Description

This Shoeless Joe Glove 1200FB gives a player the quality, feel, and style of the gloves worn by professional ball players over the last 100 years. You can choose glove models worn in the first half of century in the Golden Age Series or today`s models in the Professional Model Series. The Shoeless Joe gloves are individually hand-cut and sewn from Special Aged Antique Tobacco Leather Hides. The Shoeless Joe Glove 1200FB First Base Mitt is hand-rubbed with old time ingredients to soften the leather before it goes through the breaking in process that leaves the Glove with a beaten up and `Game Worn` look and feel, of a broken in glove. Thus each glove is unstructured giving it its own unique feature. Players can choose to play with an old time or modern day web without having to change to another model. A great play is lived only once, but your glove, you`ll keep it forever. If you end a game with a clean uniform our gloves are not for you. Shoeless Joe: When it Was Just a Game! Pros: This glove is extremely well made with a retro look, feel, and smell. It took about a week to fully break in. No ball escapes from this glove. Any first baseman would be proud to own it with it's great feel and good looks. It's a winner.

Cons: None. I only wish I had discovered the Shoeless Joe gloves earlier. They are well worth the price.

Pros: I own three Shoeless Joe gloves... a 12" outfielders mitt, 32" catchers mitt and this 1st base glove. Breaking in time is fast, comfort is very good, playability is excellent. Looks don't mean much to me but... they look good too.

Cons: The only con I have with these gloves are that the break in so fast they become flimsy. Some players like a soft flimsy glove... some like them firm... but these get soft and loose quickly...

K.P.

Pros: I was asked to move from SS to 1st base last year with my Showcase team because I am tall and a better target. My Dad bought me this glove and it was an instant winner. The workmanship is as good as it gets and the break in period is all but zero. I would recommend this glove to anyone.

Cons: I do not have a Shoeless Joe for the other positions but I am working on Dad and should have that need filled soon. :)

Goodie

Pros: Nostalgic, retro glove is a gamer out of the box, the smell the feel takes me back to the days of my youth. I bought it for my son a left handed first baseman, He is 9, the glove is a bit big, but soft and pliable, the ball just sticks in the pocket.

Cons: This is a great glove for a kid, or an occasional player, the very benefits of easy break in becomes a liability at the highest levels, as the glove will become floppy and there is very little padding in the palm, I wouldn't want to catch a 75mph ball with it. Of course if your old school and your stings a bit...... guess that's baseball ... takes you back to when it was just a game.

Great Glove Bill O. coach

Pros: My son plays A level 10u travel ball and got this for christmas this year. It is an awesome mitt, comes almost fully broken in and high quality. We had a catch today and it performed really well and wasn't stiff like most new mitts. Will buy another one in the future

Cons:

Great mitt! David Parent

Pros: My son is very happy with this glove. Break in took a little longer than the 30 minutes of hard throwing suggested in the glove tag, but that seemed unrealistic. After a week of use though it was ready and good for games. Haven’t seen (yet) any of the issues mentioned by other reviewers of the glove getting too soft and losing shape. Catching has been great, the ball really seems to nestle nicely into the glove even with off target throws to first.

Cons: None so far!

Became floppy after 1.5 years Steve Coach

Pros: Old school feel, quick break in.

