it's great! Gavin Hill player

Pros: its a great mitt. ive had it for about 2 seasons. its held up well, it breaks in fairly easy, and it is firm even when its been used a lot. with the mesh back, the glove is very light weight. it is easy to handle when reaching for wild pitches. this mitt is very durable even with the mesh as a back. i highly recommend this mitt for players trying to learn the position, or players that have been catching for a while.

Cons: there are no disadvantages!

What's the difference between the PROJP20MX and the PROJP20M? Allstars22
The Rawlings PROJP20MX has a two-piece closed web and the PROJP20M has a fully closed web. Here is a link to further compare these gloves. http://www.justballgloves.com/compare/
Tom
Is this a good size glove for high school or should I get the 34 inch glove? Eric
The size of your glove is dependent upon the size of your hand. The recommended size for a 17 year old catcher would be 33". The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt is a 32.5" so it may be a little small but that would be dependent on your size as well.
Jeff
How would this glove compare to a Wilson A2000? catcher
The quality of leather used in both the Rawlings Heart of the Hide and Wilson A2000 will be extremely comparable. Really the only difference is the Pro Mesh featured on the back of the Rawlings is designed to make the glove lighter than a regular Rawlings Heart of the Hide.
Tom
What is the difference between the Rawlings PROJP20MX HOH Pro Mesh 32.5 Inch Catcher's Mitt and the Rawlings PROJP20M HOH Pro Mesh 32.5 inch Catcher's Mitt ? jerry
They are the same. The PROJP20MX is simply a newer model in Rawlings' 2013 line.
Tyler
What are the cons of the mesh backing? high school catcher
A few cons for the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt could be the weight. It will have a lighter feel compared to a full leather model. Also, maybe some dirt can get the mesh dirty and be hard to get clean.
Brandon
Would you recommend this glove for a twelve year old? To give you a frame of reference, my son wears an adult small batting glove. Or should he use a youth 32" or an adult 32" mitt? What mitts would you recommend for a player who is transitioning from youth ball to more competitive levels of play? catch13
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt is a great option for a 12 year old, as it's designed for adult hands. We typically recommend a 32.00" for a 12 year old, but this 32.50" is an appropriate size that he could use for a few years.
Katie
Does this mitt have the Poron XRD padding? A4JK
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt does have PORON XRD padding.
Kevin
is this glove suitable for D1 college baseball? catchermiggy01
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt is a little small for a college player. We recommend the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Solid Core Series: PROCMSC Catcher's Mitt.
Kara
What size glove would a high school kid need? hop
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt would be a good option at 32.50". Generally, at that age we recommend a 33.00" model. Please visit our Glove Coach for further information on sizing http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Aubrey
How does this glove compare in weight to the 32 inch Pro Elite series from All Star? ethan123
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt will feel lighter than the Pro Elite All Star because of the pro mesh material.
Kara
Would this be a good mitt for an 11 year old? His hands are slightly larger than average, but not huge for his age, but he does wear a batting glove with his mitt. NW Florida
At 32.50", the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt is a great size for an 11 year old player for the next few years. It is an adult glove, designed with bigger finger stalls and a wider wrist opening. We recommend making that transition at age 12, but if his hands are slightly large for his age he should be okay now.
Katie
Will this glove be able to handle college level pitching for multiple years? Late Taing
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt is made from high-quality Heart of the Hide leather, so with good care, this glove will offer great durability. The life of your glove is most dependent on how it is cared for, but by starting with high-quality leather, this mitt gives you a good shot at lasting durability.
Mac
What size mitt would be good for my 14 year old son? He has a small hand. carver
The size of catchers mitt that the player should use would be more based on player preference rather than the size of their hand. On the inside of the mitt, the hand will fit the same regardless of size. Even professional players vary in the size mitt they prefer. If you want a larger target or deeper pocket to secure the ball go with a larger mitt. If you want a shallower pocket for easier transition to the throwing hand, it would be good to go with a smaller mitt like the 32.5 inch Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series (PROJP20MX).

I'm 14 and will soon go into high school. I'm about 6'1. This glove feels a little too small and I would like a bigger glove. Any recommendations? Zach
Another glove that will be very similar to the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series (PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt) that is also manufactured by Rawlings would be the Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PROCM33DCB Catcher's Mitt). This glove will feature a similar grade leather to the PROJP20MX, however it will be offered in a 33.00 inch pattern which is larger.
Joe
For a freshman that is 5'9" and 160 lbs, which mitt would you recommend between the a 33" Rawlings Heart Of The Hide Dual Core Series (PROCM33DCB) Catcher's Mitt or the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series (PROJP20MX) Catcher's Mitt is the 32.50"? B
The bat coach feature on our website recommends a 32" glove for a freshman who is 5'9" and weighs 160 lbs. With that said, I would suggest going with the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt.
Liz
For a 13U, 7th grader. Plays AAU. Currently has the Rawlings GG Gamer 32.5-inch Catcher's Mitt and doesn't like it. Ball continually pops out on him. He had the Mizuno GX100? before that as his first starter glove, and he did like that glove. What glove should he move into? He's about 5'5" and is "long". TB01803
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series (PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt) features a 32.50 inch pattern which is likely a little too large for a player of his size and age. I would recommend a 31.50 inch model such as the CM1100PRO Catcher's Mitt. However, if you wanted to try the Pro Mesh model, we do offer a 100 Day Guarantee and pay the shipping both ways.
Joe
What is the best way to break in this glove? jdsabre
The Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series (PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt) will require a significant break in period. We would recommend playing catch with it as well as using a shaping ball to preserve the pocket whenever it is not on the players hand. Also, applying a light coat of oil during the break in will make shaping the glove much easier.
Joe
Please rank the break in time between this mitt, the A2000 and the All Star 3000CMSBT. cwlaw
Break-in time would probably be the shortest on the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series (PROJP20MX) and longest on the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE) with the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) somewhere in between.
Patrick
Does this glove play like a true 32.5 inch? Andrew Contreras
We have not heard anything that would indicate the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROJP20MX Catcher's Mitt plays smaller or larger than its listed size of 32.50 inches.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
