Have you gotten any feedback that recent A2K gloves (last 5 years or so) get floppy really fast? I bought an A2K model 1786 about 8 years ago and it is still an awesome glove - great flexibility in the pocket, but still stiff on the sides. 3 years ago, I bought an A2K model 1787 and I could tell right away that the leather was thinner and the finish was slicker and shinier. That glove got "floppy" after about a year and a half. Then last year I bought my son an A2K model 1787 as a congratulatory gift for making his high school team. That glove also seemed thinner and was slicker than my old A2K. That glove got floppy within 7 or 8 months. I have since noticed that several of the kids my son plays with have A2000's and they're still stiff even after considerable play and wear. This has all made me wonder whether, several years ago (in between my first and second gloves), maybe Wilson started making the A2K with thinner leather to help with a faster break-in or something. Have you heard comments like this from anyone else? Brenk Johnson
Is there a difference between the 2017 A2K 11.75 and the 2016 Model? Mike
How am I breaking this glove in? It is really stiff. Should I have it steamed? I need it in 2 weeks. Bubba
I play infield in high school ball so obviously the glove would be good for my current position. If I was going to switch to the outfield, would this be a glove you would still recommend? DR
I am a 6'4" 3rd baseman. What size glove should I get? eli
About the Brand
A true American icon in the world of sports equipment. This Chicago-based manufacturer of quality gloves began in 1913 as Ashland Manufacturing, which was a subsidiary of the Wilson & Co. meat company. At one point, the enterprise became known as the Thomas E. Wilson Co., taking the name of an early chief executive. In 1931, the name was changed to Wilson Sporting Goods Co.
Wilson makes a variety of baseball gloves and equipment for several different positions, uncluding bats and batting gloves. They are best known for models that include the A2K and A2000, as well as custom gloves. Players such as Clayton Kershaw and Miguel Cabrera have sported Wilson baseball gloves.
