Pros: Quality Glove. Game ready right out of the box. Index finger pad, very soft leather, good padding and lacing.

Cons: Sizing is a little big. Wish this model was made a touch smaller for 2nd base or in an 11" size.

Pros: Looks good and is pretty much game ready right away. I LOVE the softness of the leather used on this glove. Decent padding for the price and its super comfortable.

Cons: Let a teammate use it and he hated the leather. I guess if you're looking for Primo or Heart of the Hide quality, you're going to have to go with something more expensive. Personally, it doesn't get any better than this for me. Exactly what I was looking for.

what would be the best shortstop glove for my grandson. He is 13 years old and dreams of being in the majors. By the way he plays he lloks like he is on that road. If you could plEASE GIVE ME SOME POINTERS PLEASE EMAIL ME BACK DIANE
Generally, a 11.25 or 11.5 inch glove will be ideal for a 13 year old playing shortstop. As far as the best glove, there really isn't one that's head and shoulders above the rest. It really comes down to personal preference. The higher the price of the glove, usually indicates that it's made with a higher quality of leather and will be more durable, but also make take longer to break in. The lower the price, the easier the glove will be to break in, but it may not be as durable. Some of my top choices would be the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Series, Rawling Pro Preferred Series and Wilson A2000 Series. Webbing is also another personal preference. Some infielders prefer a closed web glove, other like an open web.

I have an 11 year old shortstop. I need to know if the 11 or 11.25 size is appropriate. Moe
Either of those sizes would be appropriate. As long as your within the accepted range of sizes for the player, it is all personal preference. I take him somewhere to try on an 11 and an 11.25 and see which one he prefers.
Mark
my brother is 10 and he is playing travel baseball and he plays third base what glove should i get him and what size should it be? bigbrother
Given his age and position, an 11 or 11.25 inch glove would be recommended. This glove (GGNP2G) would be an excellent option. A few other good choices would be the Louisville H2SL1100, Glovesmith 1100I09, Akadema AZR95, Akadema AOZ91, Louisville OFL1125, Mizuno GMVP1126P or the Rawlings 7SC112CS. All would be excellent options.

I'm about to 11 and I was wondering if this would be good for we. I play second base and I got a rawlings Sandlot glove a few months ago. B Sully 15
Yes, this would be a great glove for you. Most infielders use this size of glove. This is going to be a glove that is going to last you a couple of years.
Brett
im 15 im about to go into highschool i play outfield and second base what glove should i use? ry
15 and 16 year olds who play multiple positions at the High School level typically use a glove between 12 and 12.5 inches. Based on the price range of this glove, some good options would be the Wilson HG12B, Louisville H2L1200, Louisville OFL1200, Akadema ADH214, Rawlings GG12XTCG, Rawlings GG20G, Rawlings GG1225G, Wilson KP92BBL, Brett Bros PMSP125, Akadema ALN225, and Louisville OPRO1250.

im 12 i play thirdbase what glove should i get red sox fan
For a 12 year old third baseman, a 11.25 glove like this one would be a good fit. There are a lot of great gloves out there and not just one that stands out amongst the rest. A few others you can look at in the same price range as the GGNP2G are the Louisville H2L1125, Akadema AGR215, Nike BF1363, Louisville OPRO1125 and Mizuno GMVP1126P.
Brett
will barbasol beard shaving cream mess up my glove if i can't completely get it off? i conditioned it for one nite and wiped it off in the morning. do i need nakona glove conditioner for all rawlings gloves? thanks much. red sox fan
No, it will not hinder the performance of the glove. It might leave a stain on the glove, but you will still be able to use the glove.
Brett
My son is on a U-12 team and primarily plays SS. He's average ht. & wt. for a 12 year old. We're leaning toward this glove however I'm concern about the reviews that say it's a little big & loose, so we're also considering the GG1102G. His current glove is an 11.50" youth. What do you suggest? PDS
I haven't heard this glove is loose. We do have a 100 day guarantee on our gloves. If you aren't completely satisfied you can return the glove for a full refund. I believe the GG1102G is going to be too small for a 12 year old.

I'm fifteen and I play second base and I would like to know what size glove would be appropriate for me. JohnnyD21
I would recommend a 11.25 or 11.50 for your age and position.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
