Description

In August 2008, Akadema did what very few American companies do these days. They brought American manufacturing home and created jobs for American craftsman. Why is this so unique? Since the 1950's the American baseball glove manufacturing industry has shrunk from an estimated five thousand jobs to less then fifty jobs in 2007. A new baseball factory has not been built in the USA by an established recognized brand in nearly two decades. The reasons for the demise are all too familiar; after the costs of wages, insurance, benefits, taxation, and regulations. These obstacles increase the products cost over three times and make it impossible to compete against foreign imports. Then why would Akadema build gloves in the USA? The ownership has a love of the game and the USA. Akadema believes Americans should be able to make products which are loved and respected around the world. Our goal is to be the USA's largest domestic baseball glove manufacturer and make the best quality product. Akadema is willing to sacrifice the bottom line. We hope you will support Akadema and it's American initiative. All products, built here in the USA or abroad, will help Akadema create more American jobs. The Patriot Series uses Precision Kip Leather that is 20% lighter and tighter grained than steer hide. This allows for easier break-in. The Patriot Kip Leather also provides more tensile strength than competing glove lines. This results in a stronger, more durable glove. Akadema Professional. Free Shipping!

Pros: Man I love this glove. I sold my dirt bike so I bought 2 gloves. RawlingsPRO DJ2 and this glove. The DJ2 was great best glove I used until I put this glove on. I have large hands and yes it was tight but thats the point, it fit right to my hand like they took hand measurements.

Cons: It was stolen and I don't have another dirtbike to sell.

Pros: I really wanted to like this glove. It's great made-in-USA quality and simply has a great look and feel to it.

Cons: I couldn't get my average size hands into the glove to facilitate break-in. Had to send it back. I'll give it four stars because I think it would be great for someone with small hands or for someone with enough patience to break this glove in.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Akadema Patriot Series: USA102H? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I have a 12y girl that plays 3rd base in travel softball. Is the usa102h 12in glove the right choice? I only want an american made glove.. Dave
A 12 inch glove would be a good option for her. I probably wouldn't go any larger though. You can't go wrong with this Patriot Series glove.
Brett
Is the pocket deep enough for fastpitch softball? Mad
The pocket in this glove is not going to be deep enough for softball play. This glove is meant to be a baseball glove and is built that way.
Brett
could you recommend a glove for a middle infielder playing travel softball and going to college ball playing division 1 in the fall of this year .thank you shrek
I think that this glove would work for the infield. This is a very good glove that has great durability. It is lighter then most gloves.
Brett
My daughter plays 18's and is a middle infielder. She was recommended this glove, but I'm concerned that the pocket is not deep enough and not for fastpitch softball...please advice what you recommend. Fastpitch & Deep Pocket?
The pocket on this glove will form nicely as it is broken in and it will work for fastpitch softball. The hand and finger openings do fit just a little smaller than average so it does accomodate a player with a smaller hand. If you want a true fastpitch softball glove, look for the word "fastpitch" in the product's name. This indicates it's a glove with a larger pocket and smaller hand and finger openings for a female player.

I can't decide if this glove is good for softball or not there is conflicting info. Can you recommend this glove for softball? I want it for my 7 year old daughter. I still have my Louisville Slugger from when I was her age and I was kinda hoping it would be the last one she ever needs. Shupdawg
The USA102H is baseball glove however with its larger pocket some players could use it for softball play. This 12 inch glove is probably too big for a 7 year old fastpitch player. Most 7 year olds will need a 10 to 11 inch model.
Mark
i pitch and play outfield.. would this glove be ok for both? 4
Size wise it would be a good glove. The only thing that might hinder the pitching aspect is the open webbing, it might allow the batter to see the positioning of your fingers on the ball.

About the Brand

In Akadema's short but remarkable history it has become one of America's hottest baseball and softball equipment company for professional, college, high school, and serious youth players. The Akadema phenomenon started with the Professional Glove Series and continues with the Reptilian®, Praying Mantis®, Pro Soft™ and Prodigy™ Glove Series as well as the Amish Wood™, Tacktion™ and Xtension® Aluminum Bat Series. Akadema's ownership attributes increasing market share to their innovative professional baseball and softball product line in contrast to mass-produced products that have little to do with quality, feel, or design to raise the level of play.

Akadema's products are manufactured for professional players but are now accessible to semi pro, college, high school, and serious youth players. Akadema products are still designed with the professional player in mind but competitively priced for the professional player at heart. So it's your turn to think like a professional, play like a professional, and use Akadema Professional!

Akadema now has both baseball and fastpitch softball advisory staffs that they work with closely to implement new ideas. Members of the baseball advisory staff include Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith and Gary Carter as well as Howard Johnson, Reggie Smith, Luis Polonia, Sandy Martinez and many others. Fastpitch stars that are on the advisory staff include Crystl Bustos and Julie Smith. The input on performance from the advisory staff gives Akadema something they cannot put a price on. Their advisors don’t talk about marketing or places to sell the gloves, they just care about performance.
