Description

Mizuno has once again made it their priority to develop the games most exclusive line of ball gloves. One of those series is the Prospect Series. Mizunos patented PowerClose technology is unmatched in the industry. Others may try to duplicate, but no technology closes as easily. Multiple technologies like PowerClose, PowerLock, V-Flex, Side Bar, and SureFit Foam, afford the youth player the best options to make catching easy. The V-Flex helps initiate easy closure while the PowerClose makes it easier for younger players to close the glove and catch the ball. The Parashock palm pad with buttersoft and SureFit Foam lining in select Prospect Series models reduce shock to minimize "sting" while delivering superior feel and comfort. Above all, the PowerClose design MAKES CATCHING EASY! Mizuno: Your passion is our obsession. Free Shipping.

Pros: Soft feel to the leather. Power close technology seems legit. My son was catching the ball smooth and easy in limited use so far. A good value for the price vs. quality.

Cons: Seems a little small in the fingers and pocket web compared to other 11 inch gloves previously used by my son.

Pros: I'm a current High School ball player and have had my glove for 8 years now and it is in terrific condition. Its my glove of choice (coming from a player who has used dozens of gloves) and its like my child. Love this glove, and would recommend it to anyone. By far one of the greatest gloves I have ever used.

Cons: Make sure that after a year or two you adjust the lacing, but that's like any glove, outside of that, terrific ball glove

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1102 Youth? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Will this 11" hansome looking glove be appropriate for my grandson's first baseball experience? He will turn 9 years old in Aug. He's a bit on the frail side, at 64 lbs. I'm trying to peek his interest more in the sport, and want to start him off with the most appropriate glove. togo
For a 9 year old, an 11 inch glove is the most common recommendation. This glove is designed for the youth player and would be an excellent choice for your 9 year old grandson.
Brett
What material is this glove made from? John
This glove is made out of steer hide leather.
Brett
What is the difference between the Mizuno GPL1102 and the Mizuno GPP1102? Justin
The difference is going to be that the GPP1102 is going to be for younger players than the GPL1102. The GPL1102 will be for payers that there next glove will be an adult glove. The GPP1102 will be for players that are just starting out.
Brett
Could you explain a little more about the real differences between the GPP and GPL 1102? Is it also the quality and durability of the leather? Durango
The quality and durability are going to be the big differences with these gloves. The GPL1102 is going to be a glove that will last longer than the GPP1102. The GPP1102 is built for players 4-6. The GPL1102 is built for players 7-11.
Brett
I have a left handed softball player who is 7. Is this glove ok. She is a competitive player and there isn't much to choose from softball gloves her size. Amanda
If she's playing softball, I definitely recommend a glove made for softball as they will have a larger pocket. The Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1102 is designed as a baseball glove and won't have as large of a pocket. A glove like the Mizuno Prospect Fastpitch Series: GPP1108 would be a great option.

My son is in 9U travel this Fall and next Sping, looking for a bigger glove. He's left handed and plays 1st base, right field and pitches some. He's on the small size,,5'5" 62 lbs. Looking for a good glove with not a lot of work to break in. What glove do you recommend? Keith
The Mizuno Prospect Series would be a perfect fit for your son. It it will require little break-in.
Kara
My son is 10.5 years old, but is a little small for his age (55 lbs). He second baseman and pitcher. Would an 11" glove be the right size for him? Is there a difference between an 11" youth model and an 11" adult model? chasecarter
The 11.00" Mizuno Prospect Series: GPP1102 Youth would be the correct size for him. An 11.00" youth model has smaller hand stalls that are designed to fit younger players. An 11.00" adult model has larger hand stalls that are designed to fit older players, generally 12-13 years old and up.
Marcus
My son is 10 and 87 lbs. Is this glove the right size for him? wood
The Mizuno Prospect Series (GPP1102) Youth is an 11.00" model and would be a good size for an infielder at that age level.
