Pros: Awesome glove. The finest youth glove around. Easy break in and great quality. My son is playing better with this glove. Great youth fit, not a small size adult glove.
Cons: none. Worth the price.

Pros: I bought a heart of the hide like two years ago but i lost it.. it was an amazing glove, and it has super soft leather that breaks in fairly quick. Gets a little floppy if you overwork it. but if you know how to break in a glove and break it in right then this is a fantastic glove
Cons: didnt have enough time to see any cons

Pros: Hands down the best youth glove out there. 100 percent quality at every inch. You hold this glove and you can immediately tell that no other glove compares. My 8 year old loves it. in fact it seemed to break in after knly a few catches.
Cons: i read a review that someone lived the glove but complained that the wrist was too large for a youth. this is true but you can relace and adjust it to make it smaller. it now fits perfect for my 8 year old.
The Sultan
Pros: I am a 15 year old Middle infielder and it is awesome, the pro taper is great because i have small hands. And the leather keeps its shape and holds up great
Cons: The pinkie has trouble holding a flare

What do you think about the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Taper Series Youth and the Wilson A2000 Superskin Showcase Series SC1796 SS Youth. We are looking at both of these gloves for my seven year old son. He will be eight for this Spring baseball and we want to buy a glove that will last a few seasons. Wade
My son is a little smaller 8 year old that plays a lot of 2nd base. I'm having problems finding an high quality 11" glove for him. They seem to go from the 10.5" youth Nokona to 11.5" gloves. What do you suggest for a high quality (ignore price) glove for my boy? If he had his choice, he'd prefer a black h or I web pattern. Again, my challenge is his size which hinders his glove control with a larger glove a little. Dave
Is this glove made in a Left Handed Thrower? If so when would it be available? Nicki
My son is 10 years old and is about 4 feet 10" tall. Is this a good size glove? Is this an infielders glove? Daniel
How long should this glove last? bballnelson21

Is a glove with the I web better for a short stop or is it better to have a glove with the trapeze web design? Remember I am talking about an 8 year old. tim
What is the weight of the Youth Heart of the Hide infield glove? RJ
My son is 8 years old and weighs around 65 lbs. Right now he uses a Mizuno Franchise 11" and I was thinking he could go with the 11.25" Heart Of The Hide because he plays both IF and OF. The glove he uses now looks a little small on him when he plays OF, plus it is getting worn out. I don't want to get something too big but I didn't think that .25" would be that much of a jump. How do the Rawlings sizes compare to Mizuno? I was ready to order but your recommending 11 inch gloves to 11-12 year olds. Walt
What is the difference between this glove PRO112PT and the PRO88DCC and the PRO204DCC? Clemente21
My son is 9 but is large for his age, about 95 lbs. and 4' 8". Should I stay with a youth mitt or move up to adult? I'm willing to pay this much for a glove if it will fit for a few years. BigCEE
My son is almost 11 years old, 4'11" and 95 pounds. He plays Little League as well as travel ball, 2B, SS, P, and CF are all the positions he plays. He currently has a 10 3/4" Rawlings that he loves but seems a little small. Would you recommend this glove or an 11.25" A2000? Kurt
Need help on deciding on a glove for my 7 yr old son that plays on a elite travel ball team. The gloves I have in mind are the PRO112PT, Rawlings PRO88DCC or the Rawlings REVO 9SC112CF. Any advise will be much appreciated. Chavo
What would you recommend for a 12 year old shortstop: the Rawlings PRO112PT Youth or the Wilson A1K model? Does 11.25" seem like the right size? Redhawk
I bought this glove and its inner pocket was not padded well in comparison to the 125th Anniversary Limited Edition glove we also have. I'm looking for that same inner padding similar to the 125th Limited Edition glove. What do you recommend? It needs to be thick since my son plays infield and no bigger than 12". Pimmie
Have the Pro Taper youth gloves been discontinued? I can't find the 11.00" and 11.25" models listed on your web site. I just ordered a 11.00" model on Monday and wanted to order more. Yama

My son just turned 11, looking to upgrade his glove. He is on the smaller side, maybe around 75 lbs. He plays 2nd, short, pitch and outfield for a travel team. Cannot decide which one to get him between this glove, the 11" PRO110PT model or the Nokona alpha select 200. Any advice would be appreciated. speedy
Looking at this for my son heading into 12U. Comparing this to the equivalent 11.5 model. Concern is around fingers, as there have been previous mentions of a "snug fit". Is there a return policy should I find out this is a little too snug? MKinAustin

About the Brand
Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.
The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.
In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.
In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.
The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.
Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
