new to baseball mom

Pros: Great looking glove. Good start on the breaking in process. Love the look of old time baseball.

Cons: Needs a lot of work to be able to use the glove especially for a young player. Thought we would order and use that weekend to play but being new to baseball....I was very unrealistic.

Pros: Has a real quality feel to it. It is definitely a well made glove. It is somewhat more soft than some other gloves I have bought for my son recently.

Cons: While it feels somewhat broken in we it came, it still needs work. My son has used it in practice for about 2 weeks but is not ready to use it in a game. I use shave cream with Lanolin to soften it. It just needs more use to be ready for a game for my son.

1300FBTT First Base Mitt Joe Hall parent

Pros: Excellent mitt; competitively priced; quick break-in; and great warranty/maintenance prigram.

Cons: 14-year-old has extra-large hands that are very tight fit. His Shoeless Joe infielders glove is a better fit for his big hands.

Pros: I had my doubts about this glove, but they have been alleviated. I'm using this glove for pro ball at 1B this season. This glove only took a week of stretching, two cream treatments, and one catch session and it's game ready. Very cool looking. A little adjustment to the thumb and pinky lacing made my hands more comfortable. (I have very long fingers) You can go with pinky and ring in one slot or spread them out. The pocket lacing lays flat for fielding straight out of the box. I prefer this for a 1B mitt. Well, all seems good so far, after some game action, we see how it goes.

Cons: Made in Mexico. (but that's not really a bad thing) Single hinge lacing. For those that want double hinges, it may be possible, but this glove is not manufactured this way. Lacing on back of the glove is reversed (but I can live with it) Inside thumb holder is not long enough. For those with long fingers, it will take a little break in to avoid the rubbing/blistering on top of your thumb.

Great 1st base mitt Josh Player

Pros: When I ordered it I also paid for the pre break in process. It definitely helped prep the glove and made it easy for me to break it in the rest of the way and form it to my hand and hinge style. Great webbing design . The pocket feels like I can catch anything. I have big hands so I was worried about fit but it’s actually perfect. I wear XXL batting gloves and they are pretty tight for an idea of how big when I say big hands. Outer structure of the mitt is moldable to my style and I have it curled in a bit. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase and excited to be catching the double play balls at first base with ease.

