Description

Since its introduction in 1957, the original Wilson A2000 Series has set the standard for premium quality ball gloves. Developed together with engineers, craftsmen and Major League players, the A2000 Series is the ultimate defensive tool. Used on MLB fields since 1998, the A2000 SuperSkin models were developed to be as lightweight as possible, without sacrificing performance or durability. SuperSkin repels moisture and reduces the overall weight of the glove while still being 2x stronger than conventional leather. The SuperSkin models strategically place American Pro Stock leather at certain points to give it even more rugged durability. This durability is enhanced even further with Dual-Welting pre-curved finger design that helps the pocket keep its shape and stay stable. This 12.25 Inch first base model features a Single Post Web and is ideal for first basemen looking for a mitt with the lightest possible play weight. Put millions of hours of passion for excellence in the palm of your hand with a Wilson A2000 SuperSkin glove! Wilson: The Official Glove of Major League Baseball. Free Shipping!

Pros: Quite a bit lighter than her regular 2000 all leather Osterman while still maintaining the same leather quality on the palm side. Also has the same palm/finger curvature as in the 2000 12 1/2" glove. My daughter loves it and it is her first choice for practice even when she is pitching. She is a tall 14u and it fits her hand very well. Don't think it is going to get "floppy" compared to many others.

Cons: None yet. Don't expect any either.

Pros: My daughter (14U) has never had a first basemen glove. After 5 minutes of catch, she absolutely loves it. This glove breaks in fairly fast and is usable after one night of treatment. Being 13 years old, she can handle this glove well, while some of the other first basemen gloves (13") seemed huge compared to this one. But the glove is definitely not too small, it fits a 12" softball just fine in a well-designed web. This is her favorite glove so far, and I bet that she uses it at both first base and in the outfield.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS Fastpitch First Base Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this glove have a nice deep pocket? Patti
It has a nice pocket that once broken in around a softball, is a great deep pocket.
Linda
Is there a difference between a softball first base mitt verse a baseball first base mitt that are equal size, 12.5"? Renee
The pockets are different on softball specific gloves. They are bigger to accomodate the bigger softball. The 12.5" is actually the same per baseball and softball, as the glove is measured while the leather is laying flat, before the gloves are stitched together.
Linda
My duaghter is a taller 13 year old girl playing at first base in fastpitch softball. I was looking for a nice mitt for her and seem to be coming back to a few brands: Wilson A2000 FPB11SS, Worth LFPXFB, Louisville Slugger Catalyst, and the Akadema. I even saw the Vinci mitt, but I am not sure that is a softball glove. Have you seen or felt these gloves, and if so, any suggestions on which is better? (I was a little concerned about the A2000 smaller size, but maybe that's not such a bad thing). Price is not a major issue. Brad
Wow, good options in gloves. The A2000 will have a more stiff feeling at first but with some breaking in will be a great glove. These gloves are high end choices and will last her many of seasons. We do allow you to order as many gloves as you like and return them within 100 days. She can oil all of them, use them and pick the one she likes best.

