Pros: Great glove and fairly easy to break in. Soft supple leather.Great for pitching, feels great on hand until floppy, not too heavy.

Cons: Im a pitcher/cather. Had this glove for one year and it's already floppy. Also leather is too soft in the palm.Wear in the palm area is already evident. Breaks in way too fast. A great glove but doesn't last long enough. Most of Nokonas gloves are too soft like this. I've had two and the palm showed alot of wear after one season in both. Does not retain shape well after broken in.

Pros: The best leather I have ever seen on a ball glove ! We have been using Wilson A2000 and A2K gloves and the Nokona by far is a superior glove. Feels great the second you put your hand in it. Breaks in faster than you think and molds right to your hand unlike the popular brands that are just stiff and hard. We will never buy another brand again. Nokona player for life !!

Cons: Absolutely none

Pros: Excellent quality glove for 10 year old utility -SS/Pitcher/OF. Stiff enough for infield at this age and soft enough for outfield. Breaks in as it should with about 4-6 weeks of regular use.

Cons: May be a little flimsy for accomplished players in older age group who will want a stiffer glove for infield. Suggest Pro Line or Blood Line for older player.

Pros: After 20 years of my not knowing any better, my family treated me to a Nokona glove for Father's Day. With regards to baseball, it was life changing. If I enjoyed playing catch with my boys using my old glove (that shall not be named) in the yard before, I'm at the next level now. Five stars!

Cons: I wish I had one of each model. They're a pleasure.

Coach John

Pros: This is a great classic glove with a very natural fit. It has a deep (not too deep) pocket and is fairly easy to break in if used regularly. It has taken about 2 to 3 weeks to make the glove fieldworthy, but you must give the glove some attention. I would recommend the extra, measley $7 for the Nokona glove conditioner to help the process. I would not recommend 'steaming' the glove. The Ball Glove Warehouse shipped the glove immediately and I received it within 2 days. No need to pay extra for rush shipping

Cons: The glove has fine leather quality so it will be stiff upon arrival. Don't wait until your old glove is unusable.

