This can be used by adults or younger players. If you need a glove that's made smaller to fit a younger players hand, look for the word "Youth" in the product's name.

Generally speaking outfielders use 12 inch to 12.50 inch gloves. This is the perfect size for pitchers. If you are wanting one glove to cover both positions, I would lean toward a 12 inch glove, that is a good multi purpose size.

When it comes to the glove webbing, it almost entirely comes down to the personal preference of the player. There won't be much difference between the two types of webbing, but the regular trapeze web may form a slightly deeper pocket than the modified trapeze web.

For a 9 year old, I would recommend an 11.5" youth glove. A youth model will fit a younger players hand much better. This Shoeless Joe Professional Series (1150MT) will have an 11.50" length on it and the resulting pocket will allow a baseball to sit well in the glove. However, this Shoeless Joe has an adult fitting to it that will be a little large for a 7 year old hand. At that age, most third basemen and pitcher's at that age will wear a 11.75" or 12" glove. If you play third a little more, I would lean toward the 11.75" size, such as the Shoeless Joe Professional Series Baseball Glove: 1175TT or the Shoeless Joe Pro Select 11.75" Baseball Glove: PS1175IW.
