Dub
Unfortunately, the Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) is not made with Nokona's HHH leather.
Tyler
What size and model do you recommend for an average sized, 11 year old outfielder? CJ
I would recommend going with a 12" glove for an 11 year old outfielder. The Nokona Classic Walnut Series WB1200C would be a great choice.
Justin R.
Will you guys carry the 2013 model since Nokona changed this to HHH Walnut leather? Jeff
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C is the newest model we sell at this time. As of today, it has not been discontinued by Nokona.
Kara
I am a 15 year old who needs a good glove for pitching and occasionally third base. My hands are bigger than most adult's hands, so I was just wondering of this would be a good enough size for me. Bronson
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C is perfect for a pitcher or infielder. With your age given we suggest a 12 inch glove, which is what this model is. Keep in mind that the Nokona gloves tend to run a little smaller than others.
Chad M.
How long will this take to break in? I'm supposed to get it tomorrow. I'm super excited to get it :D. I don't really mind my glove right now, it is super flimsy and I want a tougher one. Flighttz
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) will take a couple of weeks to break-in if it is properly broken-in.
Kara
Need a Nokona softball glove, 12.00" Redd
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C is the only 12.00" slow pitch softball glove we have available. It is an excellent glove that uses top of the line leather and will be very durable.
Kara
I am playing 12 U and wondering if this would be a good glove to use for pitching and center field? Beast
Yes, the Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) would be a perfect utility glove. It will be 12" in size which would suit you well for outfield use.
Brandon
I'm 14 playing high school baseball. Would this glove be good for pitching? JC
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C is best suited for a utility player. We recommend the Nokona Walnut Series: WB1175H.
Kara
Will this glove be a good size for a 13 yr old playing both infield and outfield? at
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C is the perfect size for a thirteen year old utility player.
Kara
My son is 10 Years old and wants a glove that will last him several years 11,12,13 and he plays various positions. Is the AMG1200WCW the right glove for him? tim
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) is a 12" model and is slightly big for him right now. Based on his age, we recommend an 11.50" model. However, the WB1200C is a great model for him to grow into by the time he is 12.
Jason
Are you able to tell me the major differences between the Walnut Series and the Pro-Lines? Since we are currently in 2014 do these gloves now have the Walnut HHH Leather as mentioned on the Nokona website? CoachSmitty
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C features HHH leather. The HHH leather is stiffer and a little heavier compared to the Pro-Line gloves which feature sandstone leather. Both will be very durable once they are broken-in.
Kara
Would this glove be a good glove for playing outfield and pitcher in high school ball. Curious
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) would be a fine size for a pitcher in high school at 12". The glove may be slightly small for an outfielder though. I see more high school outfielder's using a 12.50"-12.75". The overall quality of the Nokona Classic Walnut Series would be exceptional for a high school player.
Brandon
I'm a college left fielder that occasionally plays 2nd base. I would like to have two gloves but I can't afford two quality gloves. Would this work until I could get another glove? cwyre
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB1200C) (AMG1200WCW) would be a good utility option that would be serviceable at both positions. It would be a bit short for an outfielder and a bit long for second base but would still work for both.
Patrick
Looking for a glove for slow pitch softball. I will be playing infield. I prefer the open back of a baseball glove. Is this my best option in a Nokona? Matt
The 12 inch size of the Nokona Classic Walnut Series WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) would be a bit small but should still be serviceable as an infield glove for slow pitch. For an open back design this would be the best option from Nokona for what you are looking for.
Patrick
Is this a good glove for a 13 year old third baseman? I just moved to the big field. bob
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) is a 12" pattern, which may be a little large for you. Based on your age and position, we recommend an 11.50" pattern.
Tessa
I am looking for a glove to take me through high school as a pitcher. Would this be a good glove for me? Nolan
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1200C (AMG1200WCW) would be a great option for the pitching position. It is tough to say how long any glove will last. However, with proper glove care, this model could last a couple seasons.
Tessa

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
