Pros: good shape, good size, nice pocket, overall great especially for the price

Cons: thin padding in the palm, wears down quick, I have had it for 6 months and its already floppy but it gets a lot of use, like everyday and around 2 full hours of nonstop pounding.

Pros: I used to have an Omaha series catchers glove. I got this because my Omaha grew to floppy so i waned a stiffer glove. i had to say that all the pitchers on my team love when i catch because the glove makes a fantastic noise when the ball hits it! It also broke in fairly quick but it kept its shape well!

Cons: It is a fairly small glove but overall it is great!

Pros: Ok leather, nice pocket.

Cons: glove loses shape and if you lay it on its side will go flat no matter how much you care for the glove. The palm loses padding and starts to sting after catching a season. Laces are not great.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Mizuno MVP Prime Series: GXC56 Catcher's Mitt? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the best way to break in a new Mizuno MVP Catchers Mitt? Meg
I would start by using a sponge or cloth and cover the entire surface of the glove with a small amount of glove oil. You can then put a ball in the pocket of the glove and wrap it with some bands (this will help to form the pocket). Let it sit overnight, and the next day you can take it out and start playing some catch with it. You can also use a wooden mallet to help simulate catch (this is often easier and quicker). Limit the amout of oil used and be sure to put a ball in the pocket and wrap it with some bands every night. It may take several weeks, but be patient and be sure to work with the glove daily.

how shallow is the pocket on this glove? brewers fan
This mitt has an average size pocket when compared to other catchers mitts of similar size.
Brett
Can i get this glove in a size 34.00? c town
Unfortunately, this glove is only available in 33.5 inches.

Hey, how's the padding on this glove and how do you think it would match up to the global elite glove by mizuno or a Wilson a2000? Do you think this would have enough padding for a 90mph fastball? Thanks Cbru
Thank you for your question. The GXC56 Catchers Mitt is going to have very good padding. It comes with Mizuno's ParaShock Technology and UltraSoft palm lining. This glove is going to be comparable in performance and durability to the Wilson A2000 and the Mizuno Global Elite Series. The MVP Prime Series is capable of handling a 90 MPH fastball.

I have used this glove for the past year in pro ball. I love the shape and how thin the edges are. Only problem is the leather breaks in and gets to floppy. Is there any way i could get the same model in pro series leather? AP
This exact model only comes as is, but I am sure we could find something with similar features. Try sifting through our 33.50 inch catchers mitt filters on the website, or call our customer service at 1-866-321-4568.

What is the difference between this glove and the GXC 54? Tim
The GXC56 will have a slightly more shallow pocket than the GXC54. Both are made from similar quality materials, so there isn't really a difference in break-in time, durability, etc. If you prefer a more shallow pocket, then the GXC56 would be an excellent choice.
Tyler
Which glove is better? This glove or the Wilson A1000 Series: BB1791SS? Is the durability long with the Wilson? Which can I trust more? NA
The Mizuno and the Wilson will be comparable as far as durability. Both should be easy to break in. However, the Wilson is a smaller model.
Damon
What would you recommend this or an A2000? What are their differences? espn .
The Wilson A2000 Series will hold its shape better. Both gloves will be lightweight. Here is a link to further compare the two models. http://www.justballgloves.com/compare/
Tom
What mitt will get floppier? The Mizuno GXC93 Franchise or the Mizuno MVP Prime GXC56? t
Both the Mizuno MVP Prime Series and the Mizuno Franchise Excel Series are high quality gloves that will keep their shape well. The MVP Prime Series uses upgraded leather for better durability and it will keep its shape a little better.
Nick
Gxc56 vs gxc31 which is a better glove? ruben
Both will be good mitts. The Mizuno Samurai Pro Series: GXC31 Catcher's Mitt will be a little more durable and also offers thumb protection technology.
Tori
Is the glove really stiff at first? sammanator
The Mizuno MVP Prime Series (GXC56) Catcher's Mitt is not very stiff because the leather is game ready. The MVP Prim requires little to no break-in time.
Jason
Would this be a good glove for a 11-12 yr old? Kiddk
Yes. As long as the player is needing a more adult style glove, the 33.5 inch size is a good pocket size for a younger player to start with.
