Louisville Slugger was the pioneer of the exclusive female fitting glove. The Valkyrie series of fastpitch gloves has become as staple on softball fields around the world. Not only do these gloves have a comfortable fit, but there isn't a better value out there as far as softball gloves go. The Valkyrie series gloves are made from premium grade, oil-treated steer hide leather for a soft feel and long-lasting shape. The female fit pioneered by Louisville Slugger means narrower finger stalls and smaller wrist openings for a snug fit and better control. Inside, full grain leather linings help the glove keep its shape and give players a phenomenal feeling. These gloves also feature Bruise-Gard Padding to give the player extra protection from hard hit or thrown balls. The Valkyrie series gloves have dye-through lacing to provide extra durability so that they can withstand even the most grueling softball season. This 13.00 inch model features a closed back and triple-x closed web for excellent control in the field. Louisville Slugger: Performance Products for Championship Performances! Free Shipping!

Pros: Fairly easy break in. 15 yr old daughter loves the big pocket and extra bruise guard padding for her outfield play. High quality glove for the money. Can't go wrong with this one.
Cons: None that we can find.

Thanks for you info concerning the TPS Zephyr for my 14 yr old starting JV high school ball. You mentioned durability, would this model TPS Valkyrie 1300 be a step up in that dept. I was also considering the Akadema ACE 70 13in. Your opinion would be very helpful. Thanks!
Jeff
This is a very good glove. This glove uses really great leather in the full grain leather and premium steerhide. This glove also has great durability with the way the glove is put together.

An Overall question in general:
I am just a father who wants to throw ball with my children. I have a large hand and the bottom of my left palm is exposed. I broke my wrist as a kid, and I want my hand covered like the gloves did when I was a boy. Tonight, I visited three stores in the Pittsburgh area, Kmart, Dunhams and Dicks and with all the selection nothing could coiver the palm completly. What do you suggest? Please keep in mind that I did get my hand up all the way in with no luck. I want to stay under a hundred if not even less since I am only throwing with my kids. Also, how by being on line would I know if it can fit?
Thanks for your help.

With almost every glove (even 13 inch models) a little portion of your palm will show. I have average size hands for an adult male and I've tried on most of the 13 inch gloves we carry and with all of them (as far as I can remember) a portion of my palm was exposed. If I were you, I would look at a 14 or 15 inch model. A few recommendations are the Rawlings PP140R, Mizuno GSP1403, Easton NE14, Wilson A0700 SP14BST, or Louisville HS1502. As far as knowing whether it will fit or not, that's hard to guarantee, which is why we offer a 100-day no questions asked return policy on all our gloves. A free return label will be included with your order that you can use to send the glove back to us if it doesn't fit or meet your criteria.

My daughter is going to be playing first base on her High School team, what would be a good first base glove for her?
dad
The Louisville Slugger TPS Valkyrie Fastpitch Series: VK1300 would be an excellent first base glove for your daughter. It is easy to break in and will be durable as well.
Kara
My daughter is entering into her first year of high school ball and will be the starting SS or 3B. What would be a good glove size for her? She is now using a 14 in and I think it is too big.
Ed
We recommend a 11.75" for her age and positions. The Louisville Slugger TPS Valkyrie Fastpitch Series: VK1175 would be a great choice for her.
Kara
Do you have this glove for a right handed thrower?
Connie
Unfortunately we are currently sold out of the Louisville Slugger TPS Valkyrie Fastpitch Series (VK1300) in the right handed thrower. We usually reorder gloves every two to three weeks.
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
