Pros: The leather is beautiful and the construction top-quality. Yes, it takes a little work to break it in, but our son was playing ball with it very comfortably the day after he got it and says it's the best glove he's ever had. The glove continues to get better with each use. A beautiful glove that should last for years.

Cons: This glove (and apparently all Nokonas?) seems to run at least 1/2" smaller than expected. This 12.75 seems to be roughly equivalent to other manufacturers' 12".

It says this is an outfield glove; what is the difference. I would like to order this glove but I play infield. JMike
The Bl1275MBLK is an outfield pattern meaning the size and design are more common for outfield. It can still be used for the infield but the size of the glove is a common outfield size
Sean
Hi, would I be able to use this glove as an outfielder for Slow Pitch Softball? Would the pocket be big enough to catch a softball? K-Dog
The BL1275MBLK is a outfield baseball glove. Nokona gloves do run a little small, so this would be more of an infield softball glove. We recommend the Nokona Buckaroo Black Softball Series: BS1300CBLK.
Kara
Will this be good for a freshman who plays outfield? Mike
This glove would be perfect for a high school outfielder. The size and web type are perfect for an outfield glove.
Jennifer
Is there any difference in the type of leather between the black series and the standard Nokona Bloodline gloves and if so, how will those differences affect the feel and performance of the glove? Kevin
This glove is manufactured with the same leather as the original Bloodline. The difference will be the color of the leather. These gloves are very durable and will last multiple seasons.
Kris
Which gloves quality would you say is better? This series, or the Rawlings pro preferred series? cole
I've used both. Bloodline in High School and Pro Preferred in college. Both lasted me a very long time and both are very high in quality. Both are equal in terms of overall quality.
Tyler
I am trying to decide between this glove and the Nokona Buffalo Combo Series: BC1275H. In terms of performance, what will the differences be? zach
The Nokono Bloodline BL1275MBLK will have a higher quality leather than the Nokona Buffalo Combo, although both are great gloves. Other than that it would be the preference on the web type: modified trapeze on the Bloodline vs. double post on the Buffalo Combo.
Damon
Will this glove run smaller than other brands? I heard Nokona runs half sizes smaller. skippy
The Nokona Bloodline Black Series will run about 1/4 to 1/2 inch smaller than indicated.
Kara
I'd like to get a Nokona with the modified trapeze web. I see that all of the new Nokona Bloodline gloves are black or sand/black. Are the new ones better than the previous brown Bloodline gloves? Also, what's the difference between getting this glove as a 11.5" vs. 12.75" glove? Which would be better for me? I'm 6'1", adult male. Patrick
The new Bloodline gloves are made with the same high quality leather and materials as the previous models. An 11.5" glove is best suited for an infielder where a 12.75" glove is best suited for an outfielder due to it's larger, deeper pocket. I recommend our glove coach. It's a great tool: http://www.ballglovewarehouse.com/glove-coach/

Between the Bloodline and American Legend Nokona gloves, which leather requires more break in? Christian
According to Nokona's homepage, the Nokona Bloodline Black Series: BL1275MBLK will require more effort toward the break-in than the American Legend Series. Also, higher priced models typically require more break-in time because of the higher leather quality.

About the Brand

Joe Phillips writes about his visit to Nokona. It was like sitting in at the plantation party in Gone with the Wind or maybe gazing from the grandstand at the “Field of Dreams” while the Black Sox players tried to work out their idled muscle kinks. And, I was gently reminded by the lines in that movie while I dug into a delicious plate of North Texas barbecue: “threshing crews eating at outdoor tables. It continually reminds us of what once was, like an Indian-head penny in a handful of new coins. . . You talk a good dream.” And here I was. . . graciously invited into this magical and charming “Field of Glove-Making Dreams” in former Comanche Indian land at Nocona, Texas. It was a warm August evening, basked in a golden harvest moon, while friends and the Nokona family paid its kindly southern regards to two of their own and two of America’s finest but relatively obscure glove makers, Bobby Storey and Elvin Ray “Ab” Lemons. You see, the pair had just completed fifty years of time-honored employment with Nocona Athletic Goods, the last of the all-American made ball glove company's. The occasion brought echoes of past successes and human contentment, but in Nocona today you still experience much the same American texture of yesterday and perhaps a glimpse into tomorrow as well.

The two stately gentlemen were being honored in a way that could have taken place in the same manner when they first reported for full-time work at Nokona, in 1952, or back even earlier, in 1933 when the company started making sports equipment. During a brief and informal presentation at the celebration, Nokona’s new sales manager called the two glove makers “Legends - because that’s what their ball gloves stood for, American know-how and pride taken in a best-made product.”

A man of few words but a marveled craftsman who could literally conjure a sows ear into a playable baseball mitt, Mr. Lemons got up and fondly recalled the several men he worked with through his half-century and of the training that had been passed along to him from his old bosses.

His counter part and just as talented, Bobby Storey, had filled in at just about every job at Nokona. Bobby, the son of the sporting goods founder, R.E. “Bob” Storey had most recently served as president and now chairman of the board of Nokona. Though past retirement age like Mr. Lemons, he’s now serving at one of his favorite roles, that of ball glove designer.

At a time for employment in this country when five years is considered a long tenure with the same company, Ab and Bobby are not even the first to complete a half-century journey with Nocona Athletics. The now deceased Jewell Brickey, hit that milestone in 1993, after joining the company during World War II. That’s the kind of devotion that employees forge into this glove-making outfit. A devoted and sustained tenure here is not rare. Last year the company advertising, displayed along with Storey and Lemons, three other employees who had garnered 40 years with Nokona, Warren Clary, Bud Meekins, and Melvin Weedin.“

I don’t have to tell you that the one constant through all the years has been baseball”, wrote W.P. Kinsella. And the most constant of ball glove makers has been Nokona, and the men and women there who keep alive the tradition of American craftsmanship of ball glove making. The spirit of glove-making is still alive and well in Nocona, Texas.
