I would recommend an 32.00 or 32.50 inch catchers mitt for an 11 year old. I think that a 34 inch glove would be to big for her.

I'm a 15 year old catcher that is looking for a nice mit, I catch in the spring and summertime and practice 2 times a week in the winter so I need something that will last. I am left handed and am looking for something that loosens up nicely and will work nice for a varsity glove, any suggestions? Hullabaloo
This will be an easy glove to break in, but it will not be as durable as some other Mizuno's because of the quality of leather. I suggest the GXS31 Fastpitch Catchers Mitt for better durablity and quality.

This particular glove, the GXS92 is a female fastpitch softball glove. Generally speaking, high school age guys use between a 32inch catcher's mitt to a 33.50 depending on the size and preference of the catcher. The GXS53 uses a higher quality leather. It will be more durable than the Mizuno Francise Pro Series, but a little more difficult to break in.

The Mizuno Franchise Pro Series: GXS92 Fastpitch Catchers Mitt is designed for a female's hand. It will have smaller finger stalls and a more narrow wrist opening so that it fits tightly on the hand of a female fastpitch player.

I'm looking for one glove that will be effective for catching both my son's baseball pitches as well as my daughter's softball pitching. In terms of padding, are most catchers mitts similar if I were to go with a larger fast pitch softball mitt vs. a standard baseball catchers mitt ? Matt
We recommend using a slow pitch softball glove. The pocket will be large enough for a softball. A fastpitch catcher's mitt is designed for a female hand and will be too small for an adult male. A standard baseball catcher's mitt will not have a large enough pocket for a softball. Mizuno mitts are known to fit just a little bigger than Easton. A 34" mitt is more common among fastpitch players at the High School, Collegiate, and Professional levels. However, if you have a 12 year old who is above average in size, a 34" model would work just fine. Also, it's natural for the bottom portion of a players palm to show when wearing a glove or mitt.

My daughter's had one of these for a couple of years and is thinking of a new mitt. Is there really a difference in the amount of padding in this and the Mizuno GXS57? This says it has the ParaShock palm pad and the Palm soft padded pigskin in the palm. The GXS57 says it has the ParaShock palm pad and an Ultra soft palm liner. Does the Ultra soft palm liner give better protection than the Palm soft padding or are they basically about the same thing? MsDinosaur
