In addition, the Top Grain leather won't weigh much at all and it will make the mitt easy for young catchers to hold up to their chests as they are awaiting the pitcher to deliver a pitch. Finally, Wilson has also crafted this mitt with a Double Palm construction that inserts a thin piece of padding into the palm section of the mitt. In the situation where the baseball is received in the palm of the mitt and not the pocket, this extra piece of padding should provide that bit of protection that is needed to keep the mitt hand healthy!