It is American made, breaks in fast, forms to your hand, and is the most comortable glove i have ever owned. Reviews say this glove runs small and mine actually runs about a half inch big. Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB-1150M (AMG1150WMT)? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Do you have this Nokona in stock? Bob
Under "Choose A Size" on the top of the webpage we will always show what we have in stock and ready to ship. As of 4/7/2011, this glove is in stock in a Right Hand Thrower.
John
My son has a Nokona glove and he loves it ... the only bad review I read about Nokona is that they get "floppy" over time. Is this because of not treating the glove well or is it a by-product of the type of leather used? Curious because I like buying American made goods and there are only a couple of baseball glove companies that make their gloves in the US using American leathers. Thanks BF
This is known as a flimsy glove. This is the most flimsy glove of all the Nokona gloves. This is a great glove if the person using the glove doesn"t mind it getting flimsy.
Brett
Is this a youth model? What is the difference between a youth model and regular adult model? Chris
This glove is going to be an adult glove. Youth gloves will have smaller hand and finger stalls. The adult gloves will have bigger hand and finger stalls.
Brett
I am an older guy who wants to play pitch with the neighbor kid and I would like to have a glove to pass on to my new grandson. I want a Nokona and I wondered about this glove or some other Nokona you might suggest. Thanks John
The WB1150M is the updated version of the older American Pro series. It uses very high quality Walnut leather in its construction. The glove will last and hold its shape well over a long period of time. The durable leather will take a moderate amount of time to break in.
Mark
I'm looking for a glove that is fairly light, durable, a smaller pocket for infield at 11.5', and for around $170. Which one is better out of the Nokona Walnut WB1150M and the Mizuno Global Elite GGE6? I am 14 and play middle infield. Sam
Both gloves will be good options, it just depends on what you like. Both are durable and will be game ready.
KG
Can this glove be used in fastpitch softball? My daughter is a 14 yr old middle infielder but has a small hand and needs a small glove that is going to last. Jojo
This is more of a baseball glove. The pocket is designed for baseballs and may be to big in size for fastpitch.
KG
I was wondering if this glove could be used for the outfield because I play pitcher and outfield and I want a good glove that I can use for both positions. Tristen
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series would be a good infield glove. However, Nokona gloves run small. We suggest moving to a 12" or 12.50" glove for outfield.
Kara
Will this work for a 9 year old? jadon
Yes, the Nokona Classic Walnut WB1150M is a good option for a 9 year old. The 11.50" is a very common size for younger players.
Kris
Would this glove be okay for a 7 year old, average height and weight? Rickcwood
Yes, the Nokona Classic Walnut WB1150M is a good option for a 7 year old. The 11.50" is a very common size for that age group.
Sean
Do they make this glove for lefty's? S
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series is made in a left hand thrower. However, we are currently out of stock. We receive shipments on a regular basis. As soon as we receive the item, our website will be updated immediately.
Kara
If I used this glove and treated it right how long can I expect it to last? brave97
I've known some players who have used their Nokona Walnut gloves for 4+ years. They are known to be very durable.
Tyler
I have a 10 year old that plays SS, pitcher and 3rd. What size glove should I go with? Baller
For a 10 year old at those positions, a glove between 11 and 11.5 inches is recommended. If you want a glove he can grow into and use for several years, I would recommend an 11.5 inch model.
Tyler
My 10 year old pitches and plays outfield (and throws lefty). I am thinking 11.5" or 11.75" as his current 11" mitt is getting too small. Is this a good mitt for those positions? Would you say 11.5" or 11.75"? BaseballDad
We recommend the 11.50" for your son's age and position. The Nokona Classic Walnut Series would be a great fit.
Kara
Hello I was wondering do Nokona gloves run true to size? And if so would this glove would be ideal for the infield, right? Mike
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series will run approximately 1 1/4 inch to a 1/2 inch smaller than listed.
Kara
Is it possible to personalize this glove? Tony
Unfortunately at this time we are unable to personalize any of our products. We sell all of our products how we receive them from the manufacturer's.
John
Does this glove run true to size? Dan
Fielders gloves and first base mitts are measured by starting at the top of the index finger of the glove down the finger along the inside of the pocket and then out to the heal of the glove. There can be differences in the depth and size of the finger stalls but the glove should measure true to size.
Jeff
Hello i am a pitcher and shortstop/second base this would be a good infield baseball mitt for my positions right? tyler
That depends on the age of the player. I recommend our glove coach. It's a great tool: http://www.ballglovewarehouse.com/glove-coach/
Tyler
Are there really only LHTs available for this? When will some more RHTs come in? Q
We only show the sizes that are in stock. If you do not see your size as an option, that means it is out of stock. Our next shipment of Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1150M right hand thrower gloves will be here in approximately 2-4 weeks.
Tyler
Anything for a left hand thrower with open web 11.75? ED
The only Nokona open web glove in a left hand thrower is the Nokona Bloodline Series: BL1175H (AMG1175BLH).
Kara
My son is 11 years old and 4'11". He plays 2nd base as well as other infield positions. Is this a good glove for him? Ralphie