Cons: Great feel and break in but after time, with 3-4 times per year being oiled, the glove became floppy and hard to manage for an 11yr old hand strength. Balls that don’t hit the pocket have a tendency of falling out. Just bought son a new glove despite this one still the proper size.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Shoeless Joe Professional 12" Baseball First Base Mitt: 1200FB? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is looking for a glove with a good "grip" on the inside i.e. something that doesn't feel slippery on the inside when he catches the ball at first base. Appreciate your advice. Raghu
Nearly all gloves are leather on the interior of the glove. This leather can become "smoothed" over time by use and the oils in the hand. If this is an issue, the best solution might be to wear a batting glove on the hand inside the glove.
Kyle M.
I am looking for a first base mitt for an average sized 10 yr old. Will this glove fit ok? Jayson
A 12 inch first base mitt is a good size for a 10 year old. The wrist opening may be larger than average for a 10 year old, but it should work well for him.
Josh
I purchased this glove and received yesterday. My question is, will it be ok for a 15 yr old to use on his H.S. team? He plays first base and pitches also. Just wondering if the size is "right for him"? Tuck n F.V, Ca
This Shoeless Joe Professional Series model would be ideal for a High School first base. The best size for pitching model would be 11.75" or 12" model. You can always check out our glove coach to help selecting the best size and model for you. http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
John
Is the wrist strap adjustable for a smaller hand? My son is an elite 11U player and is currently using an older model Wilson Big Scoop. wec3
The wrist strap is not adjustable. The Shoeless Joe Professional Series run a little big, so a smaller size would work better for a small eleven year old.
Kara
Are the Shoeless Joe first base gloves almost game ready ? Any issues with durability ? Mike
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series will be very close to game ready and have not had any issues of durability.
Tom
Thinking of buying this mitt for my son. I can't tell by the pictures, but does it have some type of padding or fur strip under the red label? Karen
Yes. The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2400FBTD First Base Mitt has a wool lining on the inside of the wrist strap.
Tyler
Is a 12 inch 1st base glove an adequate size for a men's baseball league? Isn't 13 inch preferable? jg
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2400FBTD First Base Mitt is a little small for an adult baseball player. We recommend the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2600FBTT First Base Mitt. It is a 13.00" model.
Kara
2nd question. Can I get this in a 11.5 "I need to now so as I can get it ASAP all stars are starting and a lot of travel ball. cuinn2002
Unfortunately, the Shoeless Joe Professional Series ( 2400FBTD First Base Mitt) does not come in an 11.50". As for the size, the 12.00" might be a little large for him but he would be able to get away with it.
Cooper
I am a 14 years old and I am getting into first base. What glove should I get? I have a larger sized hand and my brother had a mitt and it was too small. Ryan
Based on your age, our Glove Coach recommends a 12.50" pattern. The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200FB) is a 12" pattern, so it may be too small for you, especially if you have larger hands. Sizing is preferential though, so if you would feel more comfortable going with a 12" pattern, that is something to take into consideration as well.
Tessa
Is this the right size for a 13 year old player? AR
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200FB) First Base Mitt features a 12" pattern and it is the ideal size for a 13 year old player.
Jason
My son is 11 years old. I want a first base mitt that will fit him for a while. He is 5 foot 4 inches tall. Would he be fine with the 12 inch model? Steve
The length of the pocket is more a matter of personal preference for the player rather than it being based on their size. At that age, if you want to get a good lifespan from the glove, it is important to decide between a youth sized model with smaller finger stalls and wrist openings or an adult model that they may be able to grow into like the Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1200FB). 12-13 inch mitts are fairly common as players develop.
Patrick
Is this an appropriate size glove for an 85 pound 7 year old? jmesue81
Typically, for a 7 year old first baseman, I would recommend a mitt with an 11.50 inch pattern. The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200FB First Base Mitt features a 12.00 inch pattern so it may be a tad bit too large for your player.
John P.
Should I go with the 12 inch model or 13 inch model for a 5 ft 7 inch 165 lb 13 year old? Rc
A 12 inch first base mitt would be a common size for a 13 year old and I would recommend taking a look at the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200FB First Base Mitt.
Carter
What size would you recommend for a 14-year-old with large hands? Brody13
Given your player's specifications, I would not recommend the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200FB First Base Mitt as the 12.00" size would likely be too small. Instead, I would recommend checking out the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt.
Tyler
Is this a good size for the average sized 10 year old? Trey Ladut
For a 10 year old, the 12" size of this Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1200FB First Base Mitt is actually the recommended size. I feel confident that this would be an excellent glove for your player.
Tyler
My 8 year son is playing first base for his Summer Allstar team will this glove be too big for him? John
Yes this Shoeless Joe Professional 12" First Base Mitt: 1200FB will likely be too big. It is designed for kids roughly ages 10-15