Cons: None

Do you carry a right hand throw model? djp258
All options that we do have are one our website. When we have the left and right hand throwers in stock, those options will be up on our webiste.
Brett
My son is 10 years old and has played baseball since he was 4. He is an experienced player, travel ball, major league (little league level) and all star team. He is starting to settle in on positions since he is left handed: pitcher, outfield, and first base. He has never owned a first base mitt and this would be his first one. LL does not allow a glove over 12". Should he be ok with this glove until he reaches high school? Mark
A 12 inch first base mitt should last a 10 year 3 years or so until he reaches high school age. This model will be very soft and easy to use from day one. If he likes a softer mitt then this would be a good option.
JH
What country are these gloves made in? none
These gloves are made in Mexico
Kris
Looking for a good mitt for a 6 foot 3 high school player. Will a 12 inch mitt be too small? eric
It might be a little small for him. But everyone's preferences are different. Keep in mind that if the glove you choose doesn't fit the way he likes, you have 100 days to return it, and we can try another size if needed.
Linda
How good is the pocket on this glove? mike
It's good. Standard depth and pretty durable.
Tyler
How is the padding on this glove? john
The 2600FBTT has an average amount of padding for a first base mitt. It will have adequate protection from hard thrown baseballs.
Tyler
I can't decide on this glove or the Nokona Walnut Series 1st baseman mitt. Which one should I choose? Jackson
Both the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2600FBTT First Base Mitt and the Nokona Walnut Series: N80W First Base Mitt would be excellent options for you at first base. The main difference is that the Nokona is 13.00 inch model and the Shoeless Joe is 12.00 inches. Here is a link to further compare the two gloves. http://www.justballgloves.com/compare/
Tom
Is there a 12 inch model for youth age 10-11? BP
Unfortunately, I do not see the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2600FBTT First Base Mitt in a Youth model. I was able to track down this for you though: http://www.justballgloves.com/product/mizuno-prospect-series--gxf101-youth-first-base-mitt/7193/
Brandon
Is the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2600FBTT First Base Mitt for a male or female? Is this a 13 inch or a 12 inch glove? Beth
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2600FBTT First Base Mitt is a baseball glove. It can be used by either a male or female baseball player. This glove is a 13 inch glove.
Jeff
What is the best First Base Mitt for a 17 year old high school player looking for a back up glove? EGoff5
As a 17 year old High School player this glove would be perfect for you as an everyday mitt or as a backup mitt. It is hand rubbed with Old Time Ingredients to soften the leather. It will have a game ready feel from day one with a game worn look as well. The Special Aged Antique Tobacco Leather will be very soft. The webbing on this Mitt is unique. It will feature the Tennessee Trapocket design.
Brandon
How well would this glove work for softball (modified fast pitch)? I'm 6' tall, 230 lbs. with big hands. Seth
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series is a great glove. It happens to be 13 inches. Since you have big hands, the Nokona Buckaroo Series: SBM100K Softball First Base Mitt is 14 inches, which happens to be the biggest First Base Mitt we carry.
Chad
Is this mitt big enough for men's softball? It appears to have a shallow pocket. Does the Tennessee webbing compensate for that? Maz
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2600FBTT First Base Mitt is 13.00" and should be large enough for men's softball. The Tennessee pocket, once broken in, is actually a deep pocket.
Kevin
I am 13 and playing high school B-team baseball. I was wondering if this would be a good buy? Skittles
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 2600FBTT First Base Mitt would be a great choice. The 13" may be too large for an undersized 13 year old. If you have average to above average hand size this should work very well for you.
Brandon
I am trying to decide between these 2 gloves: The Shoeless Joe Professional Series:2600FBTT First Base Mitt and the Akadema Torino Series: ADT57-12 First Base Mitt. My son is almost 16, 6'2" inches tall and is playing JV High School ball. I would like to get a good glove. Any suggestions? MikeP
Those are both great mitts. You might also consider the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Pro Mesh Series: PROFM19MX First Base Mitt.
Damon
I am a left handed 14 year old with a larger sized hand. I was wondering if the 1300FBTT would be a good first base mitt for me. Shane
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1300FBTT) is a good mitt for a player of your age. It may require a bit of break-in period for the glove to form better around your hand if it is larger but should work just fine.
Patrick
My son is 13, 5'11" and 170 lbs good size kid. Do you think this would be a good glove for him? doug
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1300FBTT) would be a good mitt for a player your son's age and size.
Jake
Is the glove too big for a 12 year old hand? He does have a Shoeless Joe Professional Series (3200CM) Catcher's Mitt. Steve
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1300FBTT) First Base Mitt has a 13.00 inch pattern and we recommend a 12 year old first baseman to use a 12.00 inch model. We also recommend using a 32.00 inch Catcher's Mitt for a 12 year old.
Tom
Will this glove fit a grown man? Will the pocket hold a 12 inch softball? flyball
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1300FBTT) should fit an adult male hand and should be able to hold a softball if broken in with softballs rather than baseball. It is, however, a more baseball specific model.
Patrick
Is that first base mitt big enough for senior softball? Bobby.
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1300FBTT) could work for that style of play. You will want to break it in using softballs rather than baseballs to make the pocket wide enough.
Patrick
Is this glove heavy or light? papa
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt is going to be heavier than a normal glove because it is a First Base Mitt. Comparative to other First Base Mitts the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt will feel a little lighter than average.
Max
My son is 6'3" and is in 9th grade. Is this 13" First Base Mitt a good fit for him? I know he will be about 6'5" soon. James Wright
Based off the information you've provided, I think the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt would be a good option.
Dan
Does this mitt have the XRD foam in it? stlfan
Yes, the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt has the XRD foam.
Tori
What size is good for 10 year old, 188lbs? dean
Typically speaking, a 10 year old first baseman will use a glove around the size of 12.00". However if your player has larger hands, the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt at 13" could make for an excellent option to continue growing in to.
Tyler
Is this a youth ball glove? Gary Goodine
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt offers a standard fit, typical for upper middle school aged players to adults.
Logan
Is this mitt a 12 inch or 13 inch? The description says 13 but there are questions here about it being a 12. Thanks. Susan

Dani
Is this large enough to use in High School baseball? Is this the largest size first base mitt? Jean
Yes, a 13'' mitt like the Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt would be a good size and large enough for high school baseball. It is not the largest first base mitt. We have up to a 14''.
Tori
Is this a baseball first baseman or softball glove? Shannon
The Shoeless Joe Professional Series: 1300FBTT First Base Mitt is a baseball 1B mitt.
Cameron
How is the pocket for slow pitch softball? Mark
The Shoeless Joe Professional 13" Baseball First Base Mitt: 1300FBTT is an excellent first base glove for slow-pitch softball with it's 13" design for a deeper pocket that can handle a softball perfectly.
