Description

Mizuno has once again made it their priority to develop the games most exclusive line of ball gloves. One of those series is the Prospect Series. Mizunos patented PowerClose technology is unmatched in the industry. Others may try to duplicate, but no technology closes as easily. Multiple technologies like Pocket2, PowerClose, PowerLock, V-Flex, Hi-Low Lacing and SureFit Foam, afford the youth player the best options to make catching easy. Hi-Low Lacing increases flexibility throughout the web. The V-Flex helps initiate easy closure while the PowerClose makes it easier for younger players to close the glove and catch the ball. The Parashock palm pad and SureFit Foam lining in select Prospect Series models reduce shock to minimize "sting" while delivering superior feel and comfort. Above all, the PowerClose design MAKES CATCHING EASY! Free Shipping.

Pros: This is a great glove for the very young player. Very soft and almost zero break in time.

Cons: Only lasts about 1 good season. I bought this glove for both my sons. During second year of use leather became so soft it was almost collapsing into itself rendering it nearly useless. I saw the same results with both gloves.

What material is this glove made of? John K
This glove is made from "Full Grain Leather."
Brett
My son currently has a 10 inch which seems a little small, would 11" be too big? He is 7. Ric
Most 7 year olds will use between a 9.5" and a 10.5". An 11" would be fairly large jump.
Mark
is this glove easy to break in? mis
Yes, prospect series gloves break in fairly easily.
Mark
My son will be playing 9 yr old Travel Ball. Still various postions. Is the quality good enough? Size 11" ok for 9 yrs old? Liser
The most common "multi purpose" sizes are the 11 inch to the 12 inch sizes. Mizuno makes great youth gloves with the Power Close system, making it easy for kids to close the glove around the ball.

My son will be playing on a 9U travel team that requires pitchers to have a solid color glove. Is this glove also available in a black or red? SmokinZ
No, the only color the glove is avaliable in is the one that is on the website
Sean
Interested in this glove for my younger son for the next few years. He just turned 8 this month. Had a youth 9 1/2 inch glove previously. Wondering if this would be a good fit? Danny44
Yes this would be a good glove for him to move into for the next couple of years.
Gil
my grandson, turning 11, just beginning to play the school sport; is this size 11 big enough for him? Pam
Thanks for the question Pam! If your grandson is turning 11 then yes the 11 inch GPL1102 Youth model would be a great glove! Typically 11.5 inch gloves and down are great for youth play and if he he age 11 then he would fit into this category. Depending on the players height and weight, moving to a size or two larger may work as well. Mizuno is a great brand to own as well and the GPL1102 model has gotten great reviews and is easier to break in for youth players in a first time sport!

What is the difference between GPP and GPL Mizuno gloves? Matt
After speaking with Mizuno, the GPP model is made with pig skin and the GPL is made with leather.
Kris
I have a 6 year old who turns 7 in August... Do you recommend a 9", 9.5" or 11" glove? GP
Your average 7 year old will use a 10 inch glove. I wouldn't go any smaller than 9.5 inches and no bigger than 11 inches. An 11 inch glove may be just a tad too big for him right now, but if you want a glove he can grow in to, it would be a good idea to go for that size.
Tyler
I have an 8 year old who is above average size (about an average 9 year old), plays infield, and currently uses a 10.5 Mizuno. I'm considering sizing up to the GPL1102 or the Rawlings GG1125-125. Thoughts? MMB
We recommend an 11.25" for his size and position.
Kara
We love the Prospect Series gloves! My son is 8-1/2 and somewhat small for his size. He played with the 10 inch GPL glove when he was 7, but we had to sit out a year. Now being 8-1/2, we went to practice and all the boys' gloves were much bigger. What size should he be in now? Should we get the GPP or GPL? Single Mom
Based on the fact that you are wanting to go to a bigger model and your child's age, I would probably lean more toward the GPL line of the Mizuno Prospect Series like the Mizuno Prospect Series (GPL1102) because they come in slightly larger styles. Based on his age, I would probably go with an 11 inch model for now but you could maybe get away with an 11.5 inch design like the Mizuno Prospect Series (GPL1150Y1) if he likes a longer glove.
