Shoeless Joe Gloves - "when it was just a game". Shoeless Joe Gloves give a player the quality, feel and style of the gloves worn by professional ball players over the last 100 years. You can choose glove models worn in the first half of century in the Golden Age Series or today`s models in the Professional Model Series. The Shoeless Joe gloves are individually hand-cut and sewn from Special Aged Antique Tobacco Leather Hides. Shoeless Joe gloves are then hand-rubbed with old time ingredients to soften the leather before they go through their breaking in process that leaves the glove with a beaten up and `Game Worn` look and feel, of a broken in glove. Thus each glove is unstructured giving it its own unique feature. Players can choose to play with an old time or modern day web without having to change to another model. A great play is lived only once, but your glove, you`ll keep it forever. If you end a game with a clean uniform our gloves are not for you. Shoeless Joe Gloves - "when it was just a game".

Pros: I was a bit worried when ordering this glove, I already have a vintage model glove from a company called "Victory" that is made for play. There is barely any padding in it, where even playing catch with my 7 year old son stings my hand. I might as well wear an oven mitt. This Shoeless Joe glove is AWESOME! Tons of padding - no pain - and easy to catch with! GREAT PURCHASE!

Cons: It's made in Mexico. I guess it would be too good to be true if it was made in the States!

The Shoeless Joe Golden Age Series 1949 will have very similar amounts of padding as the Shoeless Joe Golden Age Series 1956. The main difference will be the three finger design of the 1949 verse the four finger design of the 1956.

I'm thinking about using one of the Golden Age gloves on my high school team. Which would be a better glove this one or the 1957? Since there are only four fingers total on this glove I would put two in the pinky correct? Joel
The Shoeless Joe Golden Age series glove is really more of a nostalgic glove, made for casual catch and play. It is not recommended using these gloves in competitive high school play. If I had to choose one, I would use the 1957 as this has the most functional design. The two fingers in the pinky stall would be the best way to use this glove.

How is the leather quality of this glove compare to modern day gloves? Does the glove company beat up the leather so much that it is dry or worn out to make it look older? fuerthy
The special aged antique tobacco leather used on the Shoeless Joe Golden Age Series 1949 would not be similar to the leather used on gloves today. It will be aged and worn through a special process to give it a more worn look and feel.

The Golden Age Series gloves like the Shoeless Joe Golden Age Series 1949 are not really intended for play. They are more for decoration or as a conversation piece or collectible. One model would not be much more capable for play than another.

We do not recommend using this glove for games. The Shoeless Joe Golden Age Series (1949) is not designed for play in today's leagues. This is a replica of the gloves used in 1949 era.
