Pros: The best glove for 7-10 year olds with small hands. You can not get a better glove at this price at your local Modells or Sports Authority. Take my advice and order this make. The leather should last you a few seasons.

Pros: What a work of art. Rec'd my 8 year olds glove a few days ago.....He was excited and noticed the quality of the glove and instantly fell in love with it... It took some work breaking it in. Have taken him out for a couple of catches and he is so confident.

Cons: Wish it came in a 11.25 youth size so that it he would be able to use in the outfield if need be. Other than that the 11 inch, he should be able to use it for two or three seasons at 2nd, short, or 3rd.

Pros: Great Glove...light and fits my 8 year old perfectly. Hes playing with more confidence after it was broken in. The leather glove should last him a 2-3 years as he has small hands.

We purchased this glove and have hard a hard time breaking it in. We purchased the 10.5 Vinci with a glove care kit. My son is using the Vinci because it was easier to break it. We have used the glove oil and glove care kit with the Louisville Slugger TPX H2 Lite SL Series: H2SL1100 Youth Glove, but it is still hard to break in. Any suggestions? Is our glove defective? Paco

This glove will be made from steerhide leather, which is of a higher quality compared to Vinci's 10.5 inch gloves. The higher the quality of the leather, the longer it will take to break in. I don't believe there is anything defective with the glove, it will just take more patience and a longer break-in period. We also have a 100-day return policy. So, if the purchase was made within 100 days, we can take it back for a full refund.

Which is the better quality, performance glove. TPX H2 Lite SL or Mizuno MVP Prime Jdog

Both will be great gloves that will display excellent quality and performance. The TPX H2 does use steerhide, which will be slightly higher in quality compared to the Mizuno MVP Prime

How would this glove compare to rawlings gold glove gamer pro taper of the same size? The rawlings my son has was great when he got it but has become floppy. Will this glove hold up for year round ball? G-Man

I would actually give a slight edge to the Louisville H2SL1100 in terms of leather quality an durability. With the professional grade steerhide used to make the H2, it will hold it's shape and fit very well over time. The Rawlings is a very similar glove, but it's leather is just a little softer.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