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1150M (AMG1150WMT) would be a great infielder's glove. It may feel a little heavy, but should not be an issue. The quality of leather and durability of this glove will be unmatched.
Brandon
How does the leather of this glove compare to the A2000 1786? Ben
Both the Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1150M and Wilson A2000 Series: A2000BB1786ST have similar quality leather, durability and break-in time.
Tyler
Is their a way to stop it from being flimsy? bigdaddy
Once the leather in a glove wears down and becomes flimsy and it loses its shape, it's rather difficult to get it back to its original state. However, relacing the glove or taking it somewhere to get the padding replaced may help restore a little of the stiffness it once had.
Tyler
How does this glove compare in size to the Rawlings Pro Taper Mesh 11.25"? My son has the Pro Taper Mesh, and it fits him well. Is the hand on this glove comparable? My son is 10.5 years old, and is a average to smaller sized infielder pitcher. Would this glove be good for him, or possibly any other recommendations? Drew
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1150M (AMG1150WMT) runs slightly smaller than 11.50". It will feel similar in size to the Rawlings Pro Taper Mesh 11.25". The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1150M (AMG1150WMT) will require a longer break-in period.
Kara
What is the difference between the WB1150M and the AMG1150WMT? Nokona Fan
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB1150M) and the (AMG1150WMT) are the same glove. Nokona used to identify their gloves with AMG models numbers for their gloves. They have simply changed the way the gloves are identified.
Kara
My son is 10 years old and is using a 11.25" Rawlings. Would this glove be too big for him? How about the Youth Bloodline? Would that work? RW
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB1150M (AMG1150WMT) will be an 11.50" glove. If he wants a larger model compared to his 11.25" I would recommend the WB1150M. Very high quality and durable model.
Brandon
I'm a high school second baseman and I wanted to know if this is a good glove. What size would you suggest? What glove would you suggest? I don't want one that is going to get flimsy after a year or so. Ronan
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB1150M (AMG1150WMT) is a great option for a second baseman. It's 11.50 inch design and high quality durable leather should be perfect for middle infield play and should keep the shape of the pocket very well.
Patrick
I am 12, is this glove too big? I am 5' and 94 lbs. flash
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB1150M) (AMG1150WMT) has an 11.50" pattern and is great for a 12 year old. Typically, an 11.50" glove is used by infielders.
Jason
Is it stiff when you buy it? tank
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB-1150M (AMG1150WMT) will be fairly stiff out of the box. The Walnut leather is known to be very sturdy and pliable.
John H
My son is 12 going on 13. He plays middle infield primarily. He's had a 11.5" Rawlings forever, but since he is older now should we increase his glove size or stick with this size? Birdo
For a player of his size, our glove coach recommends an 11.50" model of the Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB-1150M) (AMG1150WMT). Additionally, most middle infielders do play with a fairly small (when compared to other players) glove, as it allows them to get the ball out of the pocket fairly quickly to make plays.
Joe
I am 13 years old and 5 feet tall with large hands. Would you recommend this glove for me? Chance
For a player of your size, our glove coach recommends an 11.50 inch model such as the Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB-1150M).
Joe
My son is 11 years old 5 foot tall, pitches and plays first base maybe a little outfield. I heard this is considered a flimsy glove. I am wondering if this would hold up if he uses it at first base? He really does not like a first baseman glove at this time. He throws left handed. marv
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB-1150M) (AMG1150WMT) is a very durable glove made from cowhide, therefore, it will hold up at first base.
Allison
Would this be a glove for my 11 year old son that he could use all through school? coy
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series: WB-1150M (AMG1150WMT) is an excellent quality glove and if taken care of will last him a long time. Naturally you will probably need a new glove as your son gets older and bigger, so he will probably outgrow the glove before the glove wears down.
Jake
What is the difference between this glove and the Nokona Buffalo Combo Series? Which would be better for a high school 3rd baseman? Tate
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series WB-1150M (AMG1150WMT) features an 11.50 inch pattern. Additionally, it is constructed from Nokona's premium Walnut Tanned Cowhide. This is a high grade of leather that will take some time to break in, however it will hold it's structure and shape very well in the long term. The Nokona Buffalo Combo Series BC1150M (AMG1150BCMT) features a blend of the premium Walnut leather as well as Buffalo hide. The Buffalo hide is much softer and more flexible, which allows for a quicker break in time. Either glove would be an excellent model and likely last him the duration of his career. Some third basemen do prefer a 12.00 inch or larger model.
Joe
Does the WB-1150M fit for an adult who just wants to play with his son or would the WB-1250 fit better? Mikaël
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB-1150M (AMG1150WMT)) or the Nokona Walnut Softball Series (WS1250C) should both be fine for that type of use. The preference would come down to which pocket size you prefer.
Patrick
Is this a good glove for 3rd base? JJ
The Nokona Classic Walnut Series (WB-1150M) may be a bit small for what some third basemen may prefer but could work well at that position if they prefer the smaller pocket size.
Patrick

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
