Pros: This is a great glove if you want to take your youth player's equipment up a level but don't want to spend the money for the A2000 or A2K gloves. Breaks in relatively quickly but it has the great structure that you would expect from a good Wilson glove. My son is 9 and this fits great. Small wrist opening and finger stalls give this glove a nice snug feel. A little glove oil and some time playing catch and you are ready to go.

Cons: None yet.

Not Just a Youth Glove Matt Ingram player

Pros: I really do enjoy this glove. I had a Nike N1 Elite before this, and the leather is comparable. The N1 Elite was considerably heavier, but I would not necessarilly say that the N1 Elite was higher quality. It took me about a week to get this glove to a point in which I was comfortable playing with it. I would compare it to a Louisville Pro Flare as far as leather feel. It has definitely held its shape and has maintained a great playing stiffness. Also, it is a really fun glove to play with. Balls never pop out of this glove; it holds everything well. It is very light weight, and never moves much on your hand. The dri-lex pattern in the wrist helps a lot also. I would much rather have that than fur. This could very well be used for highschool and other serious players who like a tighter fit. I really do love this glove.

Cons: I haven't seen any cons thus far.

Pros: Fairly stiff when out of box, but given the high quality of leather used, that is to be expected. It does take a little more work to get it broke in properly but when you do, your extra effort will be richly rewarded. My son has been using it frequently for about two weeks now and he loves it. It is a well made, substantial glove. What Wilson has termed as the "Pedroia fit" translates into about a 1" distance from the bend of the wrist to the heel of the glove. While it did take some time for my son to adjust to the fit and feeling of this, he now says he'll never go back to a regular fit again. Overall, very pleased with the glove. And a thumbs up to justballgloves.com. Great price and awesome shipping time!!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Will the 12.25" pocket on this glove be okay for softball? I have a small hand and like the idea of Pedroia fit but just play softball for fun. I am a 30 year old male and have smaller than average hands. LookingforANewGlove
The specific model that you asked about (Wilson A1K Series A1KBB40TIF) actually features an 11.50" pattern that would be a bit small for softball play. The Pedroia fit, however, is designed with players like you in mind that have slightly smaller hands and want a secure fit. The 12.25" pattern would be the Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4OF1225).

I am in high school and I play middle infield. I don't have abnormally small hands, but they aren't that big either. Is This glove suitable in my situation? I had a Wilson A2000BB1788 but it kept falling off my hand. Nate
Yes, the Wilson A1K (A1KBB4OTIF) would be ideal for middle infield play. It will have a smaller wrist opening than the A2000BB1788 to help the glove stay on you hand.
Sean

Will this glove fit the player, that's standing 4"11" with small hands and that plays the middle infield and sometimes 3B and P? rahrah27
The Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4OTIF) will feature a smaller wrist opening and narrower finger stalls. This glove would fit a smaller hand very well and with the 11.50 inch pattern and the six finger trap style web it would play well at any position on the infield.
Cameron

The Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4OTIF) features an 11.50 inch pattern with a smaller wrist opening and narrower finger stalls, making this glove an excellent size & choice for a player with smaller hands.

My son is playing HS ball as a shortstop. Would this glove work? joser
The Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF is an infield specific model with an 11.50 inch pattern so it would absolutely work for a high school shortstop.
John P.
I play 3rd base and have big and thick hands. Will this glove fit me? john
The Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF has a tighter fit compared to an adult glove. If you have bigger hands, the A1K series is probably not going to be the best fit for you. The 2016 Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB161789 would be a better option for a player with bigger hands.
Jason
I'm a highschool starting pitcher. I need a good, long lasting glove. Would this glove fit me? CJ
The Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF is a great glove to consider for a high school pitcher. The six finger trap style web makes this glove ideal for concealing what pitch you are about to throw. The 11.50 inch pattern also make this glove perfect for PFPs. Only thing to look into is how this glove will fit as the Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF has a smaller wrist opening and tighter finger stalls.
Cameron
What is the six finger trap style? Jackson
The six finger trap style refers to the webbing design of the Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF. This is going to be a similar webbing design of the Rawlings modified trapeze-web design.
Cameron
Would this glove be too small for a high school 3rd baseman? me
The Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF is an 11.50 inch pattern and could certainly be a good fit for a high school 3rd baseman. This glove does feature a smaller wrist opening and tighter finger stalls so it could be too small of a fit for some high school players (all depends on hand size and personal preference).
Cameron
Is this glove wrist opening tighter than the Pedroia models? me
The wrist opening on the Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF will be similar to that of the Dustin Pedroia models; would not say it would be any tighter.
Cameron
Would this be a good glove for me? I'm 5'0" with average size hands. I play third, second, pitcher, and outfield. rahrah27
The Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4OTIF) is a great glove. It would be considered a transitional glove for players looking to move up to an adult glove from a youth size. The wrist openings and finger stalls are going to be smaller and narrower than a traditional adult sized glove.

My hand is 7 inches. Is this glove too little? yolii
The Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF features the Pedroia fit - smaller hand opening, tighter finger stalls for more secure fit. Based on your hand size this glove will probably feel too small. Would recommend looking into the A2000 models from Wilson as these gloves will not fit as snug.
Cameron
Would I still be able to use this glove for pitching and second base even though my hand is 7"? rah27
The Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4OTIF) features a smaller fit meaning the wrist opening and finger stalls will be smaller and narrower. Your hand will probably be too large for the glove.

I am an infielder and an outfielder. Would this be a good glove for me? Reece da beast
The Wilson A1K Series: A1KBB4OTIF is ideal for pitchers and infield positions. We suggest looking for a glove that has a utility pattern as that will be appropriate for both infield and outfield.

The "A1K" that is included in the name of this Wilson A1K Series (A1KBB4OTIF) is just the nickname for this mitt. It does not have a specific meaning to it, but is just the code used to specify this specific line of mitt.