Is this left handed? meghan
As of right now we have this glove available in a right and left handed thrower. The sizes listed on our website are the ones we have here and ready to ship in the warehouse.
Jennifer
hello, i have a 10 yo little girl who plays first and pitcher in travel and rec ball. she is very tall at 5'7" and has long fingers. is this the right glove or should i get a bigger one? Mac
Actually, a 12.25 inch first base mitt should be perfect for your daughter. A 12.25 inch first base mitt is a common size for girls around 12 or 13 years old. Since she is above in height and hand size, I think this size would fit her great
Tyler
Can this mitt be used by a big handed male?? or its just for female?? Batileo
This glove can be used by a male or female. However, since it is a fast pitch glove, it will be more tailored to fit a female hand.
Jennifer
This Mitt works for adults or just for kids and female?? Leo
This mitt can really work for anyone that wants to use it. Since it is a fastpitch mitt, it will be more designed for female hands though.
Jennifer
I have a 14 year old who plays first base she is 5 foot 10. Is this a good size glove for her or should i look for a bigger one? I am looking for one that will last awhile. sharebear
The average size first base mitt for a 14 year old playing fastpitch softball is 12.5 inches. Especially if she's a little taller than average, I would recommend at least a 12.5 inch model.
Tyler
Can you use this Mitt for baseball? What is the different between the fast pitch mitt and the baseball mitt? I just play recreationally. Nicholas
The web used in the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS Fastpitch First Base Mitt would not work well for baseball because the cross web design used in this glove has too much space between the leather posts in the web that could lead to a baseball being stuck in the web.
Tom
My daughter is 15yr and plays travel ball and needs a 1st base mitt , what do you recommend? Torie
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series would be a great fit for your daughter. It is very durable and easy to break-in.
Kara
Addendum to my previous question-Kara do you think this series is too small for her hand, for she uses a 12.50 A2000 ? Torie
We recommend a 12.50" to a 12.75" for her age. If she is not comfortable in the 12.50" , a 12.75" glove might be better for her.Keep in mind we do have a 100 day guarantee on our gloves. If you are not completely satisfied you many return the glove within 100 days for a full refund or exchange, even if the glove has been used.
Kara
My daughter is 10 and plays 10u travel ball. She is 4 ft 7 and 80 pounds and built pretty strong. Will this glove be too big for her ? if so, what glove do you recommend ? BomberCoach
A 12.25" first base mitt is actually a great size for a 10 year old. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS would be a great option for your daughter.
Tyler
I have seen on other forums talk about a Wilson A2800 Fastpitch First Base Mitt but do not see it offered on your site. Is there such a mitt or are they confusion this with the A2000? Thanks TSR
We carried the Wilson A2000 Series: A2800 FPB Fastpitch First Base at one time. The item has been discontinued. The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series uses top of the line leather for great durability.
Kara
Hello, Do you think this glove is large enough for a 15yr old girl playing first base at representative level softball? Also, what is the next 1st base glove up from this please? sue
A 12.25" mitt like the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS is better suited for a player around 13 or 14 years old. A 12.5" mitt is most common for a 15 year old fastpitch softball first baseman. I'm not sure if by "next glove up" you mean in size or quality. If size... The nest size up would be 12.5". If quality... there is no other 12.25" mitt that is better in terms of quality.
Tyler
My grandaughter is 5' 10 1/2" and 16 yrs old. What model fast pitch first base glove does Wilson offer in a 12.5" mitt?? gramps
Unfortunately, we do not have any 12.5" Wilson first base mitts for fastpitch softball.
Tyler
My daughter is playing 18U. She needs a new 1st base mitt. She pitches most of the time so this is a backup mitt for her. She loves her Wilson A2000. We need a new one of those also. Any suggestions? Michele
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS is a great choice for a First Base Mitt. The Wilson A2000 Cat Osterman Series: A2000 ZCATB or the Wilson A2K Fastpitch Series: A2K0FP3INF would be great fielder's gloves.
Kara
My daughter plays D2 softball in college. She pitch's, catch's (Nakona), and has been playing a lot of 1st base. She has a Wilson fielder's glove that she loves. Would the A2000 Wilson 1st base glove be large enough for a college player 5' 9"? We are also considering an Akadema. What's your opinion? RandyM
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS Fastpitch First Base Mitt is an awesome mitt. For her age a 12.75" mitt is recommended. If she likes the fit a little smaller this glove would be perfect. If not, try this model also: Shoeless Joe Shoeless Jane Fastpitch Series: 1250FPFB
Brandon
I am having trouble finding a first baseman glove for my 8 year old daughter. Would this glove be too large? Currently, she has an 11.5" glove (not first baseman glove) and she handles it well. I think she is at the age that she needs one specific to this position. hg
At 12.25", the Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS Fastpitch First Base Mitt is an adult glove and will be too large for an eight year old.
Kevin
I am a grown man that has large hands and plays competitive men's league slow pitch softball at first base. Can you recommend the perfect glove for me? Thanks. orion
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS Fastpitch First Base Mitt is a fastpitch glove, designed for a female hand. We recommend a slow pitch glove for you. Here is a link for all of our first base slow pitch gloves: http://www.justballgloves.com/products/glove%20type~slow%20pitch%20softball/sub%20type~first%20base/.
Kara
Would this glove be adequate for a 9 yr old? Would it be to big for her hand? Phil
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS Fastpitch First Base Mitt is an adult glove and would be too large for a 9 year old.
Kara
Does this come in a right hand thrower glove? Tigger
The Wilson A2000 SuperSkin Series: FPB11SS Fastpitch First Base Mitt is a discontinued model and the left handed thrower is all we have in stock.
