Pros: Quite a bit lighter than her regular 2000 all leather Osterman while still maintaining the same leather quality on the palm side. Also has the same palm/finger curvature as in the 2000 12 1/2" glove. My daughter loves it and it is her first choice for practice even when she is pitching. She is a tall 14u and it fits her hand very well. Don't think it is going to get "floppy" compared to many others.
Cons: None yet. Don't expect any either.

Pros: My daughter (14U) has never had a first basemen glove. After 5 minutes of catch, she absolutely loves it. This glove breaks in fairly fast and is usable after one night of treatment. Being 13 years old, she can handle this glove well, while some of the other first basemen gloves (13") seemed huge compared to this one. But the glove is definitely not too small, it fits a 12" softball just fine in a well-designed web. This is her favorite glove so far, and I bet that she uses it at both first base and in the outfield.

Does this glove have a nice deep pocket? Patti
Is there a difference between a softball first base mitt verse a baseball first base mitt that are equal size, 12.5"? Renee
My duaghter is a taller 13 year old girl playing at first base in fastpitch softball. I was looking for a nice mitt for her and seem to be coming back to a few brands: Wilson A2000 FPB11SS, Worth LFPXFB, Louisville Slugger Catalyst, and the Akadema. I even saw the Vinci mitt, but I am not sure that is a softball glove. Have you seen or felt these gloves, and if so, any suggestions on which is better? (I was a little concerned about the A2000 smaller size, but maybe that's not such a bad thing). Price is not a major issue. Brad

My daughter plays D2 softball in college. She pitch's, catch's (Nakona), and has been playing a lot of 1st base. She has a Wilson fielder's glove that she loves. Would the A2000 Wilson 1st base glove be large enough for a college player 5' 9"? We are also considering an Akadema. What's your opinion? RandyM
I am having trouble finding a first baseman glove for my 8 year old daughter. Would this glove be too large? Currently, she has an 11.5" glove (not first baseman glove) and she handles it well. I think she is at the age that she needs one specific to this position. hg

About the Brand
A true American icon in the world of sports equipment. This Chicago-based manufacturer of quality gloves began in 1913 as Ashland Manufacturing, which was a subsidiary of the Wilson & Co. meat company. At one point, the enterprise became known as the Thomas E. Wilson Co., taking the name of an early chief executive. In 1931, the name was changed to Wilson Sporting Goods Co.
Wilson makes a variety of baseball gloves and equipment for several different positions, uncluding bats and batting gloves. They are best known for models that include the A2K and A2000, as well as custom gloves. Players such as Clayton Kershaw and Miguel Cabrera have sported Wilson baseball gloves.
